Change of Lens on static camera ?
stephanovich replied to stephanovich's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Thanks for the further info. The actual camera is a samsung and has two options for AI lens on the rear of the camera for "video" or "dc"...I assumed, maybe wrongly, that this meant video drive...I will use another auto iris lens and be done with it but it is of interest to me to see how these things work. -
Change of Lens on static camera ?

Thanks for the reply...I had it in mind it wasn`t going to be easy or anything simple ...on the plus side they`re not expensive so I will be thankful for that !!! -
Hi, I want to change a lens on one of the static cameras I use...the paricular camera that I need to change the lens on has a lens with a 4 pin wire/lead that plugs in to the relevant slot on the camera...but,the other lens I wish to place on the camera has just 3 wires...can anybody help with this please ? Im unsure if I need to rewire the new 3 wires into the 4 pin plug somehow or whether to connect this new lens into the rear connections...there seem to only be a + and - connections at the rear of the camera though ?!?! Hope somebody may be able to offer some advice as to how to sort this out...I want to change the lens as the new lens has a longer range which is needed at present. Thanks,

nvrdns.com...STRANGE phone call from microsoft !!!
stephanovich replied to stephanovich's topic in General Digital Discussion
I removed it straight away...whoever it was knew enough about who I was and the computer I was using to tell me what pages I had been looking at and where the computer had been purchased even to the number...I`m still very confused..the guy said he was from a representative site or microsoft rep or something and gave his name, number and other information etc and directed me to things inside my computer that only somebody with an in depth knowledge would know even existed and he knew that there was a problem with something on my computer...when he proved to me certain info I started to take him seriously...I don`t know much about computers except how to use them for the work I do etc as I guess most people do...however...the point I am making is that I was advised to use nvrdns.com by somebody on this site whne I was seeking info on remote viewing set-up...others probably have obtained the same information. -
nvrdns.com...STRANGE phone call from microsoft !!!
stephanovich posted a topic in General Digital Discussion
I have just had a very strange experience via a phone call. on answering the phone I was informed that it was from microsoft...as you would imagine I was rather bewildered and wanted to know how and why the caller had my phone number (I`m in the UK). He proceeded to explain that there was a malicious program on one of the computers in my house that was infected...I was guided to look at the event log in my computer and asked if there were any "errors" and how many...there were lots ! ...I was asked if I knew where the cause may have come from and next to the "error" in the event log was DDNS...the only DDNS I have on my computer was installed from nvrdns.com and I downloaded the client from there. I got the information from this forum site and am passing on what has just occurred to me...the caller was genuine and could only have known things about me and my computer from the source it was obtained from originally. If this should be passed on please do so as I don`t know how to do it. Thanks.....and still confused. -
kinda defeats the whole point of 940nm doesn`t it ...I just love the 940nm I use

Instaqllation wiring and frozen ground...?
stephanovich replied to stephanovich's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
They are the heavy grade type...they are premade but they do look sturdy...I just didn`t know if maybe freezing temperatures (nothing siberian here ) caused a loss of transmission or something and I`d be caught out...mind you,I doubt he`ll be doing any naked spying in the cold anyhow...hadn`t thought of that ...I guess you`re right when you say to leave it and see how it works out....thanks all -

Instaqllation wiring and frozen ground...?
stephanovich replied to stephanovich's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Yes I placed the wires in the ground at about 12 inches on a temporary measure at first as it was very difficult to do it unobserved...the cameras are there for the night-time naked peeper/prowler/general all round moron next door...so I didn`t have much chance to do a permanent job although there have been no problems so far. There are no splices in the ground and there are several runs of a maximum of 10 metres outdoors. I am thinking of placing in piping at around the same depth (12 inches)...as it is I would need to pull up a few things to do this, decking and there`s a concreted pathway/area so if I can get away with just the piping it will make it a lot simpler. edited to add...the situation here is not easy...it`s not as if I`m installing a system with no obstacles or hindrances in that this needs to be unseen...we are going through a serious situation with the police involved etc although they have taken their time...they didn`t realise until they saw the footage what this guy does...(there are some thing`s I don`t want to say here). (A little summary justice was delivered so things have been quieter but this fool will not stop I`m convinced ) -
Instaqllation wiring and frozen ground...?

I have several cables that I have placed just under the surface of the ground to several cameras...some are laid just to easily change the siting of cameras...while it`s not an issue at the moment,in the winter the ground will become frozen and I want to ask if this will affect anything concerning video feed or power to the cameras ? i do intend to place them in some type of piping but I don`t really want to start digging trenches ! Also, what about leads/wiring that runs outside the house down the walls etc ? I`d really like some advice before I find there are any issues and I can do something about it. Thanks -

I have been told of theses security lights that follow a target once it`s entered the field of view and sends a wireless audio alarm when it`s been set off ...there`s also a version of the same but with a bracket on top for a cctv camera to go on top...kind of do-it-yourself PTZ I guess, has anyone used this kind of thing ? http://www.nightwatchersecurity.eu/p/h/Home/Products/1/ I`ve seen them on ebay, costco, amazon etc amongst other places. if anybody has used this or similar I`d appreciate the information on how it worked... thanks... -
Hi, Does anyone know where to get/buy mini 3 and 4 pin connectors for pcb board cameras...? they are I believe about 2.54mm...the female sits on the board and the male connector fro bnc and power slots into the board connector...I think they are sometimes called heade connectors but am not really sure as Ive seen molex mini connectors that are similar...if anyone knows where these are sold I`d appreciate the info Thanks

I`m not a cctv technician but have consistently used both 850nm and 940nm for about 6 months...I don`t know the camera you speak of but the difference you will notice in using infrared will be that blue may appear as purple, green a bit washed out looking etc...there will be differences in colour but as far as I have noticed while using IR cameras there is no difference in quality aside from the colour being affected...as I say,I`m not a cctv technician or professional but I`ve used IR cameras constantly and this is the only thing that has been apparent for me...there`s been no difference in definition or detail of view... (maybe you`re asking for something other than the explanation given and if so I`m sorry for being mistaken)
