Desperate for help
IseeYou replied to Goatcheese's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Everything on the site is 1000 - that normal? Or they just put that there to get "you through the door" ? -
Cat 6 spools, where is everyone buying theirs at?
IseeYou replied to gilligan's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Usually grab it at TigerDirect -
No idea your location, but looking online for cctv capture cards should bring back a few results. What are the specs of your 2nd computer that will be used for this?

Do you have access to the attic? Go up there and take some pictures. Do you have access to the vents? Open them up and see if you see the camera. Please remember the tin-foil hat when you are doing either of these - cameras can't see people wearing them.

OMG!! Look..another password reset question.

In your second picture - just to the "south" of the sister board there is a RESET SW1. Can you take a closer picture of that location? -
Thank you for this. It really helps to know what others are using. Free isn't always better, but I am a programmer and the 6 lines it took to write the script was far simpler than any form to fill out to get free (or paid) service. Thank you all so much!

At home I have a dynamic ip from my ISP. My firewall is set correctly to ensure baddies stay out! I was just thinking about ways to do the ddns on my own, without the need of a client installed on a PC.
-
Hello, I am of the type that I try to find free instead of pay services. One item that I am looking into is DDNS. From what I read on this forum, http://dyn.com/dns/ used to free but is now a pay service. I use Dropbox on all the PCs that I use and was wondering if anyone can see an issue with using the external IP of where the DVR is opposed to using a ddns? I would run a script on the DVR network that queries what the external IP address is. Then save the IP as a file in Dropbox which would update me as to the external IP of my home network (I also have Dropbox on my mobile so no issues there either). Sounds to me like this is a simple, homebrew DDNS. What are your thoughts? Regards, I See You

Yes, "who knows" , but I know I won't be driving in front of shockwave's place, with the PTZ and the 12am nails he puts on the road, "just to see what the camera picks up". HAHHAHAHAHAHA -

Totally off topic - but I got my CNB's last week. Put them on a test bench - damn they are sweet! Now I have only ever handled a bullet type camera that felt and probably was plastic. I am sure I could shoot a bullet (pun intended) at the CNB and not break anything. They are tough! Also, the VPS and baluns made hook up easy! Now just to play around with the DVR and motion recording. Thanks for all your help! -

Not saying it "can't" be done. Probably not the safest idea. -

Front seats look like bucket seats ... how did they get 6 people in there???? -
Thank you so much! I will be using Cat5 for the install - but with a solid copper core. Just using the cheap stranded for testing for now.

Just wanted to ask the pros - is there an issue with using stranded Cat5e just for testing purposes? Runs would probably be no longer than 25 ft? Planning on just setting up a test bench to play with my new toys. DVR - patch BNC cables - VPS - Cat5e - balun - cams Thanks in advance.
