  1. On my ACTi 3MP domes I set: Encoder Type: H.264 H.264 Profile: High Profile Resolution: N2048X1536 Frame Rate: 15 Video Bit Rate Mode: Constant Bit Rate Video Max Bit Rate: Unlimited Video Bit Rate: 6M Question: Is the video bit rate setting @ 6M overkill in your opinion? Should I lower it to 4M?
  2. I finally got around to installing this. Here are my pics.
  3. Can anybody recommend a decent outdoor-rated active microphone (12v) that would be rated for winter (-40C/-40F)? I want to incorporate this into a pure PoE based camera solution by using the power supply of ACTi's DI/DO system (of the camera I have) to feed the active microphone.
  4. I just picked one up. I'm going to attempt to try and do this....
  5. Exactly! Axis have some great products but strictly for residential purposes, don't rule out ACTi solutions either.
  6. I use my Xbox for the TV (but usually just my IPad and the iOS app) to view BI remotely. So, Xbox using I.E. to hit BI webserver on my network. Or you could just get a HDMI extender and run from your pc to tv; Or http://www.networkcameracritic.com/?p=1049 Lots of options that way for remote viewing on a tv
  7. Np. Keep in mind that continual SD (on-board of the camera unit itself) writing does have a life expectancy. Consult the specs of the card you purchase.
  8. Yes aesthetics and the fact that it's harder to judge the FOV. But most important, vandal-resistant. Hit a bullet camera with a crowbar and see what happens to it in comparison to the same on a dome.
  9. The ACC software is Axis products only. I use a dedicated B.I. pc for all my Axis cams.
  10. Me too. Can't wait to see what the review finds on the said ACTi domes.
  11. Take a look at ACTi's product Matrix: http://www.acti.com/support/productmatrix/productMatrix.asp. There are camera's that are lower priced than the E44. I'm in the same boat as you....$500 range per outdoor camera that would be rated to -40 celcius. I'm currently looking at the D82 (3MP Outdoor Dome with D/N, IR, Vari-focal lens, f2.8-12mm/F1.4, H.264, 1080p/30fps, DNR, MicroSDHC, PoE, IP66, IK10) and E74 (3MP Outdoor Dome with D/N, IR, Superior WDR, Fixed lens, f2.93mm/F2.0, H.264, 1080p/30fps, DNR, MicroSDHC, PoE, IP66, IK10). The only problem with D82 is that is has no WDR; Just debating on how much I need the feature as the rest of the specs are perfect for my needs. The D82 retails for ~$450 CAD and E74 ~ $558; More in my price range. These cams should be slightly lower in USA. I had asked Buellwinkle if he could inquire with ACTi to get demo's of these two cams. Just waiting to see if he does as I like his reviews.
  12. The E44 (2MP Bullet with D/N, IR, Basic WDR, SLLS, Vari-focal lens, f2.8-12mm/F1.4, H.264, 1080p/30fps, DNR, PoE, IP66) is retailing for $859 CAD.
  13. Try ACTi - mid-range well priced and D/E series rated well below what you would receive temperature wise in your region.
  14. As per ACTi's recently released newsletter: After extensive testing to support applications in the northern tier, and specialty locations we are proud to announce that our Discovery and Essential series Outdoor models now feature extended low temperature range capability. All D/E l Bullet and Vandal Dome models (D/E3x, 4x, 7x, 8x) listed for operation down to-40°C/-40°F! http://www.acti.com/eNewsletter/2013/monthly_enews/April/ACTi_eNewsletter_April_2013.html
  15. ACTi have updated their spec sheets today. I verified a few models and indeed it now lists: Operating Temperature -40°C ~ 50°C (-40°F ~ 122°F) Korgoth Of Barbaria - are you able to provide some info on the D82???
  16. I'm in the same boat as you! Exact same mounting scenario.
  17. Great! - could you post 1-daytime and 1-nightime picture plus one quick nightime clip? I'm particularly interested to know if you're encountering IR dome bleed with this model. How do you like this model? Knowing what you know now and using first hand, would you recommend it? The specs meet my critieria but I can't find any reviews on it anywhere. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. And Bouci, sorry for hijacking your thread.
  18. I'm currently looking at getting a few combinations of E74's (new) and D82's myself. I have been in contact with a Canadian ACTi rep whom assures me (today) that these two models are actually rated to -40 Celsius. Apparently the product spec sheets will be updated with the proper low end temp rating at the end of this week or early next week. Apparently this rep has pushed ACTi to test their camera's in colder temperatures for outdoor applications in Canada; And they have proven to work to -40 Celsius but apparently it takes time to update all marketing spec sheets. The spec sheets for the E series currently state they are rated to -20 but this will be updated to -40 very soon he said. P.S. I asked Buellwinkle to try and review these two models (E74 & D82), and he will apparently inquire with ACTi. If anybody has or knows of any reviews of these models, please let me know!
  19. I'm in exactly the same boat. I have scoured everywhere and cannot find an independant review of this model (DS-2CD2132-I). I'm ready to purchase this model via Aliexpress, but I'm holding off. I contacted Buellwinkle (networkcameracritic.com) yesterday (May 1st) and apparently he has since sent off a request to Hikvison to be supplied this model in order to write a review. Let's cross our fingers and hope Hikvision provides him this model to review. At the price this camera is listed for, I want it so bad. I need 6!! (I also use Blue Iris so hopefully Buellwinkle could confirm this works too)
  20. i stated in my first post that i did not like blue iris What, just based on what the interface looks like? I have been using Blue Iris for 2 + years now. Yes the interface isn't slick looking. But, feature wise and bang-for-your-buck, Blue Iris blows many solutions away. I would take features over how the interface looked any day.
  21. Beat you all this morning. Temperature @ 6:30 am this morning (with the windchill factor in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) was -46 Celcius (-50.8 F). No joke.
  22. Yes. All of my cams are pointed downwards. like I said, so far to date, no burn.
  23. Not an issue for Canadians! Windows are either dual or triple pane, filled with Argon gas.
