Qsee is simply re branded Dahua. Dahua does have 4MP HD-CVI cams now and I suspect thats exactly what these are. My own 2MP Dahua cams perform just as well as 2MP IP cams for what its worth. As far as the IR night vision, I can't say for certain but I typically take whatever the manufacturer says and cut it in half for "effective" IR distance.

Nothing against IP, I'm running a mix of both CVI and IP. I can set the remote viewing substream at whatever resolution and fps I like and can do it remotely. CVI has come a long way recently. For about 1/2 the cost of IP cam's you can now run 4MP CVI cam's, Starlight, and IVS features such as tripwire, intrusion, face recognition, etc. all without being an ip network guru IP cam's do have some advantages, but the latest CVI stuff from Dahua isn't your granddads analog anymore

You don't need to run separate power to CVI cams. They are very much plug and play with a CVI capable DVR. Basically same as POE on IP cameras. I use Cat5 and video baluns at each end. 3 pair to the power side and 1 pair to the video balun. I have some very good Dahua 2MP CVI cams and It's very hard to tell the difference between them and 2MP IP cams. The new S3 model Tribrid Dahua DVR's allow you to run a mix of CVI and IP cams as well as full 30fps 1080p on all channels.. The 7208 I have allows me 8 CVI channels and an additional 4 IP channels. http://www.dahuasecurity.com/en/us/category.php?cid=540

Opinions on this camera please Vitek, VTC-IRE70/650

Thanks, yeah I know the IR won't be as good as spec, more important for daytime anyway. Most of the burglaries occur during the day. -
http://www.surveillance-video.com/vtcire70650.html?cmp=googleproducts&kw=vtcire70650 Any comments on this camera or the manufacturer - Vitek? It has all of the features I am looking for. I have a system I've installed that I purchased using an e*esurv Full D1 DVR and (6) 700 TVL bullet cams around my home. Now I need one camera to see down the street to fully cover the street approx 8-10 houses down. This is a small cul-de-sac HOA of which I'm being reimbursed so that we can watch vehicles entering and leaving the street as well as provide an additional deterrent with signage. We had a break in 2 houses down the other day, and my one cam was able to provide LE with good evidence as to the make/model of vehicle which allowed them to ID it as stolen that day in another part of town. Thanks in advance.

Help/Advice on new home system

Update: All 5 cameras installed, I think I'll get one or two more 700 TVL cameras as they kick serious butt. The mini dome, not so much. Funny how ya get what ya pay for. The mini dome is just not as crisp and clear, not bad, just an obvious difference vs the 700. -

Just an update. Well I got started late due to an illness in the family, but last weekend got the DVR setup and 2 cameras installed. Got all accessible from my LAN, and can view via iPhone and iPad. Still having trouble logging in from a remote PC however...??? I hit the login screen, but can't login...so port 80 is open... ALSO! The Netgear WNCE3001 WiFi Adapter works great from the Dahua FULL D1 8 to my Apple wireless router, so no messing with a long ethernet cable that I could not get from point A to Point B anyway. Got Motion detect sending me emails on a key entry point, recording working well, learned the basics of searching for past events and still need to spend time figuring out how to snag copies off the DVR for any "real" event. Now 4 more cams to install, then I really need to dig into tweeking the settings on the cameras as I left them at factory settings. Thanks forum for all of your help. -
WiFi adapter from DVR to Wireless router?
bigredfish replied to bigredfish's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Thanks Soundy. I see the one I called out as well as others have 450 mbps capability, made for streaming video. Seems like those would be the ticket. I'll let ya know in about a week -
WiFi adapter from DVR to Wireless router?
bigredfish posted a topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I saw a post by Sean where he said he was able to connect the DVR via a WiFi adapter to the local WiFi router vs running cable. I have a difficult chore getting ethernet to where my Dahua DVR is going to be. So this looks like the top of the line WiFi adapter...http://www.netgear.com/home/products/wireless-adapters/ultimate-wireless-adapters/WNCE4004.aspx# Any reason this shouldnt work? About 35 feet from DVR to Router on same level -

Help/Advice on new home system

So after digging a bit deeper, I see I need a Hybrid DVR if I want to have IP/megapixel camera capability.? So My new list looks like this: - Dahua HYBRID 16 Channel Analog plus 16 Channel IP Security DVR/NVR - (3) 700 TVL Outdoor Infrared Security Camera W/ True Day/Night ICR 2.8-12mm (outside on 3 corners of house, and one under patio roof to watch 2 patio doors) - (1) 650 TVL Outdoor Night Vision Eyeball Dome Security Camera 3.6mm - (for inside the house) - (1) Dahua IPC-HDB3200C Hi Def 2 MP MegaPixel Outdoor Mini Dome IP Camera - (Above front door in small protected entrance approx 10' up looking out) -
So I think I have found that my original idea on a DVR won't be compatible with IP/Megapixel cameras if/when I upgrade? See this thread i the residential forum http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=30920 So it seems I'll need a Hybrid DVR...which ups the cost quite a bit Otherwise, what do you think about the system I've suggested? thanks
