Help NeeDed... CCTV wireless system up to 7 miles
CYANiDE replied to lovely23m's topic in System Design
This is something that will take time. 70 cameras on one radio will not happen. Where are you located? It may be worth it to have someone design and install this system for you. You will need line-of-sight for these radios, understand output power, etc. I can't see any image so I really can't help. Post a link and I can give you a rough design. -
McMaster-Carr will definitely have what you need but you will pay more for shipping than the screws. Amazon or eBay are your next bet but that quality will probably be sub-par.

Question? Upgrading Harbor freight Bunker Hill Security
CYANiDE replied to mrangel101's topic in System Design
Whatever is advertised by the camera you will probably get half that distance covered by IR. You could supplement with external IR illuminators but still the camera will be your weak point in picking up good video at that distance. I suspect the Harbor Freight system is not going to be good enough. -
Depends on your location. I use Grainger or McMaster-Carr here for any specific stuff I need. Most hardware stores carry the standard security torx head screws.

Best Camera System For $2500-$3000
CYANiDE replied to Elite Armory's topic in General Digital Discussion
Dahua or Hikvision would be your best bet. They sell "plug and play" solutions which should be within your budget. Where are you located? -
Like Dahua, Hikvision does call it a Tribrid. I didn't realize theirs could only connect to one IP camera. The cheaper Dahua Tribrids they recently released are limited to two. There's always the larger 1.5U and 2U Dahua Tribrids if you need more. The 4 channel has 1 port and the 8 channel has 2 if I am not mistaken.
-
Ubiquiti Nanostation M5 if you are a tech savvy individual. There is no customer support but there is a great knowledge base and a good forum. If you want support you can go with Engenius equipment for similar pricing.
-
Hikvision "Tri-brid" or whatever they are calling it these days. They come with one additional port for an IP cam (you will need to use an injector to power it though).
-
Drilling through rock isn't a big deal with the right equipment lol. Finally, someone with a realistic budget around here. If you decide to go with an IP system, I would go with either Hikvision or Dahua 8 channel NVR with built in PoE ports. These things are 95% plug and play. I am beginning to like Hikvision more and more simply because they are flooding the market with decently priced equipment and good tech support.

I've never used iVMS for a 4 camera install let alone 40. Some people do use it but for an environment where end users will be interacting with it, it isn't the most user friendly. I would recommend Exacq or Milestone. Also, don't forget you may need some powerful workstations for viewing and playback depending on how many they plan to pull up at once.
-
Do you have a security booth? Those high temps will wreak havoc on the hard drive. As far as wireless, I never recommend them but they do work for some customers. What is your budget? Are you able to run cabling to your desired camera locations? Who is doing the install?

CCTV Business: Marketing Ideas Discussion
CYANiDE replied to dave1983's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hi Eric, thanks for your response. I also plan on keeping my 9-5 job as an IT director until this business works well. I love IT, but I'm tired of sitting on a desk most of the day :/ I have gotten my state's low voltage license and I'm looking into CCTV certifications and attending trade shows, have you taken any certification exams yet? I did the NICET exams and have taken the alarm installation course for my state. Honestly, the NICET stuff is mostly outdated and most customers won't know the difference. Look into establishing relationships with smaller general contractors in your area. -
CCTV Business: Marketing Ideas Discussion
CYANiDE replied to dave1983's topic in General Digital Discussion
I also run my own business (not my primary source of income - I still have a "9-5"). I've found that the best marketing is word of mouth and actual footwork. I've gone into establishments in my area and just asked for a manager and asked them if they were interested in upgrading their systems. It helps that I'm in a very populated part of the country and there are tons of small businesses. I have been wanting to get into more commercial work and have been getting invitations to bid projects, however I simply can't bid them since I'm a one-man show. -
Purchased this for a customer but he didn't like the fisheye effect and ended up going with a Scallop Imaging camera. This camera has just been sitting on a shelf. It was never installed just opened for testing and demo purposes. This retails for about $670 everywhere, I'm asking $500 shipped with tracking and insurance. Let me know if you have any questions. HIKVISION offshore/onshore to USA and mounting hardware ?
CYANiDE replied to tolnep's topic in Security Cameras
You will need to purchase from an authorized distributor. The big names that distribute this stuff in the USA is ADI, Tri-Ed, etc. You will need to have a business to purchase from these places. The next step would just be a reseller or integrator that can acquire it from these distributors. -

How to mount a cctv camera in a home stairwell. (READ)
CYANiDE replied to chris63220's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Going to have to make a somewhat large hole for those pre-made cables. I personally hate them, but if you want to run it, that's your choice. Your hardest challenge is running the wiring for this. High up in the corner will prevent vandalism or theft, but I would definitely go away from the bullet cams for easy to reach locations. If it's high enough then you'll be okay. -
Your first few jobs you will probably come in way cheaper because you realize that you miss little things here and there. Fittings, extra pipe, extra labor, etc all add up. Make sure your quote includes hours for risk (troubleshooting, etc.)

BUMP. -
A digital camcorder that does HDMI out running to a PC is probably better suited for this than a security camera.
-
Good image of a moving car would require somewhat high FPS for recording. Don't forget about lighting conditions as well. How are you getting power to the camera?
