Should be automatic. I've set it up on 7 home and pro. I also want to be sure you have configured port forwarding correctly. You can get camera images over the LAN?
-
Do you have a dynamic IP? Also Google windows xp virtual machine. Download and install. It is an XP virtual machine that runs on 7. I often use it as a starting point when software don't work in 7. And you set port forwarding right?

These may help...its well covered on this forum http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=30355 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=27261 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=30813 -
What will be in your Field of View? An analog cam at that distance probably will not have a crisp picture unless you can spread the cams out

Dahua IPC-HDB3200CP-0360B tilt and pan fail
jakesoundels replied to gregcctv's topic in Security Cameras
No worries greg! I too knew very little about CCTV and if it weren't for this forum and, in particular, 3 former members I would not have learned so much! I took my knocks - often - like having to wait for a reply after a camera went down only to find out the cause was an improperly terminated wire - easy stuff and something I could have fixed quickly. Now I am confident to install residential and commercial systems - on the side - and I continue to ask questions. Welcome aboard and we'll be happy to help any way we can. -

I have a hybrid from 3xLogic and have no complaints. Currently have 10 analog cams and 3 MP hooked up. Great system! -
Need expert opinions on 4-camera design

I have motion lights installed slightly above and to the left of a CNB VBM 24VF dome. Initially there were some glare from the flood lights hitting the dome and creating a cloudy effect in the view. This was corrected by installing a plastic hood around the camera housing; this shadowed the glare and did not take away from the view. You might need a a small version of the hood for your bullets. Keep in mind I had to lower the flood light to 75Watts because faces were getting washed out. I also adjusted the contrast, for that camera - through the DVR to a lower rating after dark and reset brighter in the AM. BTW I always wanted to try KT&C bullets but they are in the $200 range. But if you youtube that name you will get an example. Look for footage from the Bahamas. A former member here has his own business down there and used the KT&Cs a lot Absolutely. This is the route I took and, like you, almost got one of those all in one units. Then I started reading here, plus other forums, and ended up with a basic economy Dahua and 4 CNBs. Love that Dahua - it is perfect for my needs. In fact the Bahama's connection used Dahuas for his bullet examples. Yep, I do it all the time with my Dahua! Remote config over the network is easy to use and easier (I think) than being at the DVR. Keep in mind I have DSL and only like 500 MB upload or something so if she has a faster speed all the better. -
I think, in this situation, some pictures of the camera and hook-ups may help. Any chance you can take some of the effected cameras and get back to us? What type of cameras and voltage do they require? What are you using for power to the cams?
-
Or install low watt motion lights - much better outcome than the IR.

Now you are getting into whether you live in the ghetto versus a typical residential area where the bad guys come around every now and then. I live in a drug zone - constant dealing in a parking lot near my home. I have turned a lot of footage over to the police; some have resulted in arrests. 7 FPS was plenty; in fact, the cops commented on the quality of the resolution (D1 with decent cameras) not the frame rate. In the end that's what it is all about on CCTV - believe me, the cops do not need much because 9 out of 10 times they know these idiots or know someone who knows them! Regarding viewing the cams remotely; you do not use remote desktop, you use the remote software for the DVR. In my case, for the Dahua its PSS. Sometimes I use the HDMI out on my laptop and hook up to the DVI in on the TV. Images are nice but, keep in mind, my cameras 9 (and DVR) are analog so the image will be limited to those D1 specs. Yes, the extra stream is a lower resolution and bit rate so that it can be seen via 3G. to me it is not worth it because it is too slow. So, whenever my phone is connected to a WIFI I check the home cameras and they come on really well with fluid motion (limited to the 7 FPS they are set at).

Hybrids can accept regular analog cams as well as ip/mp. Go to 3xlogic.com and look for steve bassett. he helped me out a lot -

If money is not the issue go for a hybrid dvr from 3xlogic. Good system. -
Darn still up there in price I like the idea that 2/8 channels support D1 that's a great option if you don't need all 8 cam's in D1! What resolution size is HD1? So your mobile device accesses the DVR thrugh it's wifi radio not cellular? In other words I need to be in range of my router for it to work? You still have to go throught the internet on your phone to access the dvr whether its through 3g or wifi . You might want to tell the app to use the dvr's extra stream, not main, for 3g.
-
Mobile viewing is through separate apps and are usuLly free. The images are viewble on the cell as long as your router is configured correctly -port forwarding and what not. If you have a dynamic ip address at home you will need to set up a free dynamic dns updater so your dvr will always be accessable over the internet. The hdd's on the dvrs record over from the beginning so no need to dump. Its just that you might want to have at least a week of footage in case something happens and your not able to playback for a few days because of vacation or whatever. I hear what your sayin about the 30 fps. I thought the same thing. My dvr allows the first channel to record at 30 which is the current setting. Only reason is I have a TB drive and the rest of the cams are recording motion only. I set the first cam to record 24/7 by choice. But, think about it, how many fps will you really need to catch tbe bad guy doing something bad? At work we have mp cams - they are set to 3fps and we just got an arrest based on playback of someone leaving a stolen car on our property. I think panasonic has an example of fps on their website. Just don't know it off hand but do a search here since this forum is how I found out about it.
-
D1 is resolution (720 x486). Yes the dvrs will record any combination of channels or all channels on a schedule, motion or full time. You only need to record at 7 fps (not 30) if that. I'm at 7 and it's all I need. Not making movies and takez up less hard drive space.

You don't need internet to view the cameras on your LAN. As long as you have a switch or any router with ports on the back you will be good. For example, we had a storm the other day and internet was down but power was on. I was still able to view the cams. My dvr is in the basement and I live 2 floors above that and get the cams over the lan via remote software. In fact the dahua remote software is acually better (playback) than the dvr itself. I did have to run cat5 from the basement but I did it on the outside of the house - gheto fab style! Terminating the cat5 is easy, watch a utube vid if needed. Worst case you can run premade cat 5 and use couplers if needed - just tape the jacks so they don't break during the run.
-
Careful! There is a good chance those DVRs will provide lousy playback images, especially footage that needs to be backed up and handed over to the police. Don't skimp on the DVR. I have a budget 4 channel Dahua DVR and it performs quite well for my needs. I paid around $230 (includes 500 GB HDD). Then, if you upgrade cameras down the line, you will still have a decent DVR.

We need a little more information. There are MP cameras out there that will dramatically improve that image but we're talkin $400 to $800 a cam. The 2MP Dahua dome cam is around $200 and has decent reviews. But you will need a NVR or hybrid for those cams. You might also want to be sure the camera (with the door in the background has WDR - Wide Dynamic Range to compensate for the strong daylight coming in. -
I have used CNB VCM 24VFs a lot but their veri-focal lens only goes to 12, I think. Might be best to mount them about a quarter of the way in from each corner so the FOV crisscross each other. For more detail your're probably going to need a box camera with a zoom lens on it.

Installation in new construction - what about inspections?
jakesoundels replied to taitrt's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I think it depends where you live. Our agency, In Pennsylvania, moved into a new building, we gutted it and rewired the whole joint. A city low voltage permit was obtained and we needed to hire a 3rd party inspector to look everything over. He primarily made sure all low volt wires were terminated into boxes and not laying on the ceiling tile. This was for commercial though so you might want to check your local city, county requiements. If the general contractor had to pull permits for his work you might want to see if low volt is needed - probably is since they are are a good source of revenue for municaplities The only problem with that is, at least in our city, the installer had to be "licensed" with the city to do the low volt install. Oh and if I had the opportunity to redo my home's camera wire I would go Cat 5 with baluns. In your case, with the open walls, run 2 Cat5 for each cam because you never know what you may need it for. Also comes in handy for IP down the road. For me, I never thought I would need MP cams at home. Well, we just installed them at work and now I'm coming around to wanting them for the house. Fortunately I used Cat5 for power so I'm good to go. -
There is no doubt a better DVR will improve the image. If you are on a budget you might want to check out Dahua DVRs. I use a basic 4 channel Dahua DVR and have no comlpaints. Check this out so you can find where to buy: I just wanted to give some insight in regards to purchasing from aliexpress.com. I bought 2 different dvrs from 2 different companies on there. The 1st seller, bought a 32 channel dahua (rebranded) and it came in 3 days from Shanghai. I purchased a smaller 16 channel from another seller (official dahua label on the machine) in the HK region and it took 2 weeks to get (they said it was in stock but I think they only order it when you place an order). It took 1 week to acquire the unit for me and another week to get it. If you have an option to pick shipping courier, go with either EMS, DHL or Fedex. I got the unit from shipping to me in 3 business days. The 1st machine works great, no issues with it and the company provides basic tech support but for the second place, they sent me a machine that is only PAL and won't work with the cameras here in the US. I'm currently trying to find a firmware update, either from Dahua themselves, the seller, or someone here in the forums. I just bought the machine 2 weeks ago and got it the other day. Just make sure the machine your buying, if from aliexpress.com works with NTSC or dual mode for video output. The VGA connection works fine but when you plug the cameras into the machine, it just has a garbled picture in black and white.
