Is there a device to see (measure) the view of Lenses?
Thomas replied to jjjjjjj's topic in Security Cameras
I found a nice little palm program to do the lens caluations. pCAM it's called. You should be able to find it in google. -
It also can be disabled on the client end. Might want to check that.

The bosch bi-phase we haven't been able to get. They did give us the Phillips protocols without a hassle. There isn't much point to hiding the protocols anyway though. I know the Phillips works because a client has it out at the site and I moved it remotely.

I was presented with an odd problem that puts me out of my depth. Customer wants to use a PTZ that is 2000' away. A direct run of RG-59 will go through an area that will be future construction. It could be trenched deep enough to avoid that, but it's going a be a PITA. There is no direct line of sight. Fiber may not be an option, but I haven't comfirmed it yet. Any ideas?

Seagate has been tossing rumors out about an upcomming 600 GB drive and Hitachi is promising a terrabyte by 2007. I guess all that work they did on the mini drives for the IPods is paying off.

Promise makes a few at $50.

With two drives, you won't get much fault tolerance no matter how you do it, unless you use RAID 1.
-
Two types of options here. One is software spanning. The other is raid. Lets toss the software spanning out the window for now. So that leaves raid. For two drives you want Raid 0 or JBOD. To do it you need a motherboard or a raid card.

Um, rootkit comes to mind. A user is a danger to any operating system. Mandrake for instance comes out of the box listening for ports. Not a great idea.

Get a router. Then have it use 8080 as a private port and do the forward to a differant public port. -
I've generally found that most companies are very willing to give the PTZ protocols to DVR manufacture types. Bosch, Pelco, Hunt, Sony, and Vicon all gave them up without any grief. Now those are the ones I've personally called to get the protocols.

Just don't move the mouse.

Not much radation, the sun is much more dangerous. So what happened to the Microwave Rory? Did you put a CD in it?

XP has a Dos emulator, and there are some others that work well.

*cough* A syn packet with the PC's IP address...crafted just right and watch the XP/2k/2k3 box lock up. But where one would get such a packet...well the bugtrack mailing list might know.

1. You won't see 108 mbs...ever. Even if you live in the middle of nowhere, you won't see that speed. 2. Some wireless routers will drop down the lowest standard on the network. If your PDA is A and the router is the B varient that tries to grab all of the 2.4 specturm, then you're limited to A speeds. Not all will, and some research is a good idea. 3. 2.4 phones and 2.4 routers generally cause conflict. So will most microwaves.

Doesn't that still take a while?

And soon when someone finds an easier way to splice fiber, it will all be the same.

Embeded is a *** to work with. It requires a lot more work to get a working system going.
-
Or if you're lazy you use localhost.

Proposed System ... Please leave input.

*coughs* We have the cards fab for us by Comart and we make the software. -
Realisticly you could do it now by doing a seperat network with the DVR grabbing it through a gateway. The bottleneck is framerate, but that's nothing new.

Ah, the envy of a old man past his prime.

On the low end, the Power Edge 420 SC, or a bit higher the Power Edge 800. If you buy from Dell, look at the small Bussiness pricing. It gives the best price break.

The freezing does shrink the platters, and it thickens the lube the drives use.
