I have several cameras, that in the last couple months have been getting dimmer and dimmer. The cameras are all the same brand, Shuttle. I have changed all the settings on the cameras and nothing helps. These cameras are about two years old. Shouldn't they last longer than that? I have ten cameras at this location. Two failed last month, and two failed this month. All were just too dark to see clearly.

I am using a power box for all the cameras. I didn't check the power box they were on to see what the voltage was. I did however have a 24v wallwart type from ratshack that I used to test them after I got them back to the shop. They exhibited the same problem there. That leads me to believe the voltage is good, but I will double check to be sure.

The 64 dollar question is when then?

Full body. Sony 1/3 Super HAD, 480tv lines, .1 lux, color, 24v. They had a model # of OLC-040. They do tend to run hot. They have been running about two years.

Dual processors system
a94cobra replied to a94cobra's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Well, I have my DVR machine set aside so no one uses it. Cause it gets kinda slow while trying to do other things. Which is fine. Its main purpose is to record. But if it were a dual processor machine, I might be able to do a few smaller tasks without interrupting the DVR side of the machine. Alternatively if I just throw another machine in the rack with a KVM switch It would be like a dual machine. Trying to see which way to go there. -
Have just purchased a cheap 4ch DVR card off eBay

I buy quite abit of stuff off eBay. And 98% of the time, I get what is advertised. I have bought some used cameras off eBay(to keep cost down), but no DVR cards. I know alot of distributors sell their products on eBay to sell more product, even though it is against thier policies. -
Fragmented Hard Drives - Common?
a94cobra replied to fdan4817's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I set my DVR up with a 8gig drive for all the OS. ANd put in to 200gb in a raid for storage. If a crash ever occurs either on the raid or the OS drive. The other will still be intact. -

I havn't bought anything off eBay in the forms of these DVR cards. But surely not all of them are selling pirate cards? Must be a way to tell. -
I have one machine that has bad cables. Both of them (16 cam card) give me intermittent problems. Where can we buy replacements?
-
Can you convert a 3pin iris cable to the newer style 4pin?

Can't load Activex control for webcam on a geovision.

That where the ActiveX setting is. I knew there had to be a way to turn that off. I will give that a try later and see. -

I have a Geovision card. I am trying to log on to the webcam. On a machine with WindowsXP sp2 I can't install the activeX control. It says unknown pubilsher and won't let me run the activeX control. My best guess is that the contol is only valid to Novemer 2004. Why is that? Or is there another problem? -
is xvision the same as geovision

Is Geovision not supposed to come in a white box? -
I have a VT zoom lens. I am using a Geovision DVR. Is there a way to contol this zoom lens via the software?
-
Thomas>>> I don't know for sure what protocol type the Geovision supports. Only the brands listed on the website. The zoom lens only has manaul control at this point.
-
The Geovision doesn't list that as a supported brand on their website. Anyone know if that is compatible with other brands? This unit is around $200. Is that right? Doesn't seem worth it. I could add on a different lens that was already 422/485 ready for not much more. Correct?
-
Works like a champ. Thanks guys.
-
rory>>> The lens is an older VT G06Z12 78mm zoom. Got it cheap. I am putting it in an outside enclosure and due to it's size I was gonna use the smallest camera I had. Just so all would fit easy. AVCONSULTING>>> Thanks for the help. I will do all that tomorrow and see if that works out.

I was wanting to put this onto a Sanyo camera. Mainly using that one because of size. I am mounting the entire setup into a box that I can put outside. With the big lens, I was putting my smallest camera with it. Just so it all fits into the housing. If you want the model number I will have to pull it all back apart.

Soldering is not a problem. Where do you get the fourth wire from? Which pins translate to which pins? Didn't know if it was even possible to do this. Is the wiring compatible? Same type drive and such?
-
I am trying to find out info on a lens I bought. It is a VT G 06 Z 12 NDAIEC. Needing a wiring diagram for the wires. Don't wan't to hook it up wrong. Can someone point me in the right direction. THX

Ok. I took the plunge and built a system. I am using the GV-1000. My question is why are there jagged lines around the edges of people as they move through the field of view? Is there a way to get rid or minimize that? Thanks.

Off hand what cards have hardware overlay? I'll check to make sure on the video and manboard drivers. If the real time card wasn't another $500 I could consider. I can use the TVout as another monitor. Either clone or extend the desktop.
