Hello: I'm new and looking for information on HD SDI
CYANiDE replied to terence8888's topic in Introductions
HD-SDI is not terribly cheaper than an IP system. What is your budget? -
Design of System for Live Feed Only with PTZ
CYANiDE replied to claib's topic in General Digital Discussion
You will need some sort of VMS and a USB joystick. Check out BlueIris; it will take care of the 4 cams at once and the PTZ controlling. For cameras, I would do Dahua PTZ. Many options, just check out there site and compare their offerings. -
Big fat bundle of coax. 80 cams installed What next?
CYANiDE replied to lkyoldsun's topic in System Design
Is the coax siamese cable? It would have two wires (red/black) run along the main coax. Also, is the coax terminated with BNC connectors? For a couple months recording time, I would use two 32-channel and one 16-channel DVR with 8TB of storage each set to motion record. This is not the recommended way, but will probably be cheapest. -
Are you using this to light up an area that a camera will be recording as well? If yes, then I would recommend a flood light type of light, since it will evenly distribute it and the camera will pick up the picture better. If no camera, then the LED spotlight idea should work. Plenty of outdoor solutions on Amazon.

Security camera system recommendation for school outdoor
CYANiDE replied to starcraft04's topic in Security Cameras
Budget, budget, budget. I always ask this question because we can recommend $200 Dahua/Hikvision Cameras or $500 Sony/Bosch/Pelco. -
I've never used Y-cam but have used Axis and Mobotix and they are good quality cameras. Are you planning to just record to an SD card and not have an NVR? There are definitely options from Axis that can do on-camera motion detection and can email you.

I can guarantee that you will not be happy with these cameras after a few months probably even the first day. You really need to know what you are purchasing for the money. I would get a 4 channel Dahua DVR (~$140USD with a warranty) and 4 cameras with premade cables. You can definitely find some quality analog cameras for around ($60 a piece for outdoor or $45 for indoor). Feel free to PM me if you have questions. CYANIDI ......YOUR WRONG with your guarantee qvis sell dahua and have been one of there longest distributors. Sorry for the confusion. I was speaking in regards to the unit he linked in his original post, NOT the Qvis units.

Since this is for a business, I will always recommend IP cameras as long as their budget isn't extremely limited. You can get good IP PoE cameras for under $200 a piece and a DVR for under $300. For the longer runs, use an Ethernet extender. I would recommend a Hikvision NVR with Hikvision fixed domes with appropriate lens depending on the shot you need.

Extreme dust environment

I've had great success with the Bosch MIC-500. Plenty of accessories available for it. It is on the pricey side though. -
Haze, Condensation, or What?
CYANiDE replied to PeteCress's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Appears to be some sort of mist or condensation since it is so close to the water. -
Software demos without requiring installation
CYANiDE replied to phlight's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Why are you going with analog for and multiple location install? Genetec (expensive) has a great cloud based solution for this and it may fit under the $500 per location (if that means per camera location). If you mean an entire site, are you just going with multiple dvr cards at each location and then have those machines connected to the network? -
That is around $500 US. For that price and 5 cameras you are not going to be getting an IP based system. The cheapest DVR (Dahua) that I can get with 4 channel audio is ~$270 from an authorized distributor with warranty. That will not leave you with much room for cameras especially cameras with audio.

It really depends. I like the 360 degree cameras that offer the de-warped views built right into the unit. I only have experience with the Sentry 360 cameras and they work well and have good tech support. As far a distinct list, I really don't think there is one. If you only want to have 1 visible camera then a 360 degree is the way to go. If you can have extra cable runs and extra cameras in your ceiling, multiple cameras will be cheaper and provide much great coverage.

Everyone seems to leave out their budget. We can suggest so many different systems but it will largely depend on your budget. If your budget is $500 vs $2000 will make a big difference.

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SmartCam-1080p-Full-HD-Camera/dp/B00J38NVHE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1403701402&sr=8-1&keywords=ip+camera+samsung Under $200 and it is 1080p without any monthly fees. Can connect it via WiFi or directly using ethernet cable and has built in software for motion detection etc. It can even record onto an SD card so you don't have to have the PC on all the time. EDIT: Just saw you are looking for two cameras at under $200. You can settle for some cheaper Foscam that are in the $70-$80 range. Not sure of the motion detection capabilities though.

The biggest question will be what is your budget? What is the location of these cameras? If you really need to use the PC to record you can get a GeoVision card or if you have some sort of NAS you can use that. Still need an answer to the budget one to give you reasonable advice. I don't want any monthly fees and would like to keep cost at $200.00 or so. Will the computer be on 24/7? Is the camera going to be indoors or outdoors?

What is your budget? How much detail are you looking for at that distance? Do you need a PTZ with zoom?

First timer here! Question about car alarm
CYANiDE replied to friendfoe29's topic in General Digital Discussion
Python/Viper or any DEI alarm with the GSM add-on. Most of their alarms will notify you from far away (take their stated distances and reduce by a half). You can get a warning on your remote and a text on your phone if you have a smart phone. -
How to tell if a camera is suitable for outdoor use?
CYANiDE replied to saffy1981's topic in Security Cameras
Any stamps on it? Outdoor rated camera housings will be IP66. Does it look like there are rubber seals everywhere? -
I'm not an expert but I believe WD1 = 960H. The TVL count is for horizontal lines. I think you will notice a different if you go from 700 to 1000 TVL, but the question is how much sharper is it really? I would purchase one of each camera and compare side by side. If the cost is worth it for the small upgrade in quality then go for it.

What brand is the DVR? Some do not support external storage.
