Problem with recent Q-See purchase
milkisbad replied to 300winmag's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
as someone being from the supplier side, they probably won't call you unless you call them for tech support If its a day or two since you called, they probably forgot about you.... Sorry couldn't help more, if its the machine itself then last resort is usually firmware upgrade,. -

I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing this issue. i'll try firmware and defaults (which seems to fix most things) -
Sorry if this is newb question, why use AC 24 V when its available? I know AC is suppose to be more efficient over distance and experience less voltage drops, is that the only reason?
-
If you keep the wiring then that means you have to use HD SDI (which can reuse your cables) unless you use Ethernet over coax adapters for the IP. So your only choice is the first one lol, which is not bad....the technology is great, but qsee HD SDI is not that good in quality, lots of noise at night.
-
Depends on what kind of cables you have already. If you have cat5 with baluns, go IP If you have Coaxial, go with HD SDI unless you are going to redo the wiring...

Hello: I'm new and looking for information on HD SDI
milkisbad replied to terence8888's topic in Introductions
HD SDI is on its way out already, they will release HD TVI soon. For upgrading your options are: HD CVI = cheapest and not bad, made by Dahua HD SDI = not cheap, but very good quality, almost like watching a blu-ray movie. HD TVI = not tested yet lol but suppose to be as good as SDI but can run longer cables and also less expensive. You should do it yourself, unless you are not confident about the labor. -
Problem with recent Q-See purchase
milkisbad replied to 300winmag's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Sorry to hear you are taking it down, Are you trying to change the resolution on the machine or through the web? If its through the web, did your user interface look like this? This is the incorrect GUI Or this? This is the correct GUI. The incorrect gui might not let you change some settings. To get it to the correct GUI, change your User account control setting to never, then reboot your PC and should be fine. You can find it under Control Panel or just type UAC under the search bar in start menu. But if you are getting the error on the NVR machine itself then hmm don't have an answer for that yet. -
Hikvision DS-7108N vs. Dahua NVR4208
milkisbad replied to trinigerman's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Just want to let you know Geovision cameras with Hik or Dahua might not support motion detection recording. and since its only 1 SATA interface, your max storage is 4 TB. (1 x 4 TB hard drive) and might not get you more than a week or two. secondly, hik's nvr doesn't seem to support 5mp recording, only 1080p at the most. 3rd for the HIkvision, its only 25 Mbps for recording bandwidth, so for your needs should be enough but not really enough for 8 ch unless you go with all 1.3mp cameras. for the dahua seems to be a better buy because of 2 Sata. -
Don't think you can turn an HD SDI camera into an IP camera...yet if your HD SDI camera has a analog port or analog cable running out of it, try to connect that to your encoder, if it works, then you know the encoder doesn't support HD SDI Most HD SDI has a analog cable for connecting to test monitors or to connect to a TV as a spot monitor.

milkisbad replied to 300winmag's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Well I do Dahua NVR tech support on the side, want to do a teamviewer or join.me session and see if I can fix it for you? Probably just some settings issue they aren't looking at. Or take some screenshots of your errors and post it here -
IC realtime: do you think they are high-end?
milkisbad replied to milkisbad's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I'm with an OEM too but our reputation isn't anywhere near theirs lol I was just surprised one of our clients think IC Realtime was high end. In addition he has never heard of Dahua.... -
IC realtime: do you think they are high-end?
milkisbad posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I got an installer who told me he uses mostly IC realtime and he said they are high end....but they are just Dahua rebrands, what makes them extra special, especially vs some brands like QSee, which is also dahua stuff? Is it because they charge more for the same equipment which creates the perception that they are better? Or just marketing at its finest? -
Can you post a picture of the menu or user interface? that might give us an idea of who makes the machine.

milkisbad replied to iantech's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Lorex one is the same except it comes with 1 TB instead of 2 TB, but that's only worth like $20-30. They should be the same stuff because HD analog (HD CVI) is made by a company called Dahua, which is sold under other brands like Qsee, Lorex, GSS cctv, Gen IV, IC Realtime and low end Flir DVR. So if you have membership try out the lorex one. -

http://www.costco.com/Q-See-8-Channel-720p-HD-Security-System-with-2TB-HDD-and-8-720p-Cameras.product.100123084.html I think that's your best bet for price/quality/and service (tech support service probably not that good, but this thing isn't too hard to figure out) I don't know how costco does it, but their markup is very low, truly at wholesaler level. But they make money from membership fee instead. This is HD analog (or aka HD CVI) and the makers behind it is a company called Dahua, which is not bad. -

Zmodo is like a Honda Civic with no air conditioning, no power windows, nothing extra. Swann is like a Honda Accord with modern comforts In other words, you can't use the pricing for zmodo to judge all other cctv, they are at the bottom of the heap, below them you'll get into no-brand cameras/dvrs from who knows where.. -

"That's why I like the sd59212s or sd59230s because they are the only ones on the market that I found that can tilt up 15 degrees." Don't know if the specs is a typo, but this one is also -15 ~ 90 for tilt according to the datasheet http://www.hikvision.com/en/us/Products_show.asp?id=9188 This is not the one we have on demo though. Edit: just confirmed with my customer, he said he does tilt up around ~15 degrees for the model listed. -

You can use iVMS-4500 you have to port forward your camera first for remote access though -
Why is the dahua 4280 so cheap?
milkisbad replied to shockwave199's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
As a supplier, Profit margin on these equipment (which is already pretty thin) compared to 3 years ago has dropped alot...maybe by 30%, and that's if nothing happens and they don't need to use their warranty. After RMA/credit card fees they can only stay in business by cutting services/salary for us. -
Looks like you are missing an 8 port + 1 uplink POE switch.

milkisbad replied to Totalsecureguam's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
All I can say is pick a good supplier and test stuff out before you go install stuff, your reputation will get damaged if you go to job site THEN find out the cameras bad. Yes it takes more time, but don't rely on the vendor to do any quality assurance. -
Security Camera for viewing lake from Lakehouse
milkisbad replied to JJB's topic in Security Cameras
Don't think you'll see much at night, I believe water doesn't reflect IR, unless people riding in boats at night or you see the ice at night. You will get good night pictures from the trees and land. Day time will look nice too. be careful how much extra they charge you, and PTZ camera are more prone to failure than others because of movement, so you should have a good warranty on it. And in your environment the camera might freeze due to cold and lake moisture. The one from wrightwood is reasonably priced for a US seller, probably one of the cheapest out there. Looks like neither listing includes any wall mount brackets, it might be another $50-60 extra. Mind if I ask what does your dad do for a living? I would like to retire in a lake house as well lol You need internet to control the camera outside of the network, also port forwarding to your camera, if you need recording, put an SD card inside the camera or use a software to record to a PC (or use standalone NVR (network video recorder)) If running cables is an issue, look into a PTZ that can support POE+, so you only have to run a Cat5e to it and it'll do power/control/video in one cable. If your budget is around $500, you can get a 1.3 MP with x 20 optical zoom and no IR IP PTZ camera. But IR models are more expensive. For specs similar to the one you showed, its at least $800 and up to $1800 from US sellers. -
I actually like Config tool, don't have to install anything like Hikvision's SADP. Just extract to a folder and click the exe and it works. A tip is right click on your device and do 'open device web' and will automatically try to open the NVR with the :http port already filled in, great for when you forget what you changed the http port to. if you have a hard time finding where to download, should be in your CD or the website of the store where you got the camera from.
