Dahua for time lapse imaging?
dexterash replied to mroek's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Up to a point, yes (at least, with that firmware) No, but dedicated software (like PSS) can be used to access port 37777 and display images & etc. Yes, the root password can be changed (after figuring the right hash algo). Other stuff... well, not! As i stated, DAHUA uses one single app to handle all, so there is little hope to modifiy anything. The only "public" files are the webserver's content, some config files for DAHUA (in proprietary format) and branding. All are readonly, separated partitions, except a small partition used for storing config. -

9988 is a default port for the OnVif server. In newer firmwares, DAHUA included it in it's 80 port server. For security reasons, anyone can use only port 37777 (without forwarding 80 too). -

99.99% you can't, since DAHUA uses a single executable to start all services (thus you cannot kill a service, modifiy a service's configuration files etc) A good way would be to ask you seller for an older firmware -

You have to understand one thing: problems/bugs do appear in any product (even if it's Microsoft or Apple), so they release updates and fixes Also, there are some sellers that do not have latest firmwares or, if they do have, they do not have "time" to update the products to latest firmwares (reducing costs). This is why DAHUA only recommends to buy from trusted & recognized sellers, not through any channel (aliexpress, ebay etc). Another thing can happen. DAHUA releases a beta-firmware for testing purposes by their well-known clients (to review them, test, request features, etc). The client says "oh, good, a new nice firmware, let's make it available to the public". So the buggy firmware is made available to all and the final-clients update their firmwares( for "new features") to buggy firmwares. As you can see on this forum too, there are people that make available any firmware they find on Internet or anywhere else, as a "latest firmware". It's a very bad bad practice! -

It can be done Just make sure you'll get the NAS settings correctly! -
Both MP and D1 streams are available via RTSP, but you need a good firmware... Can you access your cam via Chrome/Non-IE browser?

Dahua camera lens options
dexterash replied to destro_23's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You have a very good point. As a general rule, optics are what make an image look good, right? (ask the photo people, they know that) MEGA/MEGA PIXEL/ETC are not brands, are just some lens that are rated to work with "megapixel" cameras... But megapixels cameras can be 1 to 10, let's say... So how do you know you bought an 1 or 10MP lens? (we, usually, exclude the IR filter, since that can be done at sensor level - thus making the lens changing easier) You don't know, unless you test and confirm it (talking about China). Also, you don't know it if you have a lot of good MP lens or just 1/10 are MP and the rest are D1. -
Sorry if post-hijacking, but what's the resolution you record on Aver box?

Search google for PSS DPI fix -
Quick interesting ideea: find a usb/network device to do a reset if your PC hangs. Also, there are 2 more things to consider (in general): power requirements/consumpation and the fact that something bad can happen to you, so you could need your recordings... overall, you didn't spend money on the cameras just to play with them, right?
-
Keep in mind that: NAS: -doesn't decode video stream (to display it locally, on a VGA/HDMI monitor) -doesn't manage recordings (usually it's done via a PC) -doesn't manage/watchdog/config cameras Soft NVR: -needs a stable computer -needs big resources to display decode and display 4 1080p streams -it's not safe to use the PC for other applications -if it's Windows based, it's prone to problems (you will have a hard time stripping services and applications from default Windows) A dedicated NVR should be, in theory, the "mind" that controlls all the system and assures you that the system is running ok; also, we are talking about security here, right?

i don't think it has something to do with the software (it will say "unsupported device")... maybe you have a MAC conflict in your network -

True and not true. DAHUA also sells branded products, but only via official channels. For example, all the products we use have the DAHUA logo (on local/web interface) and, also, on the product itself. -

More than 4 cameras on a Dahua NVR?
dexterash replied to RickyGee's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
In a simple way: 2@1080p = 4@720p, so you can only combo 2+4... But depends on framerate and firmware version -

The models I use(d) have an watchdog that resets(after some time)/doesn't boot the NVR if you remove the power to the PoE switch.
