  1. There is a good list of things about this here http://webdesign.about.com/cs/multimedia/a/aawebcams.htm I notice that I cannot post URL links here, perhaps as I am a newbie. You'll need an FTP capable DVR which is capable of uploading the feed to your pages where (your server) resides. Many H264 DVR's can do this. Obviously, your internet connection will need to sustain the upload speed and bandwidth that you select. Upload speed is not the same as the download speed that everyone usually goes on about, my download speed is a paltry 1.2Mb and the upload is around 200Kb (we live in a major Scottish city that is stuck in the dark ages although my country cousins enjoy twice the speed only a few miles away). Even my 70-year old Mum gets 6mb and she only uses that for Emails. Google 'FTP webcam' and you'll probably see many examples to get you going. It may take some time to get your head around the intricacies of your web page HTML coding and accessing the right server directories. You may need to also use a good FTP program to dig around on the server side of things rather than rely on Sharepoint Designer or Front Page to help you out. Another option is to use a viewer directly linked to your DVR see this at http://www.robertwisbey.com/how_to_web_cam_wme.html if you are interested. A fixed IP address for your internet is useful to make things easier for you if you are going to do this. Sounds like a fun project. When you get it all going, you can post back with your findings!
  2. Hi, you are right, that firmware is too old, I had the same problem with my AVTECH KPD674B-B but nobody seems to come up with the answer online! The firmware must be updated using a USB stick (try a 2Gb one as only some work) the files you need are a collection download from here (no sure if I am allowed to post a URL as this is my first post) http://www.b2b-empretel.com/mercado/albums/albums/Software_Firmware/AVTECH/Firmware/KPD674ZB/ which is version 1015-1003-1008-1003. Extract the files from the downloaded RAR file (search Google for WinRar) then copy these onto the USB stick using your PC into the root directory (do not create other directories). There are 4 files, all with _4.bin in the name. Go to the DVR, login as admin user (password normally 0000) and using a mouse plugged into the front USB, right click and select system, tools, upgrade. It asks for the USB stick to be inserted, insert stick then the upgrade will start once you click OK. Takes about 2 mins, it then reboots. If asked to retain information, just click no. This procedure is also the way to fix login problems with remote network access to the DVR. Without the upgrade, you cannot log into the system using any combination of admin/000 or admin /admin type of password. The later version software allows you to configure a number of users with usernames and passwords. Once this is done, the DVR can be accessed from local network or using an iphone with the EagleEyes software. Have fun! I forgot to say that the HDD problem may go away if you update the firmware but your HDD is not in the current compatibility list so it may be a problem needing another HDD: MANUFACTURER MODEL CAPACITY ROTATION ST3320613AS 320GB 7200 rpm ST33500320AS 500GB 7200 rpm ST3750330AS 750GB 7200 rpm ST31000340AS 1000GB 7200 rpm WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200 rpm WD5000AACS 500GB 7200 rpm WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 rpm WD7500AAKS 750GB 7200 rpm WD10EADS 1TB 7200 rpm WD15EADS 1.5TB 7200 rpm WD20EADS 2TB 7200 rpm STM3500320AS 500GB 7200 rpm STM3750330AS 750GB 7200 rpm HDT725032VLA360 320GB 7200 rpm HDS721010KLA330 1000GB 7200 rpm
