Anyone have experience with this site?

No, not yet. Still trying to decide on the system I want. I went by their office because they're local. They were pretty helpful. Might pull the trigger soon though. -
I'm looking at a system on security camera king website. Anyone have anything to say about them? Good reliable company/good products? I was looking at the 16 channel Elite Mini NVR (Product# NVR-ELM-16) and the 1.3 megapixel dome and bullet cams (Product# IPOD-EL1MPIR50 and Product# IPOB-EL1MPIR50). Price seems pretty good compared to what I've seen elsewhere. Any comments/suggestions on this setup for a residential DIY application? Thanks in advance.

That's the same system I was looking at. I wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on them. The return policy at costco is great but from what I understand the stuff they've sold before isn't the greatest. I was wondering if they were starting to get some good stuff. The only downfall is the 4 channel. I need a system with at least 8 so I'm holding out hope that they'll get bigger systems soon.

Anyone have anything to say about the new Q-See NVRs? They're claiming the 16 channel has 1080 resolution at 7 fps or 720 at 15 fps on all channels. The 8 channel NVR has 1080 on all channels at 15 fps and 720 at 30 fps. Also both have 4 POE ports built in. They are selling the 8 channel for $700 and the 16 channel for $800, both without a HDD.

What kind of system should I get?
mistabob22 replied to mistabob22's topic in General Digital Discussion
Thanks guys. From what I have seen that Avigilon system is very expensive. I just did a basic google search though. I'll have to see what I can do. Thanks again -
I need some guidance on what kind of system I should get for my home. I planned on doing it myself to save $. 1. Should I get a regular DVR system w/ full D1 recording or an IP system? Not too familiar w/ the IP systems but from what I gather they are better quality? 2. What about outdoor cameras at night? Does the IP system offer good nighttime recording? 3. What about price? I gather that the IP is much more expensive? I don't want to break the bank but I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I'm likely to be unsatisfied if the recording isn't good quality. 4. The whole point of a surveillance system is to ID suspects for the police so facial recognition is important. 5. Finally, ease of use. Is the IP system overly difficult to figure out? I would also like remote viewing on Iphone. Thanks for any help.

Thanks guys. I've already returned it. I'm eyeing another system that claims to be full D1 recording at 30 fps. From the webpage: (Full D1 Recording Resolution: Broadcast-quality D1 704x480 pixel resolution, 480 FPS Total (30FPS per camera x 16 cameras). This about what I need? I probably won't use any more than 10 cameras at some point down the road. Thanks again for all the help.

Very valid points. I really couldn't see much of a difference between the 7.5 and 30. Is that the same for all cameras/DVRs or just the Samsung. I have very limited knowledge on the subject but I would have thought that there would be a significant difference between the two. And any ideas on where to get good cameras for a good price if I were to build my own or do you also suggest Dahua for cameras as well? Thanks again.

I already bought one of those complete systems before reading here that they are not the best. I have a q-see model QT2124 that has 24 channels (not that I plan on using that many cameras but it is what came in the package deal). I realized that it only records in CIF. The 13 cameras it came with (1 PTZ) are 600 TVL. Should I be concerned that the image quality will not be good enough in CIF (I haven't hooked it up yet)? I've seen some DVRs that do D1 but at 7.5 fps. Does the reduced framerate on D1 make the image look choppy? Should I make an attempt to exchange it? I already spent $1000 on this system. Am I stuck with paying much more for a better system? Thanks for any help.
