move Swann IP cams from NVR to Mac?
milkisbad replied to psyentific's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Here's the web plugin if you ever need to see them on Safari (but not sure if you still need them if you have the latest firmware cameras): https://www.dropbox.com/s/9ga3rgdcasxke2l/WebComponents.pkg I know SADP for windows depends on a installation of winpcap from winpcap.org, which is a windows only thing? It will be nice if they make a SADP for Mac . Glad to hear you got it to work though. -
I want to recommend you a Hikvision Hybrid DVR but if its for your parents, I feel there might be a steep learning curve ( but not impossible to learn though). But it does have most of the features you want. How about I send a demo link to you and you can let your parents try it out and see if they like the web and phone interfaces?

Well that's the rumor from the inner circles...has anyone else heard differently or able to buy a working version either 3mp or 6mp? -
I think i bricked my DVR Please help me
milkisbad replied to ye11ow's topic in General Digital Discussion
sorry it didn't work. and don't feel bad about it, its not your fault for bricking it. it happens VERYYYY OFTEN to this vendor's machines, you are not the first and won't be the last. -

Then its 95% dead (unless you have wrong flash files), apply for replacement/repair, they will have to change motherboard for you most likely and keep the same case. -

Well if you got it from direct from China I'm not sure if my instructions would help...assuming you already know which are the flash files and have the correct version, try this: 1. Empty and format your USB key 2. put the flash files into the USB without any folders 3. turn off machine 4. plug USB in (try the front and the back, sometimes USB port might be bad) 5. turn on the machine 6. if you get a black screen and if the USB drive is flashing like crazy, it means the firmware is working. 7. wait 15 mins, the machine should reboot and you can login like normal if it worked. I'll PM you with a download link to get the flash files/firmware -

it could be hard drive issue too, turn off DVR, then open the case then unplug the hard drive then try to turn it on. That thing should still be under warranty, that model hasn't been out that long yet, when and where did you buy it? Do you know how to flash that DVR? if disconnecting the HD doesn't work i'll give you further instructions. -
move Swann IP cams from NVR to Mac?
milkisbad replied to psyentific's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi, you need a program called ivms4200 for Mac. http://www.hikvision.com/en/us/download.asp It should detect the cameras automatically if you go to 'Device Management' and also allow you to change the IP/network settings. -
Need a residential front door camera
milkisbad replied to winterminute's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I believe Hikvision won't support to end users/installers that didn't buy directly from them, even if its English versions...especially to End Users. If you needed support you would go to your seller, i.e. the N word or costco or wrightwood or amazon seller. Also look at warranty, the higher price one probably has a 3 year warranty and the lower price one most likely a few months to a year. Costco's $250 version is cheaper because its the one without audio/alarm inputs and outputs, the $300 version should be the one with audio/alarm. -
Who Sells Hikvision OEM?
milkisbad replied to L4HikOEM's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If anyone want to see a live demo of a Hikvision PTZ feel free to PM me, i'll send you the link. Model is similar to this one but 20 X optical zoom. http://www.hikvision.com/en/us/Products_show.asp?id=9174 really laggy though... -
Who Sells Hikvision OEM?
milkisbad replied to L4HikOEM's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Well there's no benefit to them saying 'yes it will work with Hikvision firmware.' If it works, you might buy directly from Hikvision. If it doesn't work and you brick it, then they have to give you a replacement. Do they have custom firmware with almost up to date firmware versions? -
Those $37 wifi IP ptz cameras look like Foscam .. If you have to keep it at that low price you might have to go analog cameras + DVR instead.

Beware of CCTV CAMERA CHINA Aliexpress seller
milkisbad replied to empedokles's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I think going through your credit card company is the only way to deal with Aliexpress issues. From what i'm aware Aliexpress policy is the buyer pays the return shipping even on DOA. Can anyone recommend a good Ali express seller?. I need a DS-2CD2532-IS. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Original-English-version-Hikvision-3MP-IP-Dome-Camera-Waterproof-DS-2CD2532F-IS-Support-Audio-Alarm-SD/1670823586.html FYI,i purchased six Hikvision domes and one Hikvision NVR (7608 NI/SE-P) through this Aliexpress seller, all is ok. That price for that camera is not that good though...its only around $10-15 less than what people sell them for in the US, which defeats the whole purpose of alieexpress. If it was like $110 when other sells them for $199 then its worth it. But that camera is still pretty new maybe it will go down in price. -

milkisbad replied to empedokles's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The return shipping should depend on whose fault it is: Seller's fault such as wrong item, DOA item, missing items, seller should pay return shipping. Buyer's fault for ordering the wrong item, expecting too much out of a camera, ordering camera that isn't compatible with their NVR. Buyer should pay return shipping. Amazon follows these rules too..i had to pay shipping to return when i didn't need the item anymore cause it was my fault. but when the item was defective they pay for return shipping. but in your case the seller SHOULD pay return shipping but they would lose so much money just to shipping, so they are choosing to ignore you. What would I do? I would only buy from Amazon or ebay US sellers if i'm an end user and can't open a dealer account with a distributor. -
I think you can find better NVR prices...64 ch NVR with RAID is only about 2k ...cheapest 16 ch DVR is 200. For this new job I hope you will go with IP and run Cat6. There's 32 ch DVR with 30 FPS/ch and WD1/ch, but I don't think its worth it. 32 ch NVR with 30 FPS/ch and 1.3mp/ch is cheaper than a 32 ch DVR for some reason (economy of scale?) For your switches you should use gigabit POE switches.

Hikvision Fisheye camera: Postponed until further notice
milkisbad replied to milkisbad's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The model I saw can do the same stuff as the Geovision (360 mode/Front+back mode/ Quad) but its just the way its recording and displaying on the NVR seems to have problems. Direct access through web browser didn't seem so bad. -
Who Sells Hikvision OEM?
milkisbad replied to L4HikOEM's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hmm...does your current vendor take off all the labeling for you? What happens when an RMA is needed and there's no model number and serial number stickers? I think your end user can also google the OEM's model number and find it on ebay and amazon, probably not as easy as with HIkvision but not impossible. Its quite a bit more labor I'm not sure if any OEM would do it for you without extra cost. -
Hi Brady, I would try to add the camera manually even if SADP doesn't work. as long as the Ip works and the server port works and the username/password is working. To add it manually or automatically: You can pick either option, the top 'add' option is manually put in the ip/port. the bottom 'add' option will put in the info for you already, and only works if your device shows up automatically (the thing down there is like a built-in SADP and you can do modify network if its in a different subnet.)

Hi Brady, sent you the download link for the software i'm using NVMS7000, basically a re-skinned ivms4200.

Lorex LNR280 frustrations! Anyone get audio to work on it?
milkisbad replied to Alan2000's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Try these other apps. iVMS 4500 for iphone iVMS 4500 HD for iPad They are the original Hikvision apps and are the most updated ones, maybe they worked out the audio function on them. -
Are these hikvision ip cameras good?
milkisbad replied to JoshCCTV's topic in General Digital Discussion
If you get the 4mm lens one 50 FT in the day time is a stretch for facial. Night time even if you have good lighting or an IR illuminator...50 Ft is too far for face. -
Hi Brady, I actually done it a few times too (changed http port and can't find it again) what you need to do is add the camera to your ivms4200 software (you only need server port and local IP address, which you can find from SADP) then change the http port if you go to Device management-->remote configuration-->Network See the picture for what I mean~ (sorry i'm using another software but its like the same) Hope it helps, PM me if you need to teamviewer or something and I'll walk you through it. As long as your SADP works it should be ok.

Which 16 Channel NVR and Cameras?
milkisbad replied to dkearney's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Depends on your needs: Do you need built-in POE or external POE? How many Hard Drive do you need? Do you need 3 year warranty? (warranty varies greatly through vendors even for the same product) [Mod: Edited]
