    Sub $200 IP Camera

I still want to be able to use the IR though. I kind of just chalked it up to how it will be.
  2. More than likely is my office firewall blocking it. I ended up using BlueIris and it works fine to view. Not ideal, since the image directly on the Web Service 3.0 is much better.

I did and it has been running for a couple weeks. As far as I can tell, no you cannot turn off the glow of the IR LEDs. My one complaint is the IR Glare off of the hood I have it pointed down and out and between the 'halo' glare from the hood and the 'reflection' from my asphalt driveway the picture quality suffers.
  4. I notice I only get alerts that are actual alarm worthy 10% of the time. How do you guys weed through them? Only way I could think of was the FWD the alerts to another mailbox and check it periodically. That kind of defeats the purpose of an instantaneous alert.
  5. How about this idea: Picking up another arduino, a PIR motion sensor. Mount in a weather proof box. Mount on driveway. From there I should be able to have BlueIris trigger an alert from the arduino input, correct?
  6. Will analytics be able to help on a far away image? I really only want to track motion at the gate and no more. Anything above the gate line will catch passing traffic and people walking, which I don't care. In my yard I could care less, and it would get tripped by my dog/kid/wife coming and going.
  7. Picking up a Bosch at that price would be awesome, but unfortunately my camera does not have alarm inputs. Not running a true NVR either. Just my home file server.
  8. Anything cheaper for the home user?
  9. I will give that a shot. I have the PSS software that comes with the camera. It works on my work network. So confusing. Will try BlueIris.
  10. I can see the skyline vid, so RTMP isn't being blocked but RTSP is. Interesting. What is confusing is I can see the darn preview under the 'Set' tab. In fact I am looking at it now and it looks great. Edit: Ustream wont let you do IP Cameras anymore unless you buy the $599 version. So thats out. Qoqza is also paid.
  11. I was looking for the same thing you were and finally upped my range and got a Dahua. Just shy of $250 to my door.
  12. Yeah I have the ActiveX settings correct. I tested it on another external connection rather than my office, looks like it is being blocked. Does anyone know what the main/sub stream uses for port? Also, any tips on getting better night time performance? Looking at the video on the resellers site of the night view looks nothing like my camera.

Interesting stuff dmoore. Got the cam in. Unfortunately (And fortunately) I think I am going to run conduit and CAT5E out to the garage where the cam will be mounted. This means I wont be able to mount and use it for a couple weeks. Wife has projects she needs done first. About the connectivity. In the base of the mount is where the wires come out. It has a pigtail about 15" long and then splits for the barrel jack (power) and RJ-45 (network). See below for a pic. So out in the open it would be rather susceptible to the elements. In my case I have enough freedom I think I will recess a single gang box into my sofet and just place the cable connections in there. The one thing I didn't notice anywhere on the website, videos, etc is when the IR LEDs are activated, it has a red glow to them. So much for being stealth with the camera. Is this normal for IR LEDs?

I was almost dead set on the AirCam. I lurked on the forums for a couple weeks and it seemed rather green and I lost confidence. I ended up buying an Dahua . Once I get the camera I can get creative with making the connection weather tight.

So it has a non-removable cable that houses data and power then? How long is it?

Just ordered an Dahua IPC-HFW2100 . A bit over budget by ~$50 due to shipping, but it will work. Is there additional photos somewhere of the back of the camera? Is the RJ-45 and power port protected from the elements? Edit: So the forum changes [banned stores name] brand of cameras to Dahua automatically?

Glad I waited to see some more posts instead of getting the dome camera.

After looking some more, that might be just the ticket. It should be able to adjust enough. Also, does this include an IR lense? Any chance anyone has one used they want to sell?

I did not think a dome camera would work. The eve is slanted just slightly, so the image would be off.
