  1. I have a couple Dahua HFW2100 cameras set up at my home. When viewing them from each internal web page it looks fluid real time, however whenever I view remotely from my phone using the IP Cam Pro app I get about 1 frame every 3-6 seconds. It also updates this slow when using my laptop via the internet. Is it because my internet is too slow to upload? I have Comcast cable and have what I thought was a decent upload speed. Thanks in advance!
  2. The app I am using is IP Cam Pro by Robert Chou. I has an option to use " experimental h.264 dvr code". Which I am using.
  3. Maybe it's the app? What android app is everyone using?
  4. Here's the results. I am located just north of Atlanta, GA: Local: Cross Country:
  5. I am 100% sure as the speed is slow even with no computers turned on.
  6. I have nothing else using any bandwidth when I tried to view the cameras.
  7. Not sure what my upload speed is but its probably less than 2mb up. I was able to set the sub stream to a CBR of 40 and do 5fps. Then by using a rtsp stream url I changed the subtype to 1 instead of 0 which I guess means the sub stream? Now when viewing from the mobile app I get about .9fps. This is good enough as I only want to see if someone is walking around my entry points.
  8. I'm waiting for the IPC-HDW2100 to come out. It's an outdoor camera but looks compact enough to work well indoors. http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/ipc-hdw2100-195.html How about the IPC-HDBW3110? Is this an older camera? Looks like it has more IRs, but I am not able to find it for sale and the supplier I use stated it wasn't on sale yet. http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/ipc-hdbw3110--24.html
  9. I purchased a couple Dahua HFW2100 NTSC cameras from an overseas seller and received PAL versions. The seller has given me a link to download General_IPC-HX2XXX_Eng_N_V2.100.0000.8.R.20120523.bin which should update it to NTSC. Is this possible or do I need to send them back? Thanks.
  10. Well it seems to have worked. I used the config tool that came on the disc and upgraded the firmware. I am able to run 30fps and it says NTSC. Problem solved.
  11. It has no analog out. Just a RJ-45 port.
  12. So I just went and picked up a 5 year old Dell PowerEdge 2950 rack server for $300. It has 2 Xeon quad core 2.33ghz processors, 16gb mem, 2 73gb 15k SAS hdds in RAID, and 6 more empty bays, 2 Gigabit NICs. OS will be Windows 2008. This kills 2 birds as I was going to buy a server for my home media storage. So once I get it up and running I'll try out a few programs to make sure it runs well, and pick up 1 camera to try out.
  13. When my house was being built I prewired it for security cameras with both CAT5e and RG59 siamese at each location. I was going to use an analog Q-See DVR I just bought but now I am thinking of going digital with a NVR. I like how much cleaner and sharper the picture is with IP cameras. I cant imagine that I would need more than 8 channels now but maybe in the future when cameras are cheaper I could add more. Max 16 channels. How much bandwidth do the cameras use? I would probably use PoE for most of the cameras, so I am trying to figure out if I need a gigabit switch or would a 10/100M be OK? It seems that Dahua is most recommended here. It looks like the DH-NVR3216 would fit my needs now. I have a question on the recording resolution. It says it can do 16@D1, 8@720p, 4@1080p. So if I ran 8 cameras at 720p, that would max it out, correct? Is D1 good enough and if so should I get 1.3MP cameras or would that be a waste if the NVR is only recording at D1? Thanks in advance!
  14. Hmmmm, the 3216 can be purchased for under $400, but free software on a PC sounds interesting. Would that eliminate the channel restrictions and quality restrictions? Any particular Windows based software that works with a web browser and a good Android app that you recommend? I already plan on building a server for file storage and media use.
  15. Looking for a quality DVR with 8 Ch (BNC) to replace the current old junk EverFocus that meets the following requirements: Motion recording (only records when it detects motion) PTZ cruise recording Smart phone access I currently have 1 PTZ dome camera that will be used with the new DVR, and will need cameras that do the following: 2 - Indoor cameras that cover 800-1200 sq ft each (2 separate rooms) 2 - Outdoor cameras that have a range of about 130 ft. (good enough to read a license plate at about 100' day or night) 1 - Outdoor camera that has a range of about 60 ft. Looking to keep this under a $600 budget if possible. I already have a hard drive so the DVR can be w/o a hard drive. Thanks in advance!
  16. Picked up a couple of the QS-408s at a CompUSA in FL. Installed one today at my work shop and was very disappointed in the fact that it does not work with IE. I chatted with their tech support and was informed that the plugin for IE crashes. I asked if there was any fix and was told "no." So the only way to view it remotely is with FireFox by installing an IE Tab plugin. Quite the PITA. Probably going to return them both and look for something else.
  17. So how much for a good DVR? Was looking at the Q-See QS408 for $169 but not sure on the quality.
  18. Not interested in anyone selling stuff to me. Looking for opinions from consumers using similar equipment.
