  3. Hi Folks, I am installing a 4 ACTI ACM 4200 system. Everything was going well until I added the second camera to the network which totally crashed it. This site has a POS system with 3 computers upstairs where the cameras are which connects to a 10/100 switch which is connected to a Gigabit switch downstairs where 3 computers are connected as well as the POS server. I was planning on getting a gigabit switch for upstairs where the cameras and the 3 computers are so the 3 computer can take advantage of the gigabit speed. Any suggestions is fully appreciated. Thanks Rob

  6. I have installed 8 nuvico cams with infrared. The system worked fine for 6 months but now 2 cams are displaying images distorted and it keeps on going off and on. What should I do to diagnose this problem? Is power related, cable or camera related? The client is real jerk and I don’t want him to blame me for the issue. I can send the image if that helps. Please help thanks Rob.

Please help a newbie diagnose this problem

Hi Rory thanks for the reply. I goes on and off in the PCDVR screen all day long every second. And when is on it displays distorted image like seeing thru a wet class. Those are the only 2 doing that and the cameras are in different areas of the place. I just want to tell the guy what I think it could be Because I know that is the first thing he is going to ask me. Thanks Rob.

Please help a newbie diagnose this problem

To be honest, I haven’t got the chance to do any tests yet. This client is a big jerk and he keeps on threatening me. Anyhow I will go there tomorrow and check. I just wanted to have an idea to see what I should look for to give him a straight answer. I asked the distributer and he told me it could be a power issue. Anything else I should be looking for? Thank you very much. Rob.
  10. I am an IT consultant and I do Camera installs as a vertical business. I have a client that requested me to install 5 cameras in his store. The challenge is that he wants the cameras located on a particular area. My question is how I to calculate the field of view so I can give him ideas as to what is going to be covered. I know there are lenses Calculators but I am wondering how to the pros here use this calculation to predict field of view. Thanks Rob.

  15. Hi All, I am a newbie in CCTV technology. I have purchased a GEOVISION 800 8/Cams DVR card and 7 Cameras from CCTV SPECIALTY. One of the dome cameras I will be monitoring one of the POS system which is a SHARP UP-X500 here is the link to the specs sheet http://www.sharpusa.com/files/pos_dow_UPX500ss.pdf. If I understood crrectly, Geovision Data inserter will not support GUI POS. If anybody here has done such installation or know how to do it, Please share with me. Thanks Roberto
  16. Hi All, I am a newbie in CCTV technology, and I am trying to install a system for a client. After a lot of research, I purchased a GEOVISION 800 8/Cams DVR card and 7 Cameras from CCTV SPECIALTY. Two of the dome cameras I purchased, came with an AC/DC Dual model power output here is the link for the cameral model [edit by mod - non retail link removed] The problem is with the cable that came with it. It has a DC connector. CCTV SPECIALTY was of no help. I went and bought a DC pigtail. The question is where do I connect the pigtail to? There are two wires in the cameras one red and one black. Which one is the hot wire? Any help will be fully appreciated. Thanks Roberto
  17. Dos that mean I can use the Data inserter from Geovision?

DOME camera with a AC/DC dual model

Thanks Rory. But I want to keep things simple and use the RCA/power Plug and Play cables that came with it. Pardon me the ignorance but why would I want 24VAC instead 12DC? And is there a quality difference between RCA and BNC? Just curious. Thanks. Roberto
