Please, advice about Dahua ip camera
redalert replied to gianni253's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I also own a Dahua NVR4208. From my understanding it will support many IP cameras not just Dahua brand. I'm using 5 3MP cameras from Hikvision (DS-2CD2732F-I) and have 0 compatibility issues. As long as the cameras are ONVIF you should be fine. The DS-2CD2732F-I's are pricey ($150ish) because they are Varifocal, I set it at 2.8mm anyway. if I were to do my system over again I'd go with DS-2CD2135F-IS its around $90 fixed lens. Good luck. -
Dahua NVR vs Hikvison NVR with Hikvision Cameras
redalert replied to Livermore-Dad's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I have 5 Hikvision 3MP cameras using a Dahua NVR and the one thing that irks me is if I set the image quality to optimal I get stuttering and the image on the monitor freezes after a bit. If I set it to medium then everything works fine. -
using 2 remote controls on 2 different displays on Dahua NVR
redalert posted a topic in Digital Video Recorders
I currently have a Dahua NVR4208-8P. What are my options to be able to use 2 remote controls in 2 separate room/monitors with the nvr being elsewhwere. Is it possible to purchase IR extenders of some sort? -
Recommend an NVR for 6 3mp cams
redalert replied to redalert's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Thanks for the input. I like the dedicated software route because the dahua and most nvrs don't allow having 3x3 split on the monitor. Another question is if I run outputs on 2 monitors will it be more cpu overhead? Thanks. -
Recommend an NVR for 6 3mp cams
redalert posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I currently have 5 3mp hikvision cams running from a Dahua NVR4208-8P but when I set the image quality to full there is stuttering on the screen and the output will actually freeze, setting the image quality to medium resolves the issue. I'm sure its due to the processor in the nvr and it's just too much to handle. Overall the nvr is pretty good except for that issue. Can you recommend a more robust NVR or would I be better running some type of server with a more robust processing speed? I was thinking a i3 lenovo server running win 7 or even server 2012. Also If I go this route is it better to get a dedicated graphics card or can I get by with integrated graphics. Thanks in advance. -
HikVision DS-2CD2032-I: Time Synch Location-Dependent?

I recently bought a Dahua nvr and 5 Ip cameras but not crazy about the nvr and was thinking of going the pc server route. I was thinking the AMD Athlon 5350 APU would do the trick at only 25watts draw. I need it to display 5 IP cameras at 3mp as well as write to the 2 drives. Would this do the trick or do I need more power?

You may not be crimping the ends correctly. Cat 5 is actually a thinner cable and from experience is a lot easier to attach the ends. Recently I installed 5 cameras with 4 cables using cat6 and 1 using cat 5. I have not noticed any difference in speed, image quality. Cat 6 is better for future proofing but right now cat 5 is just fine.

Hi guys, I have 4 IP cameras currently connected to a 4 port poe switch, which is connected to my router. My 8 port nvr sees the 4 cameras and runs fine, through the switch. I recently bought 1 more camera and wanted to hook it up to the nvr instead but I cannot get the nvr to recognize it. I thought it was a gateway issue so I connected 5th camera to the router itself and set the default gateway to the gateway of the switch, which of course is different than the default gateway to the router. Am I missing something? why can't I use both the switch and the nvr's poe ports?

Don't know about the virtual host thing but thanks for the youtube video. That's exactly what I needed. -
Can't connect camera to poe port on nvr. Help!
redalert replied to redalert's topic in Computers/Networking
How can I access the IP camera's internal settings through a browser now? The 4 cameras on the Poe switch have the same subnet as my router whereas the 1 camera connected to the nvr itself has a different subnet. -
Can't connect camera to poe port on nvr. Help!
redalert replied to redalert's topic in Computers/Networking
Thanks shockwave199. Setting auto dhcp worked after nvr restart though I don't like the fact that I have to change my ip range in router to access the camera from a browser. But at least its working now. -
Can't connect camera to poe port on nvr. Help!
redalert replied to redalert's topic in Computers/Networking
Thanks I'll try that. Another question, it might be possible that the nvr is hooked up to the switch, would that be a problem, Does the nvr and the switch have to be connected seperately to the router? -
I have a basic 8 channel Dahua DVR. I'm running 8 cameras via cat5. There is only one VGA output. Is it possible to split 4 channels to vga in order to view 4 channels on another display?

Is the mini female rca cable that's included with this camera for camera adjustment or does it serve some other purpose? In other words can I hook up a monitor to this and adjust the camera settings on the fly?

2 Monitors 1 DVR? Is it possible?
redalert replied to redalert's topic in General Digital Discussion
Yes but I was thinking 2 independent monitors from the same dvr able to record and display the channels associated with each monitor. -
Just got these baluns in today. FYI these will not fit into the housing of CNB DCM-24vf cameras.

Question for the pros about power splitter for vcm-24vf
redalert posted a topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi Everyone, Excuse the dumb questions but I am fairly new to CCTV installs. From what I've read on here the vcm-24vfs are good cameras. Soon I'm going to be installing a total of 6 vcm-24vf dome cameras. I was wondering if using a power splitter such as the one pictured will suffice or a power supply box is the way to go and why. Also if the octopus is ok does it matter if I use a 12 or 24 volt ac adapter? Thanks. -
Long-term outdoor usage of Cat5e without conduit

If I run Cat5e cables without conduit but protected under siding should I be concerned with long-term degradation and reliability? Would rg59 be the better option? -

Anybody know if I can fit these bigger baluns into the housing?

Question for the pros about power splitter for vcm-24vf
redalert replied to redalert's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Now in the documentation for the camera it states that if using 12V power, you should not use UTP. Is there any reason for this? I've already ordered a 12V ac adapter and was wondering. -

Like I said, it's going to go under vinyl siding so UV won't be an issue though I suppose moisture might. -
Question for the pros about power splitter for vcm-24vf

I agree. I think this fits the bill. I'll eat the extra couple of bucs since I won't have to splice. Just plug and play. -
