  1. 8 Channel NVR: $1,500 @2TB..... But the cameras are $230 each lol Recording Rate: 240ips @ 1080p, 720p, D1 Playback Rate: 60ips @ 1080p, 240ips @ 720p, 480ips @ D1 Does the playback rate mean you can have a split screen with each side doing 30fps but not show any other video? What if you had 4 cameras up on a 55'' screen doing 1080p would they all be brought down to 15fps? The price does seem a bit off doesn't it?
  2. For all my Canadian peeps!!!!!!! As per the Costco Winter Savings Guide: From Jan 28th to Feb 10th 2013 Select QSee Security Systems are up to $300 off online only!!! They better have the HD ones on sale or I'll get medieval on someones @ss! I wonder if all our Emails to them had something to do with this?? And Happy New Years!!!!
  3. I just spent half an hour writing Costco.ca an email (begging for better cameras) which got deleted because of an error from their servers, So I'm... short right now so please bear with me... So the 4ch is $1000 here in Canada but I still think it's worth it because of the warranty... Yes or No? Who's comparable (with warranty)? Now the 4ch has 4 real ports, the 8ch still has 4 real ports but the software allows for 4 more cameras you just need a switch.. correct? It may come with an extra 1TB hard drive but an extra $500 for 1TB and a software upgrade seems strange. Would it not be better to just get 2 of the 4ch systems? 4 cameras on 24/7 doing 720P @ 30fps on a 1TB drive... How long before it starts to rewrite over itself? a week? Thanx for the help guys!
  4. I recently got a few quotes for running cables throughout my house for 8 outdoor cameras. All were well over $1000 just for running the wires, I would do it but there is no easy access so I would have to start ripping stuff up. I was looking at the Logitech alert system(Uses your plug ins for data transfer) but it lacks in quality. So I got the idea to find some other cameras that use the same technology. It just so happens that where ever I want to put a camera there is a light right there that I could steal power from. So anybody know of some good cameras that use this ingenious technology?
  5. Since HomePlug Powerline technology is a no go, I'm force to go to WiFi. I've read the words HD and WiFi should not be used in the same sentence so please tell me what the next best camera is.

    HD and....... WiFi

Do they have a decent camera for $200? No prices on the website
  7. After searching for Powerline camera's the only thing I constantly see are Logitech's Alert system
  8. I was going to just steal the power from the outside lights . There are 7 lights outside exactly where I want to put the cameras so I was going to splice into the wires for the lights and steal the juice. I just need to find a good camera system to do it.
  9. WFT? The words . have been replaced by Dahua..

    Logitech Alert???

After almost giving up on finding a decent priced outdoor camera that can withstand the winters here I found the Logitech Alert System. It is cheap and rated to -30C!!!... with no heater lol.... the video quality... decent HD but have to do more research. It works by using the electrical wires to send data. Good thing??? I dont have to run any wires through out the house now yaaa!! I don't want the software that comes with the Master system because I want all 6 cameras offline. I was thinking of running them all to another offline computer. What are your thoughts on this system? Good enough for IDing a perp from 30' away if I pause and zoom in? I can't find anything else for $200 that can stay outside and have HD quality.... Thanx for the help!!!

    Logitech Alert???

kidjan: Thanx for the comparison!! Isn't Digital PTZ software related? I mean its the software you use for recording that enables you to do it right? I'm looking at getting "Digifort", they say they can do the same thing but is there any difference? I am also putting new lights around the house so the video is not so grainy at night. Motion detection is useless for me, I will be recording 24/7 at max resolution. Just have to make sure I have enough storage for 2 weeks at a time.... Still have to figure out how much storage that's going to be lol Any word on how the -30C rating came to be??? Thanx again!
  12. After watching the video's of 700e and comparing them to the Dahua 2MP dome I am going with the Dahua but with lots of lights on. I went to the Logitech website and they have a forum for the alert cameras and most everybody hates the software that comes with the camera but rate the actual cameras as pretty good for the money... Seems choppy to me at 960 x 720 @15fps
  13. After reading a lot of posts around on this forum I have noticed that as well, I have also noticed that those cameras seem to give you the best bang for your buck just as Soundy said. Atleast he's not spreading mis-information and he is very helpful.

    Logitech Alert???

    Hahaha that would work!!
  15. 300winmag

    Logitech Alert???

Good to know, thanx bud. Looks like I'm back looking at the Dahua dome again then!!

    Logitech Alert???

Something like that Buying 6 cameras at once for use in winter when they are not rated for it is a big gamble. I just want to hear from someone who has had them go through the winter just to make sure im not wasting money because warranty would not cover them if something happened.
  17. 300winmag

    Logitech Alert???

More secure, less to worry about. Peace of mind really.
  18. 300winmag

    Logitech Alert???

So you think them Dahua 2MP dome cams could with stand Calgary winters?
  19. 300winmag

    Logitech Alert???

Can you think of something around the same price/quality but rated for winter? $200 each is a steal if I can find the right ones.

    Logitech Alert???

I almost pulled the trigger on 6 Dahua 2MP dome cams but the -10C rating killed the idea for me. The price is bang on for those cams but its just to cold here in the winter. Still not sure how Logitech claims theirs is -30C rated.

    Logitech Alert???

I can't find much on the 700e add on camera or the PoE B700e. is it posssible to use either of these with out Logitechs master system software? I keep reading its very limited. Would you suggest the PoE or the "Powerline Technology"??
  22. Sean can you confirm the Dahua ESIP-MP2-DM1 Hi Def 2 MP MegaPixel Outdoor Mini Dome IP Camera has an operating temp of -10°C~+60°C?? I was looking at getting 4 to 6 of these but it gets down to -35°C here. Options for around the same price and quality???
  23. Thanx for the tips guys, I'm trying to look at a bunch of camera's but every site I go to won't tell the price!! Annoying as hell because I don't want to waste my time drooling over a 1K camera. Is there an IP camera that has adjustable focus and even a bit of zoom on the camera it self? I see a bunch of different lenses I could get.... And now I just realized it gets down to -35C here so most cameras are out the door now. I don't want to get a camera with a heater!!
  24. The wife and I just bought a house and we would like to put up a cctv system. I am in the middle of the basement reno right now(no drywall yet) so it would be a good time to run cables. I have a budget of up to $300 for A good quality... zoom??? camera, will need 4 to 6 of them and I would like to hook them up to my offline computer but was told by a pro today that a PVR is a much better idea. He would not go into detail though... which is better? So as a newb I need to know what cables to run from the cameras outside to the basement where they will be run up to the second floor office, but first don't I need to know what cameras I'm getting or do they all run on the same cables? I don't want to buy cameras yet because I have done no research, however I need to run the cables soon because the basement is close to being dry walled. Man this is crazy I have so much stuff on the go it's insane so any help would be appreciated. Good Camera Models up to $300??? Which lines to run from cameras to basement??? Cat6 and a power cables?? Power cables stay in the basement beside the breaker box??? Winters are cold here so it has to be weather proof. Fixed lens are a pain so I'm thinking of getting zoom... unless its a crazy overpriced option then I will stay with fixed for better picture. Any tips or explanations would be of great help
