    Problem with Panasonic WV-CP484

Is the camera getting power? Does it work locally next to the dvr if you test it? Is the lens ok?

Controlling multiple cameras on GV Net Card

I get the same, no way of getting audio on the matrix view, only on individual live view. Also, on the control center remote DVR you cant seem to use the live object index or search object index, a nice feature, but it only seems to be accesible from the main geo pc...

    Disappointed in Record Quality GV1240

Not tried a 1240, but do use a 1480 and cant say I experience the problems you are getting. What are the specs of the PC used, is everything up to scratch, as recommended by geovision for a minimum system? Could you post some examples of the quality?
  4. That is how a multiplexer works... It flicks between each camera, really quickly. When you need to play back the footage, you have to have the output from the vcr going back into the multiplexer, which then seperates the images so you can pick one to view. You watch the output from the multiplexer, which has un-multiplexed the videoed images back to a normal looking output (albeit slow frame rate, as the frame rate is shared between however many cams you have.... On a timelapse vcr it will be a lot worse as it records frames slower....) You may have to 'sync' the two devices together somehow, often there is a output on the multiplexer that goes to the vcr to tell it each time it has switched to the next image, so the vcr knows what is going on.

Please help me in choosing web hosting

Used godaddy for years myself, their VPS package was great at first, but they have been ripping me off, not giving me the 30gig I purchased, its 3 times now its happened, and its getting ridiculous! Today, ALL my sites on the godaddy server are down, I cant even SSH into the server, its totally dead, and a power cycle did not help. Just waiting for them to get back to me on the support email, not a happy chappy, and not impressed with them today!! Fingers crossed they sort it, when it works its a good package for the price, but at the moment, its not...

    Hey, CCTV on Wheels !!!

Where is the required sign showing who is in charge of the cctv etc, for DPA requirements? Or is it somehow exempt from the signage requirement?

He speaks up for all of us!

Same story in the UK, outlawing on its way of the normal bulb Wish that politician could come over to the UK to give his speech to our leaders.... Wonder what is next, the goverment should never dictate what people can use in their own homes (baring illegal stuff etc)..
  9. The old bill have received a 125 thousand pound bill from a bus company, for cctv footage... More details http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/bristol/7455498.stm I would love to know how they can charge that much? Did they just pull out the actual dvr's out of the buses and let the police walk away with them? Thats the only reason I could imagine for such a huge bill (but even then, they must have taken a lot of dvrs...) Why not just pull of the data and burn to dvd or memory sticks, or pull the hard drives out and stick new ones in?(and lets face it, you could get a lot of hard drives for 125 thousand pounds...) Has anyone had experience of anything similar, where police were involved, did they take a full system, or just the data, or just the drive? The uk police either seem to ignore cctv evidence completely, or go overboard by the looks of things... Would love to know more about this case... .

EBay found liable for counterfeit goods!

Good news, hopefully many more firms will hit ebay where it hurts. They have had a could not care less attitude for a very long time... Sadly though I imagine it will just result in a lot more rules on ebay, with little done in the way of policing it as usual, I guess if they threw the directors in jail for aiding and abetting criminals, then perhaps they may get their act together, but those with money rarely seem to get what they deserve.... Just look at the amount of fake geo cards on ebay... I must have reported countless dodgy auctions (not geo cards tho) over the years till I pretty much gave up, they just hardly ever do a darn thing. As long as they get their fees, they dont care - till the s*** hits the fan, then they make some noises for a while, then its back to normal.... Just my opinion of course, Im sure lots of people have many stories about how great ebay is at keeping its site clean and fraud free (err, surely someone, somewhere.......)

    Cameras for a Restaurant ?

A IR camera may or may not show a faint visible red glow, depending on its specifications. Its often higher end stuff that it totally covert, many IR cams use around 800 to 850 (or thereabouts of the top of my head) nm LED's, which show a faint red glow. LEDS in the 950 ish area are totally covert, and invisible to the human eye (and many cameras, unless they have a CCD that can see in that wavelength)

    Metal Mickey's

Im sure they use the metal mickeys in the UK Big Brother, although they may have changed the internal camera to a broadcast quality one instead of the standard sony block module.

    CCTV professionals get in!

There are lots of hard drive manufacturers, just go to most online store selling hard drives and you should see the different manufacturers ranges on sale. Im suprised you dont know the main manufacturers though if you are a manufacturer of DVR's since 2001 - Hard drives are part of a dvr? Im a little confused over your location also - why Italy? Are you in Italy, the Philippines, or China - its confusing from your profile and previous posts, where you are, and what you do, do you install DVR's or make them?

    Bosch LTC 0455 Repair

Not sure how they could short the camera, if its all cameras on the same power supply that are not working, then it sounds more like they have not damaged the camera's but shorted the power supply supplying all 7 cams (if they are being supplied by the same psu) Check the fuse on the psu, and measure the psu output see if its working...

    what's wrong here?

Not familiar with that camera, but maybe you could see if the IR is reflected in a mirror? It sounds like the IR is not on, if you cant see anymore in the dark with that camera..
  16. Smells spammy to me to, a famous international photographer, but no link to their portfolio, and they did not know how to transfer jpegs on the internet? But they do this for a living? I doubt it...

    GeoVision horizontal line on screen

As it clearly states in the stickies in the forum, the forum cannot provide any support for systems using clone/fake cards. Personally, I would recommend you take legal action against the dealer that is selling fake cards, to claim your money back if possible, and report them to geovision. You can buy genuine cards from many dealers on this forum, or ask geovision for a list of authorised dealers, then you can get support from geovision. You run a business, would you like it if someone ripped your business off? Clone cards are ripping of geovisions profits..... The actual problem may have nothing to do with the card itself, but support can only be provided for systems with genuine parts, if its cloned, we cant help - sorry.
  20. Technically it would depend on the actual licence agreement for the software, and its legal enforcability (microsoft has had flak in court for dodgy licence agreements in the past). Some manufacturers dont mind you altering the look of the software, some will... Often the licence states you dont own the software, just a right to use it, and goes as far as saying you must destroy all copies, or return them to the manfacturer if you dont want to use it any more. They sometimes forbid you to resell the software (making second hand sales illegal for some software) and many times they go above board denying responsibilty/liability for the software, even to include things like not holding them liable for death, injuries, earthquakes etc.... Lots of licence agreements are never read by people installing them, and they are often not strictly enforced (as its not worth the bother, unless something large scale is going on) and some of them wont stand up well in court (as microsoft found out before with its over restrictive licences). Reverse engineering, modifying, copying are often covered, to stop people (or try to scare them anyway) from making copies or different versions they rebadge under their own name. Some companies seem happy for people to skin their products, and even provide means for replacing logo's and altering the installs etc, some will provide a api for further customisation with dealer specific addons, geo seems to be one like that, as it can help their sales if people by the software knowing they can customise it and sell on there own custom version. Its more sales for them at the end of the day.

    QED - New member

    Welcome to the forum.
  23. Did you buy the card recently? Is the seller still on ebay? If its a clone then you could try claiming your money back through ebay or paypal, and leave the seller a negative for selling fraud cards, and report him to ebay.. Maybe it may stop someone else getting ripped of by the seller if he sells again. A lot of cards on ebay seem to be illegal clones, even some genuine cards (that really are genuine) that are sold on ebay are not always what they seem (as the seller claims you get a manufacturers warranty, but sometimes, like in the case of geovision, they dont support or warranty any cards sold on ebay). The forum does not support clone cards, as it if it did, we would be breaking the law by distributing software illegally, and helping the clone industry too, by providing support for free, for products they rip of from real firms, who invest time and money making the real deal.
