    Housing Manufactures/Suppliers

Hi, Most people use generic ones. You should be fine.

An addition to my existing system

As long as you have extra ports on your DVR. I don't see why it wouldn't work. There are also pinhole versions of that board camera which only requires literally a pin sized hole. The quality image of a non pinhole lens looked better when I tested it.

    Cost effective NVR Software

What brand cameras? Will you be using RTSP or ONVIF? Nothing is better than free. Free requires low tech support when setting it up though.

    couple of questions

Most hybrid software use ONVIF or RTSP. During tests I noticed inconsistent video transmission which was really disappointing. Just received a test hybrid NVR, It was good the first day but by day 3, the screen was freezing up from time to time. My recommendations. Stick with axis and pay the money if you don't want complications.

HD-SDI over RG59 Coax and Baluns

Tested HD-SDI on 300 feet of wiring and its clean and clear. We just used standard wiring. Coax. RG 59U 95% 18/2 Power Cable Our thinner premade cables did not work well however, there was smears and tears in the image video feed with flickering picture. Also a standard 3 feet cable with a bad twist on connector had the same effect. You need a tight connection.
  7. Install the software over and directx. Update your video card drivers too.

    watching cameras without dydns

Dyndns actually gives you 1 free ddns if you quit the trial offer. But I think they send you an email every now and then so you can let them your your dns is still active.

    D1 vs. CIF?

CIF is to save hard drive space. D1 is maximum resolution for analog DVRs. Most DVRs show a D1 resolution but actually compress recordings to CIF making D1 Useless. You need a D1 recording @ 30 FPS for full benefits.

    couple of questions

Hi, Your going to figure out what software you will use first and see the compatibility list.

    Does my graphics card matter?

Need the latest video card drivers and DirectX for best image. Onboard is almost always enough because it is usually rendered through directx.
  13. Lots of IR. More the better. Big IRs can help also example an 8 mm vs 5mm.

Is D1 quality what you see in real time?

realtime is considered 25-30 frames per second.
  15. You should purchase a PCI DVR Card. Or just another cheap usb DVR and hope it doesn't burn out and is compatible with windows 7 64bit (try compatibility mode).
  16. HDMI is only recommended up to 50ft. Anymore, you would need to convert hdmi to cat5 to hdmi again. VGA or HDMI, at those lengths do not buy a cheap thin cable.

    Home installation

we sell wireless senders. The cheap ones are very inconsistent. The expensive ones are ok but still inconsistent at times. It really depends on the radio interference in your area. In the long run its not worth it for real security purposes. There is also a technology I haven't used yet. Its called Video over Powerline. Its good for only 1 camera and it runs through your existing homes power system.

    A little advice please....

ccd is slightly better. we sell 420 tvl cmos and 420 tvl sony ccd. Most installers cant tell the different unless its side by side. Also check if its a 1/4 image sensor or 1/3. 1/3 is always better because most lenses are made for 1/3.

    Surveillance DVR recording quality Q

do i have any other options? No Iv'e looked everywhere on the net and i really can't find anything equating the "recording resolution" with the resolution you get when viewing over the internet. Are these identical issues? Most analog DVRs do not send a full resolution remotely. Its normal. You need a HD camera for a better picture. Are 8 channels at D1 using too much bandwidth to stream? Is a "FULL D1" dvr my only option if my main goal is to just view all channels at higher resolution? It is not too much bandwidth. Full D1 is usually a realtime visual quality feed but can also be a recorded on some DVRs. The resolution of D1 in todays standards is very poor. My best example of D1 is like a classic gameboy resolution on a 50 inch HD TV. Conclusion: your stuck with that setup.

Help/Advice on new home system - Eyesurv D1

Buy a HD-SDI DVR and camera. Some are hybrids(420-700tvl and 720-1080p) and they have 720P and 1080P. They run on regular coax and is easy to configure. You will not be sorry in 10 years that you purchased it.

    watching cameras without dydns

Hi, The thing about creating your own DDNS. If your IP address constantly changes it will not work. If your using a static IP, then a DDNS is not needed.
  24. Hi, It is normal for a PTZ IP Camera to have a slight delay. We have a 1.0 Megapixel and 1.3 Megapixel demo in house. The delay is very slight but the delay can also be caused by low bit rate and bandwidth problems.
