    Remote Farm Installation

If you have no luck with that, I can tell you that I have set up a wireless network, using a standard router and 2 directional gain antennas, over 1 mile away. It worked very well. I have heard of people doing this with very focused beam antenna's supposedly up to 200 miles. They had tall towers, I guess. Here is the best part. You can make an antenna with a very high gain factor, very directional, out of a tin can, a short piece of copper wire and a connector. The specs are available, just google them. The set I made worked quite well, better than the factory made $147.00 job, for sure! Not really something a pro would offer, but it works.
  2. You can get a video capture card that fits a pci slot, but unless you have a VERY powerful computer, I would forget about using it to multitask video. Bit of a challenge for the average computer.
  3. Don't know if this will help but, you could get a VGA to Video convertor box, then change the bnc connector to an RCA connector and use that. I'm assuming you are looking to transmit straight video to a monitor. Luck
  4. Does anyone know of an HD or High Res camera/lens combo that will mount in an AD Speed dome 2000 without having to modify things too much? Thanks in advance. Kneepuck

    Sensormatic RA486LP

I had a similar setup. You need to make sure the camera address is set. If you have only 1 camera, set the switches to 0, so camera address will be 0. Your USB to RS422/RS485 converter will work if wired correctly, ie. be sure the send line low and high on the converter are wired to the recieve low and high on the camera. I used a shareware program called PTZ controller. It is easily available on the internet, first 30 days use are free, after that you have to pay. Find out which com port your converter is emulating by using Device Manager in windows, look for Ports, and see what number port you are using. In the PTZ software, set the proper com port, 4800 baud, and select the AD-RS422/485 protocal. Also, open the Camera window and select the address of the camera, ie. 000. Put your mouse pointer on the center of the little screen the software provides, hold the left mouse button down and move the mouse. Cam should move. If not, check your wires. Enjoy.
