No, it doesn't matter, you can access either system through the VPN. -
There should be an investigation.

Did you get a cd with a manual? If not, contact who you bought it from or get the manual from the company site.

What's more secure for internet cctv - PC based or standalon
51cent replied to klimsi's topic in General Digital Discussion
The most secure way would be setting up a VPN server on the router the system is connected to. (If your router supports it.) https://www.google.com/search?q=setting+up+VPN+on+router&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b -
Install surveilance camera + motion detecting security light
51cent replied to voyager's topic in Security Cameras
A separate PIR sensor to control a light and trigger the cameras should work. If your cameras are 3 years old, you might want to check into starlight/ultra low light cameras, there will be a big difference. -
Install surveilance camera + motion detecting security light
51cent replied to voyager's topic in Security Cameras
In the camera motion settings, look for masking. With masking, you can exclude areas from being monitored for motion. Look into your cameras manual for how to do it. For id purposes at night, some people like to setup or force the camera into daylight only mode and use bright white motion lights or dusk to dawn lighting. Getting id from ir lighting at night is difficult. -
GESS, did the customer forward the correct port(s) on their router in the US?

Whats the better IP CAM form factor for outdoor use?

I second turret or eyeball cameras. Bullet cams with IR attract spiders, it will drive you nuts. -

Dahua HFW3300C bricked - still pings, can't login
51cent replied to RickyGee's topic in Security Cameras
You could try SmartPSS from the Dahua site. Last I checked, there was a new version and an older version. My Dahua camera only works with the older version, for some reason, so try 'em both. Another option would be try ONVIF device manager 2.250 from Sourceforge and see if it can see your camera. -
Can't you just port forward the dvr port(s)? Or better yet, run a VPN server on your router? With DMZ all your ports are open.

Dahua ptz ip cam has mic built in, will it work over ip?
51cent replied to howuduin's topic in Security Cameras
Nice camera! It looks like it doesn't have a built in mic, but has the inputs. You will need to wire in a mic. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M5P7HCW -

You could try IE tab extension for either firefox or chrome browsers. Or try the pale moon browser. https://www.palemoon.org/ For IE go to/ internet options/security/trusted sites/sites and add the ip address. Also disable/untick protected mode. Also try custom level and allow or tick ask for active x options. -
You probably need to start with asearch like this. https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+choose+a+security+camera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b

tummy, have you thought about a game/trail camera? http://bestreviews.com/best-trail-cameras

A camera like the Dahua IPC-HFW1320S-W might fit your needs. It takes a 128gb micro sd card to store video, is wireless, night vision etc.

It depends on your data plan. If you are unlimited, no problem. Try a data calculator. https://www.supercircuits.com/resources/tools/security-nvr-storage-calculator More on the Circle2 ; https://techcrunch.com/2017/07/26/logitech-circle2-is-a-great-surveillance-system-but-for-a-price/

Updating Hikvision DS-7608NI-E2/8P
51cent replied to alexf40's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Whaaaaaaat????? http://overseas.hikvision.com/us/about_10677.html Unauthorized Distributors Notice Hikvision USA sells products only through authorized distributors. We value our industry partners and are proud of the relationships we have developed to help expand the use of our innovative technology products and solutions. These authorized distributors have committed to serve as a link in the Hikvision USA value chain by providing excellent pre- and post-sale customer service including full firmware and sales engineering support. Unfortunately, not every distributor advertising Hikvision products has been authorized by Hikvision USA to advertise or sell those products. We warn potential customers against purchasing these “gray market” products from unauthorized distributors. Unauthorized distributors may be selling counterfeit, used, or damaged product. Much of the products sold by unauthorized distributors have been altered with modified firmware. Since this means that it is no longer in original factory condition, Hikvision warranty is void, per company policy. -
All three links are the same. This looks like an inside camera that you plan on viewing the car through a window? It probably won't work well at night. Cloud storage can get expensive, you only get a little bit of storage and then need to purchase additional storage. It can also run up your data usage. The camera you linked to is battery powered, how often do you want to change batteries? If you can, mount a decent outdoor ip security camera outside with sd card storage. Almost all of them have IR lighting/night vision. Good brands are Hikvision/Dahua/Axis/ Panasonic/Lorex/Swann
