  1. I have set up a computer with geovision version 6.05 7 cameras which is not connected to the internet. However it is connected to another computer via LAN . The folders on the geovision computer where the video files are recorded are set to share so that I can both view and change the files. Now say I want to view some video files on the geovision computer I go to \\geovisioncomputer\sharedfolder than find the file I want and click on it and the video files play in windows media player. The problem is that files in the folders cam1 and cam2 play but the files in the other folder cam3 to cam 7 donot play all I get is a blank screen. Things I have tired. 1] Trying to play the files in different video players like VLC or realplayers it does not help. 2] Disabling all firewalls involved. does not help 3] Tweaking windows media player settings. does not help. I am surprised that I can play files in the shared subfolders cam1 and cam2 but cannot do the same in the other subfolders. Have tried google but has provided no answers so far. any ideas anybody thanks.

  4. Using teamviewer http://www.teamviewer.com/index.aspx Great tool. Cannot seem to be able to get it to work. Have installed the below For unattended servers: TeamViewer Host Have set up TCP/IP Filtering in tcp I allow the following ports 80 4550 5550 and 5938 . teamviewer uses the tcp ports 80 and 5838 http://support.teamviewer.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=10 Also in TCP/IP Filtering all UDP ports are permitted. But in TCP/IP Filtering no IP PROTOCOLS are allowed. why cannot I cannot to teamviewer. It is runing as a service and boots up with the computer. do I need to allow ip protocols ???

    teamviewer remote access

In TCP/IP Filtering IP PROTOCOLS to be allowed is 80. So in IP Protocols allow 80 this got it working. But in TCP/IP Filtering all UDP ports are permitted all just want to allow the UDP port for teamviewer and block the rest. which UDP port does teamviewer use. thanks

Geovision 800 dvr card dead fired ??

Great All back to normal now.
  8. Running a geovison 800 card with a total of 100fps. Been runing fine for a 18 months. Recently just switched off the computer at the mains instead of shutting down windows now the geovision system does not work. The computer and windows works fine but the minute I try to strat the geovision system the computer freezes and only restarting the computer gets it out of it. I have done this many times before and nothing has happened. Now I tried reinstalled geovision but the problems persists. I did a total new reinstall by deleting all geovision files including those in the windows directory. And runing regseeker. Now my fear is I may have fired my card by switching it off at the mains instead of shutting down windows but I have done this loads of times before and this has not happened. So if anybody could help me i would be most grateful How do i find out if my card is fired ? Any solutions to bring it to life. Any idea on warranty it is 18 months since purchase. Thanks

Geovision 800 dvr card dead fired ??

Minor problem now but absolutely thrilled it is back up and runing these cards are really sturdy. During the new install I was worried the card might not work thus decided to opt out of the add to start up stuff. Now the card is working fine and I want to add it to the start up program list . How do I do it. Reason being if I donot................ when my pc reboots it does not start up on its own and needs to be manually restarted. thanks for all the help. Must say this site is CCTV and related stuff heaven.

Geovision 800 dvr card dead fired ??

Well I checked the card on a different computer and it was working. And did a reinstall of windows xp and it is working now. Well back to normal. Thanks for your help. Moral of the story 1] If you want to switch the computer off do it properly 2] Geovision cards are quiet sturdy so donot give up on them
  11. I cannot access the geovision webcam server when I have the window xp sp2 firewall activated. Minute I disable the firewall everything works well. I have forwarded the ports 80 3550 4550 5550 in the router. I have set up port filtering allowing the above ports in TCP. Disabling port filtering does not make any difference to access. In the firewall in exceptions I have allowed the above ports and allowed all the programs like geovison webcam server . Any ideas how I can resolve this.

    windows xp sp2 firewall

Thank you for your replies. What puzzles me is I have already added the programs and ports mentioned to the exceptions list and yet the minute I activate the firewall i can no longer view the webcam server. port added were 80 3550 4550 5550 the webcam server is set to run on port 80. also allow all associated programs webcamserver.exe dmwebcam.exe tcpsvr.exe ddns service [as using the dipmap and gotdns.com facility] In the end had to disable the firewall and just use only the port filtering. But had a great time showing it off to friends. But now they think I must have done some dodgy dealings . So if I have set up port filtering is the windows firewall totally unneccassary. Also in my linksys router under security I have firewall protection set to enbabled and the below enabled Filter Multicast and Filter IDENT(Port 113)

    Port Filtering

How does once do port filtering. Do I use windows firewall or the linksys router. A step by step guide would be most helpful. Thank you
  15. Got the webcam server runing fine on port 80 but when I set it to port 82 it no longer seems to work. thought setting it to port 82 would improve security.
  16. Have a GV800 geovision card set up on a dedicated computer which only runs geovision. I would like to set it up so that friends and family can view the cameras. So I am planing to connect the computer to the internet via linksys router. But I need to make sure the geovision computer does not get hacked into. All other computers connected to the router have norton internet security installed. But donot want to install norton internet security on the geovision set up for obivious reasons. I think an unprotect computer gets infected in something like 23 minutes so how do i protect the computer. 1] Any links on set setting up a hardware firewall in the router and a step by step how to guide would be most appreciated. 2] Using a firewall..................Windows firewall and if I use it how to configure it or different firewall if so which one. thanks

    remote view firewall/protect computer

Thanks for those links.......................simply great. Ran through the list. I Have just decided to use windows firewall, and pretty much removed everything else and ran ccleaner. Hope that should be secure enough. How do I go about setting port filtering................any links or a how to do it step by step guide would be great. THere are quiet a few ways to remotely monitor the cctv set up but ..... What is the most secure way to set up remote access i.e that others can view the cameras with a web browser from a remote location with user name and password. Currently I use mutlicam remote viewer. As the geovision computer is in the attic and via an ethernet cable to the main computer I occassionally have a look at the cameras to see what is going on. But will be going on holiday soon and it would be nice if myself and friends and family can login from a browser from time to time to check on things. Thanks in advance.
