I would go with a local guy if you want Hikvision stuff. At least you'll get 3 year warranty and customer support with the cost difference. Samsung has some decent equipment but it looks like they are getting out of the CCTV game. You could always go with custom servers and run a VMS like Milestone, Genetec, etc, but they are very expensive compared to Hikvision stuff. You can also go with any other name brands, but generally the best bang for your buck will be Hikvision.

Only thoughts are to use quality cable and RJ-45 connectors. Everything else is pretty straight forward. For parking control, some cameras can integrate with POS systems and overlay the current transaction on the camera.

Save yourself some money. I would stay away from AvertX. I think you can save yourself money by going with a Hikvision setup. If you go with a US distributor you will be around the same price as the AvertX for much better equipment.

Terry, Depending on the size of the property and your required views, 12 cameras may not be enough. Again, if oyu only have two pumps and two aisles it may be sufficient. I would go with AliExpress and get 12 Hikvision cameras and NVR. Remember your cable runs will be limited by ethernet cable max length (~300ft).

Purchased property with CCTV system installed, how do I use?
CYANiDE replied to HDryder05's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Open the tan box and see if the cables are terminated. Tan box may be a DVR lock box or a camera power supply. -
looking for a residential CCTV system, please advice!!!
CYANiDE replied to RB7's topic in General Digital Discussion
1 - Recording on motion events is easy and every DVR does it. As far as sending an alarm to your phone, I'm not sure there is anything that does that. You can use a PC and software like BlueIris which can send you email alerts for motion events. 2 - I would not recommend WiFi unless you really cannot run cables to the cameras. 3 - Mains power is easy. Battery backup can be purchased (buy a UPS). 4 - Buy cameras with built-in IR LEDs. Bullet or eyeball type are typically better than dome cameras. 5 - Not sure what you mean here. You can configure most DVR alarms to your liking. 6 - Almost every DVR is capable. 7 - Buy a Dahua or Hikvision system. 8 - Again, almost every DVR is capable of this nowadays. Alarm on motion is doable from most DVRs but I would definitely not recommend that unless you want to be awaken by deer, cat, etc. -
Quick question regarding "High POE" for PTZ IP camera..
CYANiDE replied to FearThisInc's topic in Security Cameras
High PoE = PoE+ There are PoE+ capable switches that you can use and then you only have to run one cat6 cable. How far is the camera going to be from your power supply or switch? -
40-60 Camera System; Advice Needed on Camera and DVR
CYANiDE replied to lakesarecool's topic in System Design
Assuming they purchased the Hikvision cameras stated previously, I would go with a good VMS. I would say Blur Iris, but you would need a super computer to run 60 cameras on that software. Any half decent VMS will charge a license per camera, it's simply how they make back the money for their software. Personally, I would have gone with a US distributor for the cameras and paid the extra money, but it's your job not mine. -
recommendation for 8 channel dvr in $300-500 range
CYANiDE replied to mrstevie's topic in Digital Video Recorders
You are speaking about older models on an older firmware. Hikvision or Dahua has a ton of options in your price range. -
Need Multiple Smart TVs to view IP camera system network
CYANiDE replied to afhuss's topic in Computers/Networking
It will really depend on the TV. I'm not sure if camera viewing will work from a browser. Are these TVs going to be multi-purpose (not just for security cams)? -
Budget NVR for Home Consumers
CYANiDE replied to acuzon's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The problem with cheap-o NVR's is that they usually only support their branded cameras. So unless you are open to using a different manufacturer your options are going to be slim to none. -
Hikvision Commercial Spy Caught at Dahua HQ
CYANiDE replied to vmax's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Doesn't mention Hikvision directly and doesn't mention anything about HD-CVI. Where are you getting these assumptions? -
How long is the pre-made wire?
-
Picking cameras are the easy part. I would go with the 1.3MP Hikvision cameras as they perform better in low light than the 3MP ones. IF you are a fan of Dahua, I haven't played with their cameras enough to know which when is better in low light. As far as night clubs go, usually light is the biggest culprit. You need really good cameras with built in IR or cameras with IR cut filters and a standalone IR light (best option for clearer image with less of a hotspot). Also, if you have smoke machines etc, it will obviously render the IR light useless.

Looking For Hikvision NVR Recommendation
CYANiDE replied to dallasjava's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Depends on whether you care for a warranty or not. Aliexpress will be the cheapest place but only an authorized retailer will give you a warranty. Although some of the sites selling them that are "unauthorized" still honor some sort of warranty. -
Motion Sensors: More Reliable Than Home Depot's?
CYANiDE replied to PeteCress's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
What do you want the sensor to do? Trigger a light, trigger camera recording? -
Installed this weekend? Not sure what type of systems they sell over there but I would just go to a big box retailer and see whatever they have and make sure it has a good return policy. Go for an IP system (not the HD analog stuff - good but not "future proof" IMO).

need a little help with selecting a system for my house
CYANiDE replied to sbettencourt's topic in Security Cameras
Dome cameras are much more aesthetically pleasing to most. Generally the cons of a dome camera outdoors is night time IR LEDs reflecting off of the dome cover. 2.8mm is a pretty wide view, but like stated above it will really depend on your needs. As far as equipment, I would recommend Hikvision and Dahua. If you are going to do it yourself, you can pick up the kits from Costco but they are generally one type of lens for all the cameras included in the kit. -
Yes. They should have the at any electronics store (whatever your equivalent of Best Buy is). Also should be able to find it online at any computer site (tigerdirect or australian equivalent).
-
Buy a UPS. APC makes some of the best UPS equipment and I would recommend that brand. I wouldn't really recommend batteries if it's easy enough to use a UPS at the DVR/camera power supply location.

Elevator CCTV Installation Tips and Experiences
CYANiDE replied to crincones's topic in System Design
Wireless in elevators have been a nightmare. Attempted a wireless system for external scaffold elevator and had the same issues you said, video cut out, laggy, etc when the elevator was moving. Plain old camera running on the elevator cable is always the best solution if possible. If someone has done a wireless setup with radios (I used Fluidmesh) that have worked, let me know! -
Zmodo VMS Video Monitoring Client alternatives.

Blue Iris is a popular platform but processor intensive. Milestone is great but has limited features in their free version. -
Hikvision ds-2cd2032; help me with purchase and firmware
CYANiDE replied to darkknight's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You have a few options. The cheapest will obviously be AliExpress with Chinese firmware. Your second alternative is the other "unauthorized sellers." You can then go through a company who has access to a legitimate distributor that gets Hikvision. Any original Hikvision equipment will come with a warranty. I always tell my customers that you get what you pay for. I've also sent you a PM to see if maybe I can help you out. -
Pelco DVRs are expensive and lacking in features in my opinion. Like others have said, for such a large install, I would avoid an analog setup and just reduce the number of cameras. It is likely you may not even need 150 cameras. If you do insist on an analog setup, Dahua has some 32CH DVRs that I've used and they work.

I sent a PM ages ago but the mod that covers the dealer area seems to be MIA.
