New addition to my home security system.

Yep, that would be affective for a few scars and stitches. As a previous past due collector for the cable company, it is amazing the things they teach you on how to handle a dog in attack mode! I wont go into detail, but I will say that Myth Busters did an episode recently on attack dogs and their myths. A really large box of dog biscuits DO work. Any dog will become your best friend, that is, until the box runs out!

    Binary Cracked -2(2)

Well, you could always run spinrite on the hdd. Course, you will need several days if it's a large hdd. If it has bad sectors, it will map em, and in some cases actually restore it! Its a pretty good program I used to use before hdd's became cheap.

    IE 7 jumping

1 word Money It's cheaper to have one of the computer nerds in the office to program a database using a web browser versus spending thousands on a database program.

    Robbery on December 31, 2006 (ICR-Pro DVR)

Is it me? or did anyone else notice that not one of those idiots were wearing gloves? Also, that is one tough piece of glass! Holy crap! A good set of bars on both sides of that door, and they would have never gotten in. Of course, last but not least, a dog doesnt hurt either!

    IE 7 jumping

Our warehouse is linked with 4 other warehouses, and we share the same database. Database is full of numbers for equipment assigned to techs and to assign to techs, etc, etc. Yes, the best option would be to use Firefox, however, me being low management, the upper management does not want us using firefox. Why? I never get a straight answer on that one.

    IE 7 jumping

We tried it for one day at the warehouse. What a joke. If you have to scan more than 3 items using a bar code scanner in a continuous action, it stops responding to the end of the bar code. After the morning was done and had a chance to breathe, I quickly ran the system restore to get rid of IE7. Wont be making that mistake again until a service pack has been released.

    repeatit wireless

Wow, that is thick! I dont know which would be worse, 10 foot thick solid wall or standard cinder block filled with lead based paint! (my house is so old!)

    repeatit wireless

Well, sorry I missed this one. I would have told you that would be perfect for what your wanting to do. +19db gain is more than enough for only 30 yards line of sight. In fact, just to let you know, with the +19db gain, you could mount the antenna's inside that wall and still get good signal (grin)

  18. Wow, and I thought I was bad when I didnt wanna go down 14 floors to get my fish rods. I didnt use wire cutters, but I did use a large screw driver. The things we do to save time!

    D#%!! newfangled DSL modems!!!

Getting them bridged correctly, I have probably seen 10 different models in the last 2 months. If cable tried that crap I could just swap in a Linksys and spoof the MAC but PPOE doesn't work that way. Ok, I just set one up for my brother. He has a dsl modem with a linksys broadband + wireless. All I had to do was go into the router, setup to use ppoe supplied the user name and password and all was done. If your router doesnt support the differnt connections, then yes, your gonna have a problem. However, I do know the linksys does work.

    Mouse trap

Man that was one STRONG trap! It flipped over and the mouse as well!!
  21. Ok, ive been looking at alot of the differnt software thats out there. I am unable to find one that will do (or atleast close to it) what I would like for it to do. I cannot program my own software, as I dont have the knowledge to be able to do such a thing. Heres what I would like for it to do. 2 seperate web pages. 1 for passworded logins. 1 for anon access. The one for the passworded access will access all camera's and view them on a decently laid out diagram. The one for the anon access will only show the person the camera that I have selected. Is there software out there that will do this? The camera system I have, cause I know this is gonna be asked. It's a digivue camera package system purchased from MACE Security. edit: If I posted this in the wrong section would you please be so kind to move to the right one? Thank you.
  22. Ya, dont make the same mistake I did. I set one of my work camera's a little "too sensitive". A stand type fan that was set to rotate when the office girls leave, blew a sticky note off the monitor. Needless to say, the video started recording and doing its thing as the little sticky note slowly glided down to the floor. Of course, the phone rang, the pager went buzzing and the nextel went beep beep beep! I quickly run to my computer, log-in remotely while having 91 pushed on the phone. Rewind to activation since nothing was moving in live mode, and low and behold, the sticky note was the culprit! Nothing worse than trying to go back to sleep at 3am!
  23. I am guessing that your talking about the software that controls the GEO-Vision card? Ugh, I cant afford another card right now. I was looking at the luxriot software, but it doesnt mention anywhere that it can do this. Anyone else?

    Laptop Issues

Oh you'd be surprised how much people will pay if you can save 50% or MORE of their data!!! Just to give you an example. Most HDD recover places charge approx 50$ a MEG and HIGHER!!! I had an hdd that a customer brought to me almost in tears. This poor guy told me he couldnt afford the 1500$ he was quoted from one of those we guarantee 99% recovery places. So I told him look, it's an obvious loss. Let me have the HDD. I'll contact you in a week and let you know how it goes. He gave me the hdd. 4 days later, I was able to recover 88% of the hdd and the rest was just toast. When I called the guy on the phone, I asked him what was the most important folder he needed? He told me it was a folder he created off his desktop. I looked at the recovered data, and I said, I think I got that! He was at my doorstep in 10 mins flat! He walks in with 300$ check in hand I gave him his data and all was well in his world! (and nicely compensated in mine!)
