  1. If you have Windows 7, turn your UAC setting to Never, then restart your computer and it should work. I think its a common problem with Windows instead of Hikvision...i had the same issue with multiple brands of systems. Control panel->User Account->change user account control setting->set to Never notify. Good luck!

    Hikviision Tower NVR

PM'ed you some info about them. They are Hikvision's NVR, been available since mid-2013 I believe.
  3. are your cables farther than 300 Ft? Are your cameras set to too high of a bandwidth usage/framerate for the machine? Is DHCP on for each camera or does each have an static IP address? I would set a video loss alarm for all the cameras then let the NVR send email alerts to you when it experience video loss...that way you can pinpoint specifically which camera and at what time it goes out of service.

    Remote viewing Qsee QT software

For Q-See, depends on which models you have. Their original series were from TVT, which uses Super Live Pro app, this one you DO have to put the http port at the end. Their IP series are Dahua, which uses gdmss or idmss, this one you DON'T have to put the http port at the end, just the server port at the port field. Your router might not support using DDNS while internal, try to use your local address if you are using internal wifi. For your port forwarding, your address should be this: 192.168.2.4 and not 192.168.002.004

    New CCTV System

Could be manufacturer defect where the foam ring around the camera is not fitting correctly or flush against the dome, see if they have replacement rings from manufacturer or when they installed it, they didn't throw it away right? It really sound like symptom of IR reflection or bleeding .

    Getting professional products

I think End user usually go the Costco/Lorex/Swann/Qsee/amazon/alieeexpress/ebay route. Installers can use local distributors like Eastern/Unix/LTS/Skysonic/ADI/Tri-Ed/Winic (on east coast) and use UPS...i think the installer buys local if they need technical support/personal touch. Prices seem lowest on alieexpress.

    New CCTV System

Try to take off the dome then take a photo, if the camera without the dome is clear, then the issue is the dome (IR reflection/foam ring not flush/etc). Try another style of camera such as Turret (eyeball) or Bullet.

can not get into th eSetup wizard

Sounds like either: 1. your dwell option is on, so that it is switching every 10 seconds. 2. you are seeing the video through the spot out port. There is usually a setting to turn on and off the start up wizard under General Settings or Basic Settings. Can you try to default your DVR? Or just manually set up the machine without the wizard?

    Help with Lorex system please!!!!

Sounds like your VGA monitor might be on the Aux output instead of the main menu output. Can you default the machine through the web interface? According to their user manual, try to press and hold down the stop button for 15 seconds and it will return the DVR to its default resolution.
  10. I posted some photos of the wires before at this post, maybe they will give you an idea of what to expect: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=37506
  11. The only hikvision camera I have seen with a 3.5mm mic in/line in jack was the box camera. (also one of the few with BNC out). That model also doesn't include any RCA/3.5mm jack with leads in the camera, and doesn't mention anything in the manual on how to connect a mic either, but you just have to cut the audio cable from the group of cables (bundled together with alarm inputs) and splice with a mic or your own RCA jack with leads. I would just get a camera with a built-in mic or at least one with a RCA jack/3.5mm already available.
  12. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this situation...if anyone know does the nvr5216-p can have individual output per video output? (cam 1-5 on HDMI, can 6-11 on VGA, cam 12-16 on BNC?) I see on PSS there's a 'device output config' where I can set individual output for spot, but it was only on the DVR. (Haven't try with a nvr5216-p yet) also a setting called 'ext screen management' which didn't seem to do anything. Trying to get something like ch 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16, each on its own screen...might try 2x nvr5208-p if the video out can be customized. Thank you for any input.

    iVMS-4200

Did ivms4200 for mac come with ivms 4200 storage server? You can use that to record to the HD on your mac...but its complicated and i only did it for windows once until i switched over to ivms 4200 PCNVR cause it was so much easier to setup.
  14. They should find real jobs to support their habit like the rest of us !
  15. So glad to see them in action! great pictures.
  16. We have the OEM version (no logos), not the Chinese version as in wrightwood, so its a bit more expensive but does come with 3 year warranty instead of 90 days. Well worth it I think . Most clients buy it for the 3-axis/easy install instead of the ex-IR though I think.

    help a fella out please

its possible you have to press the a certain shortcut on the DVR to switch the video output, for example, the DVR i work with if we can see the logo bootup but then no video, it means the video is outputting through another output. then just press and hold down the 'STOP' or "esc ' or 'exit' button for about 10 seconds then it will beep, and rotate to the next video output. see if your machine has any warning/stickers on the top of the machine that tells you what to do when there's a blank screen, on my machines it does but no one ever reads it.

    Ideas for salt air protections

Thanks Toss, I tested a camera and it fits into the housing after I removed the sunshield and junction boxes that came with the camera. its a hikvision bullet camera with a single Ex-IR. Hopefully it'll last against the air.
  19. I'm looking to provide some protection for a camera installation job done near the coast, the cameras are rated IP 66 and made of Aluminium. Has anyone have experience with such a requirement? I would put them in a housing if that model of camera has one that fits...perhaps I can protect the outside with some WD-40? I do plan to go back every so often to maintain them. Thank you for any ideas.

    Sunell ?

I like the sunell range of cameras, most models has an easy to use RCA plug for audio, something that's hard to find for Hikvision or Dahua. And ONVIF works ok...
  21. ah I see, thanks for the insight. I just wish hikvision gave it an RCA or 3.5 mm plug (like for their box camera) instead of having to splice the connection.
  22. I would go HDSDI if you have someone watching the screen all the time and live view is important, no lag and the color looks better on HDSDI to me. Is your 5k including labor or just equipment? You can get a 16 ch system for less than 5k if its just equipment, let me know I'll recommend you some stuff from my supplier.
  23. Hi Buellwinkle, what do you think of using a PoE splitter at the camera side then you can have a DC power for the Mic too? Most CCTV mics have a DC pass through then you can power up the camera too through DC 12 V from the Mic.

    Audio camera problems

Thanks shockwave for your help! I'll try both method and see which works best.
  25. Does your DVR have a CVBS (also known as bnc out) output? Sometimes the machine can be set to output the menu to a specific monitor (CVBS, HDMI, or VGA) so that you have a main monitor with menu access at the office and a secondary monitor with no menus showing at a public location. Last test is to plug in a vga monitor, hdmi tv, and camera tester (to the bnc output/cvbs output) at the same time, the menu is bound to show up on one of those outputs.
