Got more than one?
-
Interesting. I didn't need the tv out yet, but was looking to maybe add it later. I was looking at the difference of getting a loop through or mutli-quad card and thinking the combos would be a better choice. Without knowing that the combo cards arn't perfect. Does one think that the issues are hardware or software based? Possibly being that they could fix them later?

Which 1120 did u use? I was looking at using the 1120-16 channel vs the 800-16 channel. Are you saying the 800 is a better choice?

Geo to go to 32 or more cameras on one computer?

Is the video viewable with the Control Center software? I use RDP and it is unusable to actually view video with. -
I have used the uPNP of the router feature in the software. It works. Is there a way to have this run on it's own or something? Sometimes the router looses power. Not sure if it's power outages or someone bumpin power cords. But the router then looses all the port mappings. Is there a way for Geo8 to check that the router is setup each time it runs? Just trying to simplify this for the end user. The router apparently doesn't save any uPNP settings. I can always hard code them in I guess. Just figured Geo8 might do this, but couldn't find anything on it.

I thought it was neat that it actually worked. Made it easy to get the web half up and running. I am going to have to hard code them in, just didn't know if there were any options there. You know how lazy people can be.

I have a couple older cards that I would like to upgrade the software on. One is a GV-900 and the other is a GV-1000. I was told at one point, that with the USB dongle, I could run the new software. Does this still hold true up to version 8?

There was a post on here the other day I saw that gave a website of some dealer that had it for download. I will look around to see if I can find it. Maybe someone could chime in sooner though.

That what the Geo tool said as well.

I coulda swore that wasn't there last week!

So I upgraded boards to get more processing power. I was using a P4 2.8 and went to a Core 2 Duo 6300. Using a GV1000. I had 400gb storage using the IDE RAID. I also wanted to upgrade the storage space to something larger. SATA drives are pretty cheap nowadays. So I got 2 500gb SATA drives. The new board I got is the ASUS P5B. IT has the Intel 965 chipset. Everything works good. Except... The board has 6 SATA ports. But only 2 can used via RAID. One internal and one external. What is the point in that? Why would a person need and external drive hooked up to a RAID array? I didn't realize this little tidbit till after trying to install the drives in RAID. So now I need a way to get the two drives in a RAID array or new board. I like ASUS products(till now), but which one do I get at this point? Does the Geo work with Nforce boards? What is the difference between the 945 and 965 chipsets? Is there a way to make a nested drive some how for the Geo software, so that it sees one big drive? I know I can specify more than one storage location, but another program I have causes storage issues. Geo only recycles on the current drive it is recording on.

I will do some looking there and see what I can find. I agree with you on the software RAID.
-
Where is this program?

I found nothing on the net about getting the IC8H to work as a RAID. Trying various forms of nesting the second drive into the first one proved useless. I could make a folder on the first drive as the second drive. But Geo software only saw it as one drive and would complain that the database is already present. So what I did finally was to just use XP Pro to stripe the drives together. Something i didn't even know I could with XP. So the question comes in as to whether the performance is more or less than hardware RAID-0.
-
Ok, I checked the speed. Getting between 185-191mb on each of the storage drives. Seems this board has the JMB363 and the IC8H. If the IC8H has the capabilities where would one look for that driver? Intel site?
-
No need. I installed XP on a IDE drive(non-Raid). Trying to use the SATA ports as Raid for video storage. There are 6 SATA ports on this board. And only one internal and the external port are the RAID ports. Something which is, in my opinion, designed very dumb. So either I run a cable from one of the drive out the case to the back, get a board that isn't designed wrong, or figure out how to nest the second drive in the first one so that Geo can use both as one.

Any dealers that know here?
-
Also Geo has a problem nesting video storage. Claims it already has a log on that drive.

Don't know if this the proper forum, but what kinda price are you at on them? If you have to PM me.

Got a question about the video out on the newer Geo cards. It has an added DSP to provide the video out, for a separate monitor. Right? What exactly gets displayed? Just video? Does it mimic the main monitor? Can you specify what cameras this output shows? thanks

I think mine are too old. How do I tell for sure?
-
With 7 I still need the USB dongle, right?
-
I was trying to add the POS feature over LAN. The IR remote doesn't work either with older software. Otherwise not much has changed. I have put in some new stuff with 8.xx so I have looked around at the software in action.

There are a few places that still list them for sale. But I think it's money better spent buying the new card.

If I was to sell my older cards, what kinda return can I expect? I know nothing is a certain. What has everyone been doing that can't upgrade? Selling?
