  1. As a simple question... How much does the house cost? Or what you are after for securing? Could you make an insurance? How big would that be? If insurance is too big, revert to video. How much would you spend on video, in the case you want to self-insure? When you get an insurance, you know what are the ups and downs of the system. You know what you opt-in for and what you opt-out for. When you self install a system, you are your own insurer. If something happens, you are responsable. You opted for those equipments.
  2. both...or all... nvr/nvs/dvr/ipc/speed dome/its/ the url is in the same format for all... you just add a channel parameter and a stream type (or not) what's your point?
  3. ports for what? who is stupid enough to build a solution with NVRs that are in front of a router? i think you are misunderstanding some parts... what do you want to know/prove? be honest. it's simpler. less bloatware around
  4. What tha... From 1080p viewable stream on mobile you gone to firewalls/ports about RTSP? Where's your logic? And, secondly, RTSP wil become a defacto port(somehow)&protocol when people will migrate to OnVif devices and servers. But still, where's your logic?
  5. I never setup my customer with direct log in to cameras Always to "NVR" by web services or smart phone client to server It can be done via username/pass encoded RTSP URL stream. This is part of OnVif. (and, yes, can also be integrated with lots of NVR software, even opensource as zoneminder or motion) Also, it's an embedable stream via QuickTime. (actually, there are two of them)
  6. And I thought it's called a smartphone... Still, you got my answer
  7. Have you included a "remote" store/backup soution? Also what happens if the power goes down? Or one of your cameras gets cut? do you want to alert anyone/you?
  8. If you're asking me, I tested my I9000 via RTSP. Why?
  9. I suppose you mainly use software-MP-enabled cameras (as in upscale)? Also, a 32'' 720p vs 32'' 1080p would be the same only if... the TV is shut off. Even at 7-10'' screens you will get the difference, if you use the proper source. For example, take the two pics posted by IP, resize them and put them 1/2-1/2 side-by-side... you will clearly see the difference.
  10. I would go for a D-LINK, TP-LINK or some other devices that are a little bit high... Trendnet it's kind of common...
  11. Auch, sorry! Then keep in mind that DAHUA's cams have implemented IEE802.3af so you should use a switch that supports this or the earlier protocol. PoE injectors "might" work, but i would not rely on them.
  12. How about ACORID switches? We've been testing them with DAHUA and we had no problems

I suppose it wasn't a QSEE branded firmware? That could explain some stuf...
  14. Use the RTSP stream of the camera with a RTSP Player for Android (or an OnVif-complaint client). Be carefull, the RTSP stream is not as stable as DAHUA's own and you might get video artefacts. I think VLC will do. Or a ffmpeg based player.
  15. Seems a little noisy, but I might be wrong... Good opinion can be made after you upload/post a full 1080p snapshot and, maybe, in a dark, outside enviroment

How to use analog PTZ camera with a HD-SDI DVR?

Use both systems? Old Analog DVR & new SDI one?

About ACTi, I really don't know... maybe the revision specs of the OnVif implementation are not 2.0 or the NVR has an older firmware. You could get error in images (due to sensor temperature problem) and affect the mechanics (as you said, the IRCUT). Since I haven't seen any cameras bad due to cold weather, my experience is close to nothing. Most of them have problems with bad waterproofing/dustproofing, sweat or ESD/thunder strikes.

No, if it's outside NVR's internal router/switch, should have an IP in the class of the LAN port of the NVR. Did you try manually adding it? I don't know a dedicated heated fixed camera from DAHUA, but most cameras do somehow auto-heat via electronics. Problem could appear is power is down or something like that (IPC not working). All DAHUA's PTZ have a fan and somekind of heat (via resistors or a heating element). I used only PTZs from DAHUA (due to their amazing click-in-image function) and fixed, MP cameras. I beleive the heating element it's only used so the camera would not fog up. FYI, I have some no-name fixed interior cameras(were some samples) that are mounted outside, in a non-waterproof enclosure, but protected from rain via a small "roof". I never had any problems with them at about -13 - -15F.

PSS will only work with DAHUA-based products (including QSEE). If ACTi is not "seen" by the NVR, then it might not be OnVif compatible - thus it will not work. If the camera is OnVif compat, maybe you need to update the NVR. Of course they are on different IPs, since the NVR manages them. If you want to access any camera, you should do that via the NVR. You could try Axxon to view both brands, but the NVR will not record ACTi.
  20. I would stay away from Wireless Cams/IPCams... They can be jammed and, in the worst case, can become a "free eye" for anyone wanting to get a peek in your house...
  21. 99% PoE will not solve this. It may be a cable problem? What do you mean by "detected by the router"? Assign an IP or just make link? Of course, in the end, could be a hardware problem/dead on arrival product.
