  1. Do IR illuminators need to be mounted close the to the cameras? Or do you just need to mount it where you can & aim it to the general area you would like to illuminate?
  2. I shipped back my camera to ACTi & is waiting for the RMA unit to arrive. @wxthomson which firmware version is your camera on? Are you recording the video to a PC?
  3. Wow....I was seeing the exact same symptom with my ACTi 7811, it would loose conectivity & the only thing I can do is reboot it. My cameras are connected to an 8 port Netgear GS110TP. 1 Acti & 3 Dahua 2 MP & 1.3MP cameras. Every once in a while it would stop recording video to a Dahua 16 Channel NVR. Will be testing in a week or 2 with a Cisco 8 port 3650 catalyst switch.
  4. I put in the command/url & got ...OK: VIDEO_DN_IRLED='1' ... but the picture looks pretty much the same.. no change I also noticed that the Acti stopped sending video to the NVR (Dahua NVR-16), so nothing has been recorded for the last few days . I have had to reboot the NVR &\or the camera whenever I needed to kick-start the recording. Since both support ONVIF I dont think rebooting either device to engage recording is a viable option for me. The other cameras Dahua ESIP-MP2-DM1 & ESIP-MP1.3BT1 work fine. I rebooted the Acti & now I can not ping or web into it. I think it may be time for an RMA
  5. Acti support adjusted my camera settings.....
  6. That video from the Acti website is what convinced me to get the 7811, in addition to reading buellwinkle's review. Tonight, I will give it a visual inspection
  7. Adjusted settings to AE Reference Target: 15 Maximum Auto Shutter Speed: 1/15
  8. Both Trucks are maroon in color. I have generally left the settings at default & have been adjusting the focus more than anything else. I also have a ticket with Acti but have not gotten any response/feedback for several days
  9. I am assuming these are the settings page I need to focus on to get the night shot better.....
  10. Nite shot......Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh All camera settings are at factory default
  11. I re-focused the camera, cleaned it again & reloaded the latest firmware. The day-time picture looks much better now . Will wait & see the night shot
  12. I have reset the camera back to factory defaults, reload the latest firmware & is going to refocus the camera
  13. I am currently on the latest firmware for the camera. The camera is mounted upside down under the eaves. I have used lens cleaners to make sure the dome is clean both inside & out. There is a motion light below to the left of the camera. Even with that light off, the picture is still snowy
  14. I refocused the camera, the day time shots look better but the night time shoot is still way too snowy
  15. I am not sure what the IR separator is.. Switching to Variable Bit Rate yielded the same results I can see all the IR lights in the camera when I stand in the middle of the drive-way I will confirm that IR board is seated properly tomorrow
  16. I use lens cleaners for my glasses, I am assuming I can use these same wipes to clean the inside of the dome & the lens...
  17. Your best bet would be a JBOD/Raid case, as already suggested. You have already looked at Mediasonic. I use Sans Digital 8 bay (TRU8) connected to my WHS server. I had several drive bays daisy-chained but I needed a lot more space. I ended up building a single chassis Norco RPC-4220 with 20 drives to hold all my drives. I do still have the TRU8 attached for backups & this works fine. These stay on 24x7. My old setup http://www.mediasmartserver.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=60043#p60043 Here is a post with several MediaSonic bays http://www.mediasmartserver.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=72967#p72967
  18. Yes you should be able to use ANY dynamic DNS service to reach multiple hosts or cameras. Your router will have to be configured to redirect the appropriate port to the specific host/camera. Since you are using multiple hosts each one will have to be assigned different WAN port numbers to be reachable. Your router configuration should look something like this. The below settings assume that inside your network cameras are reachable via port 80 Wan redirect port LAN IP 8080 ---------------80 192.1.1.1 camera 1 8081 ---------------80 192.1.1.2 camera 2
  19. I would like to get security cameras & NVR for residence. I started by looking at analog cameras & systems, but after seeing the higher resolution pics from digital cameras, digital is the route for me. I don't know much about cameras but I have narrowed my camera & NVR selection by the following criteria Camera - 3 or 4 IP Dome cameras -areas covered have motion lights -When motion lights go off, area is dark with a little light from neighbors & street lamp -budget $400 ~ $700 per camera -coverage area - front door, drive-way & backyard -general distance to be covered per camera 20X20ft -1.3 ~ 3 megapixel, not sure if I even need 5megapixel or greater NVR -email notification on motion -Blackberry & Android app support -preferably 1080p recording on all channels -HDMI outputs - Will be using 2 TVs, one up stair & the other down stairs for live view I have looked at Acti cameras .... KCM-7311,TCM-7811, TCM-7411, ACM-7411. I think these have descent specs but I am not a camera guy. In terms of NVR I have looked at Dahua 16 channel Do the NVR require licenses to accommodate cameras? Is licensing based on the number of cameras you would like to use? Do the NVR come with the mobile apps? Or do these have the be purchased separately Will the NVR software work with any or most IP cameras?
  20. Essentially I would like to see the same view from either TV, say if I am either up stairs or down stairs & would like to view events. Are there NVRs that can do 30FPS on 8 channels @ 1080p? I know I mentioned that I have motion lights, but I would like cameras with good low light performance as well, just my luck the one time the motion lights don't kick in is the day there would be an incident...know on wood
