    Greetings

I have been in the business of installing, and servicing CCTV cameras, and DVR systems for the past five years. I have experience with Chance-i (DiViS) DVR cards, and GeoVision DVR cards. I have had both brands installed in my own DVR at home, and worked extensively with Chance-i with the company I have worked for. I have installed many Chance-i systems, and tinker daily with my own. I know a lot about installing and servicing camera and recording systems, but I still have a lot to learn. I have installed many types of cameras, domes, bullets, IR bullets, IR domes, box cameras in housings, hidden pin hole cameras, and PTZ cameras. I have some networking skills. I have recently pulled cat-5 through my entire home and installed internet jacks in every room. I have hooked up customer DVR's to their network or internet connection. I pretty much know Chance-i DVR systems like the back of my hand, if you have any questions, ask me. I may be able to help

    Does my graphics card matter?

I know from experience that it absolutely matters (on some DVR cards) depending on what DVR card you have. If you have a low-end DVR card, your onboard video should be enough. But most high-end professional DVR boards, hi-res cards, you HAVE to meet the system requirements from the manufacturer or the card will not work. I installed a hi-end Chance-i card in a customers system and it would not boot up no matter what we did. We used a hi-end GeForce video card, and it still wouldn't boot up. I finally called the manufacturer and they said that the card required a specific Raedon graphics card or it wouldn't work. Your operating system must also match the requirements. The card I had called for Windows 7 64-bit. It may even call for specific motherboards and chipsets, the Chance-i card called for Intel motherboard and chipset. edit By the way, I have a low-end Chance-i card installed on my DVR, with Intel motherboard, and onboard graphics card, and it runs great. I installed my customers hi-end card on my DVR, and it wouldn't boot up. I also tied a hi-end GeoVison card and it didn't work because my system didn't meet the requirements.

    pelco spectra iii blowing fuses

Hello Horizon, thanks for the reply. I do not have any experience with soldering, probably just replace the board when i get the money. Do you think a dying power supply in the camera module, or a faulty 24v power adapter could have caused the voltage spike that fried the cap?

I have had the same problem. You can see the part of the PCB board that is fried in the center. What would cause that?
