Hikvision Fisheye camera: Postponed until further notice
milkisbad replied to milkisbad's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If the fisheye camera actually works as well as the theory (one camera watches entire room), then there are big demands for it (less cameras to buy, less labor, onto the next job). Geovision has been pretty successful with their fisheye camera. -
Poor Imag Quality 960H Cameras
milkisbad replied to zgebis's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
I hope you didn't pay $199 for it...$199 can get you a good 3mp Hikvision IP camera. The angle looks wider than the 4.6mm they advertise it as. (looks like almost 90 deg angle, roughly a 2.8mm lens) Wider angle means your pixels will be more spread out and leading to blurry pictures. Is it varifocal? -
Found one on amazon UK but wow its so expensive...it makes mine look economical... http://www.amazon.co.uk/LINDY-SDI-HDMI-Converter-Extender/dp/B00A8MF83E/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1400460966&sr=8- 4&keywords=HD-SDI+extender

Yeah its kind of pointless to not have recording unless he has some sirens/motion detection lights or guard dogs that will notify him if someone is around and he can wake up to watch the TV. But still...he will need recording to show to the police.

What is your favorite NVR brand/model?
milkisbad replied to ranzor's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Well I have used both Hikvision and Dahua pretty extensively, seen the good and the bad. Here's my experience with Dahua What I like about Dahua: -Config Tool doesn't require installation or WinPcap -better picture in 1.3mp vs hikvision i feel -cheaper than hikvision -4x4 ch display mode on gdmss -32 ch display mode on 32 ch models of NVR -Doesn't sell directly to installers, only to their OEM and distributors (unless they buy direct from China..)...Hikvision USA + ADI is killing their distributors and resellers... -Stays in the shadow regarding Brand name, software doesn't display their name/logo/model numbers. -seem to listen to customers and release things people asks for such as 4 inch IP PTZ with 10x zoom, HDCVI, 128 ch super NVR. What I don't like about dahua: -hard to find firmware -too many settings in NVR/cameras -PSS isn't the easiest to use -most models are internet explorer only -poor user manuals -
Need help adding HikVision camera to Lorex NVR
milkisbad replied to ride525's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The really neat thing is once you have it up on your computer running in the background, you can port forward your computer using the software's ports and watch your cameras on remote computers and mobile phones using data just like a NVR. -
Opinions on Costco Q-See 8 Channel 720p HD 8 Cam $500 deal
milkisbad replied to dvsystem's topic in General Digital Discussion
2nd way is to not use the cables in the kit and run your own cat5e, then use Baluns. I heard HD-CVI will work with balun just like analog cameras... Baluns transform the 75 omh signals from the camera into 100 omh signals (which the Cat5 needs to transmit the video) then back to 75 omhs at the 2nd balun at the DVR side and feeds into the DVR, each camera needs 1 pair of balun. Where can you buy Balun and what does it look like?? http://www.amazon.com/PAIRS-Mini-Video-Balun-Price/dp/B007XUU6EA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1400290157&sr=8-2&keywords=balun (one of the most popular style, but other style exists including some that can transmit power) just keep your positive and negatives in check and the color of the cat5 and you'll be set. -
You can disconnect the factory fan and put in your own temperature regulated fan, it just a two pin connection for power in the motherboard I believe for Hikvision/Swann NVR.

Need help adding HikVision camera to Lorex NVR
milkisbad replied to ride525's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
my customer said the purple HD they can do playback alot faster than even green A/V drive... You have to format a HD first using the software if you need to do recording. i think you can split into partition or easier to get new HD. then set up motion recording under schedule and motion detection I think. -

CMS = Central Managament software or Central management systems. Some people call it VMS (video management system/software) Yea you can do most functions that a real NVR can do. -
Need help adding HikVision camera to Lorex NVR
milkisbad replied to ride525's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You should download the new one if you can find it. Its weird because sometimes I can't find it under client software if i go to their website itself and i have to google ivms4200pcnvr and THEN the link will pop up. So the link i gave you was from google's search lol. ivms4200 is the CMS software that links together multiple machines. IVMS4200 PCNVR is also a CMS software but it can format your hard drive and do motion recording directly. -

http://www.hikvision.com/en/download_more.asp?id=1190 I think he means the 'IVMS4200-PCNVR' software, you can download it above. -
Hikvision Fisheye camera: Postponed until further notice
milkisbad replied to milkisbad's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I think he meant the indoor model with plastic (not IP 66) is shipping out And the outdoor model with Metal and IP66 has no words on it. We have some 3mp Metal ones for testing, but its been testing for so long.... -
Opinions on Costco Q-See 8 Channel 720p HD 8 Cam $500 deal
milkisbad replied to dvsystem's topic in General Digital Discussion
wow at that price...looks like the dahua HD-CVI stuff, can't believe how cheap it is for 8 cameras. But if you want to future proof (and IP camera prices will go down), might as well get NVR now and have cat5e cable in place. -
Camera equivalent to Hikvision DS-2CD2332-I with audio
milkisbad replied to lunaros's topic in Security Cameras
Glad you got the camera! Hope you got the model with the (S) and supports audio. I posted some photo of the wiring before, so we found out you have to cut the mic wires and splice into a RCA female plug then plug a Mic in with RCA male. or skip the RCA parts and cut the microphone and splice onto it directly. For more details on the photos please see this thread. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=37506 -
Looking for DVR with Chrome / Firefox Support
milkisbad replied to security_hobbyist's topic in General Digital Discussion
Swann (ie Hikvision) should work. Also works on Mac Safari. Try out our demo on your chrome browser, then you'll see even our machines will work. -
Change DVR password, stopping potention intrusion
milkisbad replied to cam2017's topic in General Digital Discussion
He probably thinks if you reset the router, you will reset the port forwarding too which will cause it to not work anymore. Changing the password is fine, it should have nothing to do with the networking. DDNS is free from many distributors in US, not sure about UK. or just use the IP address and you can always find that out on canyouseeme.org if you need to reset password for any app or software, usually uninstalling and reinstalling will allow you to put in a new password. -

Hikvision camera zoomed in by itself - Zoom isn't working
milkisbad replied to Lafiro's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
are you still able to ping it continuously? check the POE connection, might be damaged by water . Did you buy from distributor or Hikvision USA? I think they only provide tech support to their OEM and distributor, then the OEM and dist provides support for installers....depending on where you got your camera, i wouldn't expect any response. You can also try to control the zoom by using another web browser such as chrome/firefox or the software ivms4200 and ivms4500 on the phone, if none of those lets you zoom in, then you know its hardware... -
Should be able to change it under the General settings or Basic Settings. The option should be like 'Enable Password Check'

http://www.eyemaxdvr.com/unixmanual/dvst-x-manual-TK-XQ-3-v2.01_d128.pdf default password should be 1111 according to the manual. I think they are also sold by Unix CCTV, you can try to give their tech support and ask nicely for the master reset password if you give them your model number. http://www.unixcctv.com/_e/HT_Series/product/DVST-HT-04CD/DVST_HT_04CD.htm (Maybe model number similarity though...)

Camera equivalent to Hikvision DS-2CD2332-I with audio
milkisbad replied to lunaros's topic in Security Cameras
http://www.hikvision.com/en/us/products_show.asp?id=9127 This would fit your bill the most, especially since you don't need strong IR if your store is lit most of the time. http://www.hikvision.com/en/products_show.asp?id=8724 That one is good too for your long and narrow aisles since you can adjust the lens to have a smaller angle. but price is about 1.5x of the first one. Also much more IR. Both have audio input, but you have to manually splice the mic in for the 2nd camera. Not sure about the first. -
What are your thoughts on Milestone Xprotect software?
milkisbad replied to latropa's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I would try out the PC NVR software if you only used the web interface. http://www.hikvision.com/en/download_more.asp?id=1190 -

milkisbad replied to latropa's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
What don't you like about the Hikvision recording? Have you try using ivms4200- PC-NVR yet? I actually really liked it (maybe just me?) -
If you have hikvision cameras, best to get Hikvision NVR. Here's a few questions to consider... -What's your budget? -how many ports POE switch do you have now? -Do you need NVR with built-in POE or without is fine? -How many total cameras at 3mp do you plan to have and what FPS do you need them at?
