  1. Hi, im a complete newbie so bear with me We've had a DVR that has 4 cameras connected to it for over a year, I've recently saw similar setups but with the inclusion of being able to view the camera on a laptop or smartphone. Ive also seen seen simple "IP Cams" that have straight forward setup but id rather have my existing DVR setup. I took a look behind my DVR and noticed a ethernet port and within the settings i saw "Network" settings, within those settings there were Network type, DNS and Port. Ive seen cheap ethernet cables that'll reach from my router to my DVR but thought i'd check to see if it was possible first. I cant see a make or model for the DVR cause it just says "4CH MPEG-4 DVR" on the front and the back says "4CH DVR/60-VD-B". heres a picture Is it possible?

Hi, how do I contact admin or a mod that can delete all my post/threads or possibly delete the whole account if it also deletes my threads? Reason for this is a long story that I'd rather not go into.

    Contacting Admin or Mod

Hi, how do I contact admin or a mod that can delete all my post/threads or possibly delete the whole account if it also deletes my threads? Reason for this is a long story that I'd rather not go into.
  4. Hi, my sister had CCTV installed with a avtech kpd- 675 zc DVR and just about got him to make them viewable on the eagle eyes app. She paid him upfront and he's been so slow and took a total of 6 weeks on/off to finally get everything done (big mistake using this guy). Anyway, this guy set up the internet viewing on his own laptop and had her reset the router to default so now he has the the passwords to everything...dvr, router login, and the password you put in the app. He said if you change the router password everything will stop working. He also wanted £20 a year to set up dydns because her ISP had a dynamic IP (talk talk) but she has since changed ISP to one that doesn't really change (virgin) but he says you still need it. I myself have a dvr setup using Virgin media without the need for dydns (4weeks ago he also said Virgin media doesn't need it and he has virgin it himself). We know how to change the router login password (virgin media superhub 2) but have no idea how to change the password you put in the app. He keeps saying he forgot to bring the disk because he always uses his own laptop, is there anything I can do? I know the password to the dvr and to view online but don't know how to change it because we're without the software.
  5. Done it! Thanks for the help guys
  6. Hi, he told her to reset the router login password as her custom one didn't work whilst he was setting up the remote viewing and said not to change it again because the remote viewing would stop working which I thought was a bit strange
  7. He has set it up with the new ISP
  8. I have told he to check the menus and she said there is a Admin password and a Operator password, if they're the ones needed would they both need changing or just the Admin?
  9. Hi, thanks for replying, we know nothing about CCTV set ups and how to do things other than the very basics things. We assumed the pc software would be needed to change passwords. She has a mouse connected to the dvr and it's connected to the tv already so she can see and go through the menus but just knowing what to do is the problem. What exactly needs to change on it to stop him controlling it from his end?

    DMZ

Hi, I set my DVR up (just about) to allow me to remotely view over the Internet around 2 years ago. I followed all the instructions but couldn't get it to work until I put the IP address of my DVR into DMZ settings in my router. Only until now I've read that DMZ can be unsecure if used and it could have access from somebody outside the network. Is it ok to leave on? Has anybody enabled this?

    DMZ

I had both DMZ and port forwarding enabled for 2 years and just yesterday I disabled DMZ (with fingers crossed hoping it'd still work) and to my luck it still does
  13. Hi, I have very little knowledge about this and only set my own up with the help of this forum. A friend has asked me to help them set up theirs for remote viewing to and they know even less than I do but I thought I'd look through my notes and see how it goes. As of now I do not know the make and model of the dvr, I also know my friends ISP changes their IP address regularly so dynamic dns has to be set up...that is the part I'm confused with because I didn't need to do this part with my set up. I thought of using the http://dyn.com/dns/ free trial just incase they pay for it and I can't set it up. At what part does dns need to be set up? Before I start anything else of after a certain point? Edit: it's an avtech kpd675zc
  14. Hi, I have a AVTECH AVC760 and I set it up 6 months ago to view remotely through the EagleEyes iPhone app. This setup has been working perfectly but today all I keep getting is "The IP address is not accessible", I also tried the Video Server E program on my laptop but it just says Login Procedure Failed. I not changed any settings or changed my DVR/router setup at all and I checked my external IP from whatsmyip.com and it shows the same address I use to connect remotely. I also logged into my router settings to check that the port forwarding was still enabled and it was. I did notice that in IP filtering the "attached devices" column showed all my devices connected but my DVR was not listed. When I go to "Local Network Search" using the EagleEyes app it does pick up my DVR but it just doesn't connect still. The app did get updated on Jan 2nd but I cant remember if I tried it out between then and now. Anybody know what could be wrong?
  15. I fixed the problem. I found out that the IP address on my DVR had been changed to my external IP address, at this point I had no idea how it happened as I only have access to the DVR, changing this back results in everything working. I installed the app on an iPad today and I noticed that if I hit "local network search" it changes the IP on the DVR, I changed it back and everything was fine again. This way used to work fine before, an app update probably done this. Thanks for the help.
  16. Hi, not posted for a while, love being able to use this setup thanks to the help in this thread I will be setting this all up again for somebody else who has the same DVR, router etc. I will be referring back to this thread when I set it up, is there anything else that I shouldn't be copying from my own setup? I'm aware the external IP will be different but what about all the DVR settings (as posted on page 2)?
  17. I did it!! I came across this thread and tried what the last post suggested viewtopic.php?f=3&t=29482 I had to go to DMZ host and add my local IP address. I can now access it from my iPhone using 3G using the EagleEyes app. Thanks you all those that helped me in this thread If my ISP changes my IP address on a regular basis do I just change the address that I use to log in remotely to the new IP address that they'll give me or would I need to change more things?
  18. I got somebody else to try but they got the same message after logging in The requested URL was not found on this server
  19. After changing the settings I disconnect from my home wifi and then tether a connection from my iPhone to laptop, could that still be a problem?
  20. I still get The requested URL was not found on this server Does the DVR need rebooting at all when changing network settings? Edit: Somebody mentioned on the VM forum that the DNS should be changed to 194.168.4.100 or 8.8.8.8 but I still get the same result.
  21. update... I changed the DVR to STATIC mode as instructed in the guide. This is what my router Port Forwarding page is like: http://i46.tinypic.com/2604z2t.png name: My DVR start port: 8080 end port: 8080 local ip address: 192.168.0.8 (my DVR ip) I opened up http://MYEXTERNALIP:8080 internet explorer and the DVR login page opened, I entered the default user/password but it then said "The requested URL was not found on this server " any ideas? Edit: I dont think ive done anything to DNS, does that need changing?
  22. Ok, so now the DVR looks like this: Network Type: DHCP DNS: 168.095.001.001 PORT:8080 IP: 192.168.000.008 GATEWAY: 192.168.000.001 NETMASK: 255.255.255.000 Under "wired devices" in my superhub the DVR's IP address is showing as 192.168.0.8
  23. I went to Menu> Advanced> Network> Network Type: DHCP DNS: 168.095.001.xxx PORT:0080 I then pressed enter on Network Type and got the following: IP: 192.168.000.xxx GATEWAY: 192.168.000.xxx NETMASK: 255.255.255.xxx I scrolled down to change some of these but im not sure on how to change them, the + & - does nothing. (I put x incase I shouldnt be posting this info )
  24. Ahhh I'm confused lol, I think I'll be able to do it though. Does this sort out server IP problem I posted earlier (the screenshot I posted)? I'm not sure
  25. I did a quick search and found "the Super Hub’s administration interface does not provide an option to change your DNS settings", can I still do this then? http://help.virginmedia.com/system/selfservice.controller?CONFIGURATION=1002&PARTITION_ID=1&TIMEZONE_OFFSET=&USERTYPE=1&VM_CUSTOMER_TYPE=Cable&CMD=VIEW_ARTICLE&ARTICLE_ID=345032
