How I wish I spoke Chinese
milkisbad replied to Numb-nuts's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Are you serious confuscious? Its a software disk and not a fortune cookie I have managed to get the mobile app and had it working by QR coding the APPLE ios link and typing the same name into google play and found it that way and there is a web interface but now just looking to find the client software. Haven't got screenshots as the DVRs firmware is in English. I haven't got the CD with me here it's at the client's home. haha if you put the software as a zip and pm me a dropbox link i will install it on my side. -

I can read Chinese if you post some screenshots I'll see what it says. -
This one is good, i read the previous edition (2010) though and not the 2014 edition. http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Video-Surveillance-Security-Second/dp/0124200427/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1424313863&sr=8-2&keywords=cctv+book I read this one too but now its kind of outdated, still good foundational stuff. http://www.amazon.com/Intelligent-Network-Video-Understanding-Surveillance/dp/1420061569/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424314060&sr=8-1&keywords=intelligent+network+video Books will give you a good background but for specific knowledge the forums are a good source as well as technical section from specific vendors' website.

Which camera system is better between these two from Costco?
milkisbad replied to slimcubby's topic in Security Cameras
I would look at some sample pictures first~ I would say 720P IP camera looks better than 720P CVI cameras but CVI is way cheaper. -
Which camera system is better between these two from Costco?
milkisbad replied to slimcubby's topic in Security Cameras
2nd one is better, its Dahua HD CVI. (720P) but looks like the old version of CVI (maybe that's why its so cheap). New version of CVI can record 1080P. -
for tvt there's a password to go to the backdoor menu which you can change the logos and language (not sure about debug) are you talking about that? lol numb-nuts.
-
I would not go anything below 700 TVL in this day and age.

best I can get out of this, am I expecting to much?
milkisbad replied to jagbuilt's topic in Security Cameras
Doesn't look THAT bad...maybe need an ir illuminator on camera 3. Since you have RG59 now, it gives you an easy upgrade to HD TVI or HD CVI. just swap out the camera and DVR. -
http://www.hikvision.com/en/Press-Release-details.asp?id=2660 Very interesting...clears up some mystery of HD TVI...hopefully its as good as it sounds, especially about the PTZ control via coaxial part: " In addition, the Turbo HD Analog solution supports UTC for remote set-up and configuration, and enables control of the OSD menu and PTZ control via coaxial cable. This means that users no longer have to go to the camera to make changes and enables much faster and easier camera installation and management." The DVR is suppose to be Tri-brid too (analog, hdtvi, and IP capable) ...if only it was HD SDI capable too.
-
I would just be careful mixing Fisheyes with that Exacq NVR even if its top of the line...especially with 10 of them, have your installer ever tested this ? Does it de-warp the image after recording or are you just recording a 360 degree view?
-
Set up DVR on the router in local network Connect phone to router in local network using wifi use phone app to connect to DVR and use as test monitor. Wait for HD TVI test monitor...
-
Best alternative is get hybrid HD CVI system (if they make one) that can do 1-2 ch IP+ 8ch CVI. then use IP camera on the garage with wireless radios like those from ubiquilti . HD TVI has those kinds of hybrid system not sure about CVI.

How to adjust Hikvision 2332 lens position?
milkisbad replied to timmmay's topic in Security Cameras
Yes use a VERY light touch to unscrew the trim ring (it won't come off the harder you twist) then there's a screw that holds the camera in place, once you loosen that screw you can move the eyeball around. -
If it crashes try to use the software that the DVR comes with. But then again those software are for windows and mac...you can put them on your windows mother server though? Software for Hikvision is called ivms 4200 Actually judging from the GUI in the Alienpro lite user manual : http://www.systemq.com/PDG_Commerce/TeleSales/Files/Discontinued/xAlien404.pdf it looks like an Old hikvision DVR.... so ivms4200 should work for both of them and you can show both DVR on one software in theory. Here's where you download ivms 4200 if you want to try it. http://www.hikvision.com/en/download_more.asp?id=1388 But anyways they sell HDMI and VGA splitters which is what people generally use when they need multiple monitors...

Hikvision DS-7716NI-SP Framerate for all camera's?
milkisbad replied to 300winmag's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi Winmag, Hikvision made a guide on how much bandwidth you need for the cameras, i think it'll give you a better idea. http://oversea-download.hikvision.com/uploadfile/doc/NVR%20Camera%20Capacity%20based%20on%20Bit%20Rate.pdf on page 2 But bandwidth is really one of those things that is advancing very fast with technology...check Hikvision's site for any new models that will have even more bandwidth. the 32 ch has been out for like a year and a half now. I think even dahua is coming out with NVR that has 200 mbps recording. for 3mp and 15fps i usually set it for 4-5 mbps at highest quality. -
Hikvision DS-7716NI-SP Framerate for all camera's?
milkisbad replied to 300winmag's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Get the 32 ch the reason why i say that is because your extra channels can come in handy in the future if you ever have offsite cameras or another locations. you just have to port forward those off site cameras then add the remote address in the nvr and you can add it like a regular camera and record directly to your NVR Also works with Hikvision DVR and analog camera. But then you need good internet upload speed at those remote sites. And yes you will have more room for 5mp once the prices goes down...5mp you will have to set it for 8-16mbps depending on your quality. 16 Mbps is the max you can allocate to each camera at the moment PS: the cost is actually about the same between the two units, but they have a much higher profit margin with the 32 ch, try to get a lower price if you going for the 32...you can at least get $50-70 off whatever they are selling it now for. -

HD TVI press release by Hikvision
milkisbad replied to milkisbad's topic in General Digital Discussion
Maybe you are right in that only 12 fps can be transmitted over the limited bandwidth. 30 FPS could be too much for sending and receiving over a long distance cable without much degradation of the video signal. From what I have seen there's two models available from Hikvision (at least for the 16 channel) a 1 U case which is 12 FPS/ch at 1080P, but 30 FPS for 720P and under (including WD1) a 1.5 U case unit which is 30 FPS/Ch at 1080P, but its almost double the price of the 1 U case one. For 4 and 8 ch one, its up to 12 FPS for 1080 P TVI. I think its not the cable that is the limiting factor but the DVR...the live view of the DVR seems to be 30 FPS even on the 1 U case economical ones. -
HD-SDI backward compatibility with analog CCTV cameras
milkisbad replied to SymphonyX8's topic in HD Analog
TVT (manufacturer for Q-see and etc) will release TVI as well. But apparently they say analog doesn't work with it.... TVT TVI = all brands of TVI cameras only Hik TVI = all brands of TVI, all brands of analog, ONVIF 2MP IP cameras (1 for the 4 ch, 2 for the 8 ch and 16 ch) according to their website, Dahua will make CVI into tri-brid too...(CVI/analog/IP) http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/hcvr740474087416l-657.html -
Outrageous quote for camera installation! HELP!
milkisbad replied to superfly611's topic in Security Cameras
Most IP PTZ comes with the POE injector/power supply in the price (especially for 4.3k for two...)...he should not charge you another $578 for POE injector If he's charging you for $897 already for fiber cable, why is he charging you again $269 for more cables? compression video ends is .70-$1 each ...and you're not even putting up an analog PTZ right? I would find another guy to quote you... -

"NVR 4 cameras no hard drive" Any POE built-in? even with a 4 ch POE built-in you're looking at $199-$299 for Hikvision NVR (no Hard drive)
