    Webviewer & Windows 7

I did try to connect to the DVR which was on Windows 7 via a Windows 7 Client. With UAC on, there were a couple hickups when installing Activex control. Then after it was installed (!) there was only the first camera on the display with no control buttons around it. So, I couldn't really do anything. Then I had another Windows 7 installed on a virtual machine. I disabled the UAC and then installed the webviewer. At first, it gave me an error stating Install-language-20090326.exe cannot be found, though in the meantime it was still downloading it ! I clicked OK on the error message and waited the installation to finish in the background. After that, it was installed just fine and it started work normally. If you already have installed the activex, make sure that you remove it first by going to Tools/Internet Options/Settings (Browsing History)/View Objects and then deleting objects that start with WebCamX.. After that, go to your DVR address and install the Activex again, hopefully you should be ok. If not, please let me know what error messages you are receiving.

    Windows 7 ultimate 32bit,

I have one running on 7 Pro 32 bit without any problems. UAC is off and it starts just like the other ones on XP machines.

    Problems with NV5000

Your intallation media might be corrupted. Download another one from Avermedia's site. If that does not work either, it would be easier if you could put the specs of the PC you have tested this card with. But looking at the date of your post you probably have solved it already.

    Webviewer & Windows 7

The problem is not with activex license but Admin rights. If you check that file in the DVR system it probably does not even exist. I have had this problem on one computer. Now another one (a new one) is doing the same thing on my cutomers PC. However it does not do that on another PC that I was using. I have not been able to touch the send PC, but on the first one, I copied the files that the PC was looking for from the DVR and installed it that way. I will check that other PC and see what the problem could be.

Low Resolution via Network views on 6240

Also, "Enable Handy Viewer" in the Network settings has sub-settings that allows you to increase the quality when viewing over mobile devices.

Low Resolution via Network views on 6240

go to Setup/Network/Network Video Configuration and increase the "Quality" (and the "Frame Rate Level" if needed). You may still have to right click on the image and choose quality level as "high" when viewing through the activex viewer.

    curious about the Geovision gv-600

No such thing. This is a software compression card. Might not like the software? Hmmm... I am not sure about that. One of the best out there, unless you don't like clicking your mouse to control your computer
  9. What company are you referring to?
  10. jasonTam just said it. But if you don't intend to use other applications on that PC, there is not much to bother with a hardware compression card. I have done a 32 channel system with dual screens on software compression. The user is also using the left monitor for daily business use and DVR on the right side. I set up the system to reboot daily and no problems or whatsoever is occuring. Would I use hardware compression? Hmmmm... still yes if I had the extra dollars.

    NV6480 IP Patch problem

Tom, I have read so many of your posts in the past and I think you are a knowledgable person. But, how do you patch an executable file through the import button, which imports .cfg files that were exported from a DVR system? I need hear a way to install this patch without seeing this stupid error message. AverMedia is too busy helping others (?) I guess, they almost never return back to me. So, I am looking for experienced inputs. Thanks.

    aver.6480 and pos. help

We have our own POS software that we install for our clients only. I asked the programmer to give serial outputs of whatever tansactions are added to the database. So, if the POS server (not clients) is next to the DVR server, then I don't even have to run cables from the printer. Also, even if they don't print trickets, it doesn't matter; I still grab the text once it's put on the database. We are working on the software for distribution, it is not available for resellers, yet.

Can you view remotly on a mac?

Tell your client to switch to PC. Even if I get 10's of blue screens, I am still sticking with PCs. You get my point?

warning re avermedia and POS and Vista

You would have to forward port 5150 to the DVR. I have done it and it works quite well. Though, sometimes I think the overlay text is lost or not sync'd. But overall I like it.

Consider using Avermedia?? think twise !!!

I agree oin the bugs and the inconveniences that they may have caused. Just because one version failed a few features, it should not really trash the product. I found bugs on NV5000 a few years ago, too. But, I still like it overall. You said that there is no manual for the DVR system. The thing is, I have never seen another DVR card that is easier to use and install. Pretty much the best user friendly interface out there. You can't really compare the features with Geovision but, there is a difference. There are really small features that make a big difference especially when you have average computer-literate clients. I always use NV5000 unless my client demands more complex features. But then again, how many reatail stores look for automation, access features, or LPR and so on. As far as the installation goes, just click on the setup file and go with the flow. All you need to know is your Product type, and set your user name and password. This is no harder than installing Microsoft Office. This is not really a DIY system, so, if you come across with little problems like this, you may have to end up at the support page downloading different versions or the latest version ...

Please HELP!!! Avermedia 5000 2 cards issue

You can record at 30fps/channel only at CIF mode (320*240). Any higher resolution will lower the recording fps on NV5000 cards. You would have to go with a 6000 /7000/9000 series card if you need VGA/D1 resolution at above 15fps.
  17. Well, I tried this on one of my systems and the system has been working perfectly fine with NO noise at all. Do I recommend? Not really. But it does work. Does it work? Is it okay? Two completely different arguments.

    AVERMEDIA NOW ON IPHONE

Well, the application only has live view feature and nothing else, basically. No multiview, no audio, no PTZ, no playback, does not save connection information and so on. Whereas, Geovision's iPhone G-view shows 6 cams at once, controls PTZ and IO, saves connection information, playback function. Though, does not have audio, neither. But since this is the first step into iphone view, I think it is normal. I think Avermedia is pretty good on Windows Mobile phones (except quadview quality). Let's just wait, there should be more of it coming...

    NV7480 Card

Yapp, my mistake. This card is a PCI card, not a PCI-X. (I know it's been a long time since my last post).

    NV7480 Card

I have been using Aver's products for years and I like them very much. I also have installed a few Geovisions. The 7480 I think is a great deal. The only con on that card is that it does not give a quad view on the Spot Monitor (TV). Other than that, the software and the hardware is very good. By the way, you really don't need a computer priced at 1250 to run that card. I would go with the 7480 choice. Just make sure that the PC you get has two or more PCI Express slots, like Dell Vostro 420.

Anyone use avermedia cards with AMD cpu's?

I have tried it only once and it performed badly. So, I switched to an Intel system and it worked fine. Now, I can't really say that they don't work on AMDs, because it's only one incident, but I'd stick with Intel since I know that I will definitely not have a problem with it.

    TV-out on NV6240E

I would try another card. Or try the card on another PC. Make sure that RCA in is working.

Can't get Remote Control to work!!

I would check the remote playback on another PC. There may be something wrong with the OS. Or you can simply go to the "Program Files" folder and delete the RemoteAP folder and reinstall the Activex software.

How do you make NV5000 control the PTZ

If you used that adaptor, make sure you have a serial port on the PC. Otherwise you would need to use a USB to Serial converter, or an internal PCI serial port card.

    Trougble getting webview setup

That is happening because there is another application that is using port 80 already or your firewall software may not allow you to use it. Your ISP or your router does not have anything to do with that error message. First thing you should try is changing your remote view port number from 80 to something else like 85 or so.
