    Avigilon vs Dahua

http://www.asmag.com/rankings/security50_rankings.aspx based on stupidity of people, I suppose...
  2. Via what protocol? NFS/CIFS/SMBFS/FTP/other?

    Dahua with IE 10

delete the ActiveX and try to reinstall it by Running IE32 as admin. DAHUA's been down for 6 hours now... i don't know why

    Dahua with IE 10

Just upgraded it and it works with no problem
  5. One other factor of the NAS: usually, uses a common filesystem, so there is no control on the security of the recordings. Thus, the recordings can be deleted or a part of them can be deleted (usually by a third person).
  6. Usually DSS needs some good tech support for implementation; thus, he should rely on someone to help him at anytime, not to go and ask and maybe someone on a forum will answer - keeping the client waiting.
  7. Theese are things you should discuss with your supplier, not on a forum!
  8. some mouse control could make that HighSpeed Dome move real fast
  9. with all due respect, are you using it via simple PTZ keyboard?
  10. Did you buy a DAHUA product or a cheap clone?

    Dahua HFW2100 x passive POE

You need a true PoE, not a "toy" PoE... Better get a switch or power the camera via 12V DC.
  12. Not really... Actually I think it's better than (some) of the CCD cameras out there (low noise and the IR sensitivity is good) Also the resolution it's better than others (if you would check a Foscam you could think it's digitally zoomed to HD rather than true HD)
  13. Via 24/32 port PoE switches... Why do you ask?
  14. Limited to FPS? Direct to HD? What do you mean? They use a very well implemented ideea: they have their own protocol for communication and their own file system (so no one could alter/delete them in an easy way)... They store "RAW" data that is hard to decode/modify. I know, most systems use simple FAT/FAT32 or EXT3/EXT4 and AVI(or other container for H.264) file format... Well, at a consumer level, that seems right and simple. But at a PRO level, that is a lack of security and confidence.
  15. The recording. It's a hardware limitation, since at playback the recordings are decompressed. The NVR works like this: -streams from cameras are directly written to the HDDs, with no video/audio decompression (besides data for making the log of events) -also, the streams are decoded and displayed -at playback, data is read from storage, decoded, and displayed, based on the database/log of events or time So at everytime you display an image, it will need decompression.
  16. If are talking about the NVR6000, we are talking about a server-class solution (redundant power supplies, RAID, hot-swap, ECC, watchdogs, 4 gigabit LANs that can be bonded etc), with 6 HDMI outputs, all integrated in a single device with full control over the outputs... No, there is quite a big difference between 6 NVRs and one standalone NVR that will sum up 6 NVRs in one (have you tested it to see how it works?) The implementation is similar to PSS (with tasks and recording plans).
  17. Use a NTP - time server to keep the devices in sync (I do remember an option on DAHUA's NVR to auto-sync it's time with camera)
  18. True, but not even PSS can playback so many channells synced... so you either identify the date range and download the recording for that from each NVR or... This is already a VA - Video Analytics required situation or a very clever install made with motion detect, zone setup and alarm sensors (yes, you can search by recording, MD or alarm)
  19. footage can be burnt via USB/eSATA CD/DVD/BDWriter you can also backup to an USB stick, USB HDD or eSATA HDD (it's a standalone device, not a semi-standalone!) 6000 can preview 36 720p (if i do remember well)... also, no one could watch 36 time cameras at a time, so either you switch the cameras, display them at Motion Detection/Alarm Inputs or other evenys, or you could just output them to a big video wall, using other NVDs/NVRs as decoders
  20. Why does it make sense to re-decode the already decoded stream? If you want to monitor all of them, anyone can just add 6 HDMI/DVI monitors. If you want to monitor a part of them, playback, a KVM switch can be used.
  21. IMHO, a timestamp on a recording isn't a "secure" thing, as the clock can be changed by anyone (or did I get the picture wrong?). All of the DAHUA's recording devices use a digital watermark on their recording (a CRC) that can be checked via the dedicated player (we are talking here about the .DAV file that is downloaded from the device) Also, the player has the capability to pause&save a snapshot if you want to digitally zoom it.
  22. Bare in mind that is firmware-dependent!
