Honestly I haven't done any Network Printer POS data capture but, I believe that there has to be a UDP streaming service possibly on the POS device or computer that can send the data out. I don't think you can just connect to the printer and capture data this way. I think the data has to be sent out and we subscribe to the UDP stream.

Ok guys, here is another super weird problem from AverMedia this time from an NV5000. I connected the 4 channel audio card to the NV5000. The audio is super fine locally. However, when you connect to it over the network all you hear is this super high hissing sound like a broken radio. I have changed the H.264 compression to MPEG4 and it is still the same. The hissing sound comes when I connect with my Windows Mobile phone as, well. Again, locally it is totally fine. Here are the specs: Dell Vostro 230 Intel E5700 CPU (3.0 GHz) 2GB DDR3 1333 Ram 250GB HDD with 2 partitions Onboard Intel GMA X4500 Windows 7 Pro. 32-bit AverMedia NV5000 Audio Extension Card Lourue Microphone

I certainly agree with you. It's just that I can't develop a software myself so, I "have to" wait for them. God give me the patience

Why in the world would you use an embedded OS for this application?

Just sent back an Eyemax DV-9448 Looking into Avermedia

I don't know which feature of Geovision I have used that Aver does not have... Probably the idle protection settings would be the only one. Most installations are more than satisfied with AverMedias. It is almost the only brand that I use and prefer. Extremely easy to service. -
Where did you get the port number from? Also, there is no IP setting. It is set to APIPA and you have typed a class A IP address.

I actually just talked to AverMedia today. The rep told me that they are aware of the problem and that it will be fixed with the nex version (no time for it though). In the meantime I will roll back the version and see what happens.

I/O is for the add-on card that can be connected to sensors and relays. Watchdog is connected to the reset pins on the motherboard and the reset cable from the case goes to the reset pins on the NV3000. TV out link is connected to the other Nv3000 cards if present so that the TV out signal can be retrieved from that card if the camera to be displayed on TV is on that specific card.

This, by the way happens on 64 bit Windows 7 clients. I talked to AverMedia support about this and they have no idea about how to fix this.

The face finder needs a specific camera that is only focused to the face are. It really needs an upclose picture of the face. sometimes objects that may look like a face (to the computer) are captured as face, as well. The person has to look pretty much straight to the camera. I have used it but I think it is way too early to rely on this.

I would connecto one of the cameras to a test monitor to see where the lines are actually happening. It could be a power problem as well. Are you using 12 or 24V?

Go into the DVR folder in the Program Files folder and then find the folder that corresponds to your screen resolution. You will see many files there, I have not done it but that's how it is done. Look fod the bitmap texture that you want to change. You can basically change any of the icons on the screen and come up with an all different UI.

I know one restaurant POS company whose software can do that. I specifically asked the developer to come up with an interface that sends all the transactions to me whether they are printed or not. Even non-printing changes to the POS ticket data is still sent.

Keep in mind that you will fill all the expansion slots of the case. So, in that case you won't be able to have the audio extension card... at least not inside the case. Good luck!

I haved used several of them without a problem.

An update: The problem happens locally, as well. But not all the time. It maybe OK for hours and go totally distorted for several minutes. Yet, over the webviewer or my PDAviewer the audio is always distorted. Like a broken radio...
-
Maybe the cameras sensor is malfunctioning, not being to tell the lens it is receiving sufficient light. So, the camera might be bad.
-
aahhhh. Third party remote access may not allow you to see the cameras. Because they use their own overlay method, it may not send the overlay data fro AverMedia. Try this with AverMEdia's remote login. You should be able to see it then. Logme-in does not show you the camera images, for example. And a third party remote app is not really a way to remotely view you cameras efficiently.

Where do you record your files? If you have a single 5400rpm kind of HDD it may be a little slow for this. Let me know how your HDD setup is, it may help diagnose it further.

Ok guys, another procedure I tried: Windows 7 Enterperprise x86 client Internet Explorer 9 (yes 9) UAC was still on Turned off Protected Mode (Tools/Internet Options/Security) Typed the address of the DVR. Still gave me the "cannot find ....exe" error but it was still installing the activex control. It did install and connected to the DVR remotely without any problem. So, it seemed like the only actual problem was Protected Mode being on. It would be helpful if everyone who had problems and fixed it using this step post here, so everyone else can benefit, too. Good luck!

PROBLEM SOLVED! Here is how: The actual patch installation still was not done through the standalone patch file. When running the file I could see that there was some disk activity for a few seconds, the process would pause and give me the error. So I knew that the files actually WERE being extracted. To verify this I went to the Task Manager then Resource Manager (You can do this through control panel, too) and expand the "Disk" section in the "Overview" tab. You can see what files are actually being worked on the HDD here. So, I saw the the path was \user\dvr\appdata\temp\7ZipSfx.000. Though when I went there the files were not there. I can tell that they were cleaned up after an unsuccesfull installation. So, I ran the patch file again while I had another explorer window open looking at that temp folder. As soon as the process started, the 7ZipSfx.000 folder was created. I waited before the error message and copied and pasted the 7ZipSfx.000 folder to somewhere else. In that folder I copied the files in the root folder to the DVR Server folder of the actual DVR software. I also copied the Vivotek, Averdigi_SDK, AdioCodec and VideoCodex folders in the IPCamSDK folder in 7ZipSfx.000 to the into the DVR Server\IPCamSDK folder. Ran the AverMedia software and voila! The new supported cameras were listed. I chose my FD8161 and put in the IP address. That was it. Beautiful picture! It took my hours, really. I really hope this helps someone out there. If anything let me know guys. I will try to help. I did everything else possible to overcome this problem. Good thing my customer was my very good friend so he was super patient with it. I want to thank everyone who offered his help in this.

Hey guys, I have been installing AverMedia for years and this year I tried integrating a megapixel camera, Vivotek FD8161, for the first time. It is not in the default supported cameras list but you can patch the DVR and supposedly it then is supported. However, no matter which patch I use, I always get the same error: "Can not patch !You should close the DVR program at first!!" . The DVR program is already closed and it is still doing this. I tried this in Safe Mode, too. No luck. I am technically advanced in computers with certs but I just did not have any luck applying this patch. I would appreciate any experienced inputs. The Specs are: NV6480 Core i3 540 4GB DDR3 RAM nVidia GeForce 310 320GB Seagate + 2TB Samsung HDD Windows 7 Professional x64

That depens on what you need the speed for. I have built a 26 channel DVR with 6 1TB (7200RPM) drives in RAID 10 and the read/write speed is good. RAID 5 will decrease the write speed but it should be just fine. I am even using the 32MB Cached 5400RPM HDDs in Raid 1 and they are doing just fine too. I used Core 2 Quad CPU and not a Xeon one. This was like 3 years ago. 6 months of recording will mean either you will have really low FPS or low resolution. HDD's are super cheap nowadays anyways. You can still go with 5400RPM 2TB HDDs in Raid 10 which will give you more capacity, and speed for pretty much the same price. It would be easier for us if you could tell what resolution and FPS and compression method you plan to use. I would not worry too much about the overheating if you havea good cooling solution. Make sure your power supply runs cool enough, as well.
