Police Station interrogation room system design + 5 cameras
kensplace replied to northeastremote's topic in System Design
You could try Visimetrics (google for visimetrics for the details) they produce stuff like this, suitable for custodial cctv, law enforcement etc. The fastar is a nice unit, self contained DVR, lip synced audio, full d1 resolution etc... Worth seeing if they do a ntsc version, but you may still need a pc to export the footage to burn to a dvd... -
Seems fine now btw, really like it all so far! Great stuff.

You can read more about the piracy problem with these cards on this page http://www.novexcanada.com/pricelist.htm I think their web page is messed up though, as the text quoted above seems to be invisible (but you can see it if you highlight the whole page to make all text visible) You could always try asking the seller for a refund if you bought it new I guess...

I have seen them come up on ebay quite often, at a reasonable price second hand. New, Im not sure if they still carry them, Norbain does not carry the 2050 any more, but perhaps its the same power supply for later domes like the 2060.. Dennard is now owned by dedicated micros, so you can google dedicated micros for their web address for your location, maybe give them a ring to see if they stock what you need. They do appear to be fairly bog standard power supplies, in a ip rated enclosure, I would not build one yourself unless you are qualified to do so, when power supplies are cheap these days. The manual should tell you the volts and amps you need if you want to use a decent third party supply if you cant get hold of the official one. Best bet is ring the manu, or try ebay, I believe there is one on at the moment, and they pop up quite frequently...

He was probably the safest person over there, I bet he had extra security, plus all those news crews that were filming would have needed more security to, so probably not in any real danger...

Just saw this in another forum, 2 armed robbers getting more than they bargained for http://news.bbc.co.uk/player/nol/newsid_7270000/newsid_7270700/7270728.stm?bw=bb&mp=wm&asb=1&news=1&bbcws=1 Bet they were not expecting that to happen!

Wait till all the 'ban camera's' mob realise just how much can be seen from the satellites in space, they will really freak out if they realise they can be viewed in detail, in any open space on the planet, should someone with the authority wish to spy on them...

Just installed it myself the other day, still looking around to get to grips with it all. The multiview seems to work ok on mine though. (although its probably 8.12) where did you get the download from? The remote viewlog is not working at the moment (it works on the main geo server pc, but not on the laptop viewing it remote over the network) it just says unable to locate database or unable to verify database I think it was. Probably a version mismatch possibly as I could only get the main download of geovision, and the driver, the control center files etc were not on the download page from this thread yet. Not sure but I think the frame rate may be slower, but it could be how I have set things up, will have to have a good play around and see how it goes. Quite like the pip zoom and pap features, even though with only normal analogue cams to play with they are a bit pointless really.. Can imagine their use though with a high res camera. I tried re-installing to get the remote viewlog working, but after uninstalling and a reinstall, it stopped working completely complaining about a .ini file being missing, I had to run setup again to get it to work a second time. Hoping the rest of 8.2 is available soon so I can test fully, and hope to get a IP cam (megapixel) one day when the price drops to something reasonable

Anyone ever Heat Shrink RG59?
kensplace replied to rory's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I tend to pick up lengths of heat shrink tubing on ebay, and just use a hot air gun (or hair dryer if I cant find the gun) to shrink it. Looks great, comes in different colours for colour coding too.... -
I can recommend a geovision PC Dvr system, they work well, and being pc based are upgradeable etc.

Real Time Recording Direct To domestic DVD disk
kensplace replied to robinlane's topic in System Design
I have a liteon 5045 hdd/dvd recorder, lets you record from tv/vcr or pretty much whatever you can plug into it, it has audio/video sockets, scart, think it also has firewire socket (not used that though). You can plug in any compatible stuff, if it would work on a tv with those sockets, it would record on the recorder. As its got a hard drive, you can record direct to that, and then edit/burn as many copies as you want later on. Take a look to see whats currently available, as mine is a older model, but yeah, you should be fine. -
Not had any problems with the geovision card I have, as long as you make sure your pc is up to the specs recommended by geovision, and you buy a real, legitimate, recent version geovision card, I cant see you having the types of problems you experienced with a pirated card. Mine is on 24/7 works a treat
