  1. I found their user manual, can you try to click on the box next to 'Ch' to select all the files? (did i get the right product? lol) Edit: Ohh I just saw your reply, the speed is the issue...
  2. Hmm most DVR should be able to check more than 1 file to back up...like this: (i just clicked on the 'All' icon to check all the files) If you want to save time and money and just switch DVR, you can take out the hard drive and use it in this type of DVR which has this function. its just a very basic unit costing less than $150. It backs up as AVI file automatically if you use backup function via web. if that Swann DVR really don't have it, have you tried their CD software ?
  3. Sent you some info on purchasing options for more Dahua/Hikvision models. Some well known Dahua rebranders are FLIR security (formerly digimerge) (not all cameras are from Dahua, most are their own) QSEE (certain IP models) IC Realtime on amazon you can get the main stream stuff at a good price (like 1.3mp bullet) but if you want to go higher end like 5 mp or IP PTZ, getting it from a dealer will be cheapest and with good warranty.
  4. Hello, Unscrew the plastic base ring, screw in the camera through the metal ring, re-attach the base.
  5. Have you tried calling Lorex tech support? I called them before they seemed pretty helpeful and professional.
  6. That "NVMS7000" software that was just posted appears to be just skinned/rebadged Hikvision iVMS-4200 software. I guess iVMS-4200 does record the motion trigger channel (make sure it's set in camera) even on 24/7 recording. iVMS-4200 (server and 1 or more PC clients) iVMS-4200 PCNVR (one PC) Yea I just saw same stuff on ivms 4200, if you like a blue color you can use nvms7000 lol.
  7. One more picture of where the Motion Detection is located, on the left side.
  8. Ok Ok I see many people don't like my smart search idea at the machine itself. But I found the answer after playing around with the free software that comes with the machine some more, turns out that: -smart search can be done via software -there is built-in motion detection search, even on a 24/7 schedule Here is what it looks like on a 24/7 schedule: 1 solid timeline Here is what it looks like through motion detection search using same camera and the same day. You can see it on the left the time the motion started (its alot because it is a busy office) If you want to go a step further, THEN you can right click on the playback, use dynamic analysis, select an area, and it will do a pixel search for that certain area where motion happened and shows the results on the timeline as a red bar. Sorry if this still doesn't fit your needs, I think it addressed your main concerns: -Free -Done on PC -motion search on a 24/7 schedule (shows as a LIST instead of flags on timeline though)
  9. I seen this happen before but with my computer. Perhaps the fan has failed inside the DVR and it is overheating (if its in a closet or small space). Also Hard drive can be bad. Could you unplug the hard drive and turn on the machine and see if same error comes up? a good way to fix is to default the settings to reset it. but before you default it, export OR take a photo of the network setting/DDNS so that you can input it again after you reset.
  10. I also found something else under my phone, it says Background usage was 316 mb . I am recording on main stream, but honestly I don't do remote playback much unless I'm on wifi. and i only have 1 camera. Hmm i do use it to do tech support for my part time though...but still I use wifi for testing customer's sites. for now I force stopped the app and I will monitor it and see how it goes.
  11. Edit: Sorry for misleading, I found out all the data usage was on March 6th when I used my data to try out some remote playback, on the other days they were ok, was clear once I saw the data usage of each single day instead of a range. Not sure if its me or what, I do have the live preview set to 'Extra' and Playback set to 'extra' and don't even use it that much...and i only have 1 x 1.3 megapixel camera! I think even when you exit out of the app, it is still using data... If there are others out there why their data is being used up so quickly, this might be it.
  12. Wow this situation is exactly what our NVR is designed to solve... our NVR with Smart Search. Here is how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0Zgq73LEiE&list=PLavMykS0nm2_sb61rLnO4Hk-M4kHwnvVM The smart search results is like the flags you are talking about. too bad its only at the machine side that this can be done :/
  13. Sounds like some sort of alarm setting, do you have the exact model ? you can usually find it under the DVR or behind the DVR. Has it always done this? or just recently? Does the beeping come from the DVR machine or from the monitor it is connected to?
  14. I wish Smart search was on the web interface too (which 90% of people uses), I'll let you know if they ever update the firmware to have that function online. For now a reliable motion detection camera is the way to go...or set the pre-record and post-record time to be a little bit longer so you make sure you don't miss short events.
  15. Hi cable connection, You can get 8 ch system for under 2.5k if you get fixed lens cameras. With some timely sales, you can save even more.

    dvr Dead help

hmm I would either RMA the machine or get the proper regional flash files from your vendor (the company i linked you is in the US) then try again with PAL flash files (But not sure if there is a big difference) .

Is there a harddrive inside? I would disconnect it first and see if its the Hard drive causing the problem. If you remove the covering, you will see a sticker with the exact model number on the motherboard, the firmware I linked you might just be a similar machine but not the same. If you can take a picture of the motherboard maybe we can find a correct one for you.

Hi Eli, Did you read the instructions on how to do the flash? 1. download the file 2. extract the files 3. you'll see a 'flash' folder, the flash files are in there. 4. go into the folder and copy the 3 individual files 5. paste it into a EMPTY USB (with no files other than the flash files) flash drive that is around 8-16 gb. 6. turn off your DVR, plug USB drive in 7. turn the machine back on, and if it works, you should see a black screen for about 10 mins, then the machine will restart and you should be ok. from experience even if you got the wrong files it doesn't hurt the machine (for these models) you'll just see the H.264 screen if it doesn't work. you'll know its working if you see the flash drive blinking like crazy and black screen when you start up. IF you see h.264 screen but USB drive blinks, give it like 15 mins maybe its working.
  19. This is a problem that I think Smart Search will solve quite nicely, i haven't seen this function from other vendors. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0Zgq73LEiE&list=PLavMykS0nm2_sb61rLnO4Hk-M4kHwnvVM Basically it is like motion detection search WITHIN motion detection search or even better, through 24/7 recordings. You just highlight the area where the event happened (like the front door opening), and the NVR shows you the time line of events where only motion happened at the area.

That's a 2316ss-c (16 for 16 channels) http://www.ltsecurityinc.com/en_us/product/1097.html you'll see the kernel and firmware under downloads. look under machine for exact model number and find it at LTS 's website.
  21. Hi Pd_ Are they RG59 coax cable? If megapixel image is all he wants, consider a HD-SDI system which uses coax cables. If the cables are under 300 ft, you can just replace hardware and bring HD image to your friend and use the same cables. If its over 300 ft, they have HD-SDI extenders but i think they require power. There are some disadvantage to IP though but not that much -2.1 mp is the current limit -requires expensive HD-SDI DVR to record the image, but cameras are generally cheaper than IP -no duplex communications with camera (camera does not have web server like IP camera does, and any camera setting has to be changed through the OSD button on the camera) -HD SDI PTZ requires separate RS 485 cable -cameras cannot be paired with radios for wireless transmission but for your application, the advantage should outweigh the disadvantage -use existing coaxial cables (probably main advantage) -plug and play, no IP address to mess around except for DVR, great for CCTV starters -Live view is amazing, as the images are uncompressed when they are sent from the camera to DVR and to your HDTV (good if your buddy likes to look at the live image at his office) you will always view it at the machine at 30 FPS, even if you just record at 10 FPS, and nearly zero lag fluid motion. But if you are an installer and needs to make money by running new cables, go with the setup you have, most IP camera are POE capable. I wouldn't get that model, get the one with EX-IR for better night image. For remote viewing, it will be dependent on his upload speed, 6Mbps should be ok if he doesn't remotely view all the cameras at once on Main Stream. If your friend is not tech savy, consider getting a standalone NVR that can do 16 ch IP.
  22. Hi Steuk, -First I would try it just with IP address instead of the domain. -You need to open Sdk port 8000 and RTSP port 554 (change to 8554 as 554 is blocked or used by other programs) those must have. The http port is not needed for app. I tried Hikvision's ddns before but just seems harder than many of the free DDNS elsewhere. I would use register mode IP/domain.
  23. Method still working as of today, just tried on a small tower case NVR, saved my life haha.
  24. Indeed you're right I probably shouldn't have weighed in with what amounts to little more than band-aid solution instead of a thorough solution, but the scary thing is this kind of solution is exactly what Samsung's CCTV tech support told me back when I first got a unit and called them trying to get my cameras to work. Tech support probably told you that because helping customers set up ddns would take another 15-30 mins haha.
  25. By lead kit I believe he means the BNC cable are pre-made cables and the connectors are already on. These kinds of cables are thinner and weaker and have less shielding inside than a box of Siamese cables (which requires the installer to put on their own connectors, usually compression BNC). But using pre-made cable means you will have to drill a larger hole to fit the BNC head through, while using an unfinished cable you can drill a smaller hole to run the cable through. Generally the box of cables are of higher quality and have different grades.
