A PTZ would be helpful if your car was sometimes parked in a different spot. If you got a better system, like Dahua, yo can use other cameras to trigger the ptz to move to a preset. https://dahuawiki.com/PTZ_Activation_Setup

Residential Duplex - Selection/Compatability ?'s for Cam/NVR
51cent replied to Twit42's topic in Security Cameras
twit, if you are going to mix cameras and build a computer for the cameras, I can recommend Blue Iris. It is highly configurable and works with about any IP camera. Milestone has a free software for up to 8 cameras, but when I tried it, it left a big watermark in one corner of the video. For cameras, look at he Dahua starlight and Hikvision Ultra Low light cameras. Excellent night vision for the price. -
Interference is the reason zombie. If your wireless system has missed something like a car door checker or prowler that didn't steal anything, how would you know? Here is a good read. http://www.pcworld.com/article/227973/six_things_that_block_your_wifi_and_how_to_fix_them.html

If they are covering up their faces, which more of them are doing, what is the point? If you really want to startle them and discourage them from coming further up the driveway, try a motion controlled sprinkler. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Orbit-Yard-Enforcer-Motion-Activated-1600-sq-ft-Sprinkler/4363433

Zombie, if you do a little homework, you will find out wireless is not totally reliable and will let you down. You will need a power wire to the camera(s) anyways, so you might as well run cat5/cat6 and do it right.

PTZ Camera not Tilting all the way up after a week.
51cent replied to jerry007's topic in Security Cameras
It could be the power supply, or it could be the low quality camera(s). The PTZ looks like the Huisun mini ptz or Imporx cameras, which have had a lot of problems. The separate power supply should reveal to you if it is the camera. If the Boogerman were here, he would tell you to send it all back. -
Honeywell H4D3PRV3 camera log in; browser security problem

Tinycam pro or Ipcam viewer pro by Robert Chou should be good. You would just enter in the local ip address when configuring. -
Honeywell H4D3PRV3 camera log in; browser security problem
51cent replied to FarmerEd's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
farmer, in your original post you stated, I believe, that you didn't want to access the cameras from outside the network and had no need for port forwarding? Have you changed your mind? If so, the answer would be a VPN server instead of port forwarding. -
If good night vision is important, check out the Dahua starlight models. They are ip cameras though, and cost a little more, but they are 2mp and give the most bang for the buck. You can do a google search for demos. And, if you care to, do a google search for advantages of ip cameras over analog cameras. Hikvision also has their ultra low light cameras and are comparable to Dahua.

Looking to buy outdoor wireless IP security cameras
51cent replied to diitto's topic in Security Cameras
You want a wireless outdoor PTZ camera? Look at this one. http://www1.dahuasecurity.com/products/sd22204t-gn-w-3771.html It meets most of your needs, sees IR lighting but doesn't have it. When you want quality ptz with wireless, you severely limit your choices. A few thoughts; 1. Wireless is not a good idea for security cameras. They will sometimes let you down right when you need it, due to interference. 2. If you mount a camera with ir lighting under the eaves, you might get ir reflection causing the camera view to look foggy at night. Mount it close to the edge to avoid thaat. 3. If mounting on a pole, make sure the pole is strong and steady. Windy conditions will drive you crazy with sway. -
Dahua makes some of the cameras for Amcrest, I don't believe Amcrest makes their own cameras. I can't help you with the hybrid questions.

Would the Panasonic WV‑SW175 benefit from an IR illuminator?
51cent replied to ddbear's topic in Security Cameras
It does not look like it has an ir cut filter, so ir won't help. The 0.6 color and 0.5 b&w lux rating isn't good. For that kind of money you can get a PTZ with ir lighting from Dahua or Hikvision. They have about a .005 lux rating. You can find Starlight demos online. Panasonic is top quality, but expensive. -
Tom is correct, the new outdoor ones are Dahua made.

The new Amcrest ptz cameras are rebranded Dahua cameras. You will probably pay less for Dahua cameras. You may want to look at the Dahua Starlight cameras, their night vision is very good for the price.

I would start the homework with a google search. https://www.google.com/search?q=security+cameras+analog+vs+ip&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b#q=advantages+of+ip+camera+over+analog -
Neighbor aiming camera directly into my backyard
51cent replied to SaturnR's topic in Security Cameras
1. I could board up the window too. 2. Thanks for the idea. 3. Reread my post. I spoke to him and expressed my displeasure with the location and was told that he won't peek in the bedroom. 1. I would imagine anyone with any hope of privacy in a major city would at least close the shade at night with a female in the room. Boarding up the window, when pulling the shade will accomplish the same thing would be foolish. 2. You are welcome. 3. Talk to him again and tell him you WILL pursue legal action. Egging a car is no reason to be peeping into a neighbors window. -
I'm wondering if it could be something like those laser Xmas lights that move in a pattern?

Neighbor aiming camera directly into my backyard
51cent replied to SaturnR's topic in Security Cameras
You could 1 Close the curtain/shade on the window. 2 Mount a cheap ir light by the window pointing at the camera. This should blind the camera at night. The light can not be seen by the naked eye except for a dull red glow at the lightsource itself. Here is one. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/HOBOVISIN-CCTV-Array-IR-illuminator-infrared-lamp-6pcs-ArrayLed-IR-Light-Outdoor-Waterproof-for-CCTV-Camera/32570855226.html?spm=2114.13010308.0.0.AKduxC 3 Talk to him about moving the camera. -

Concerened someone may be viewing on my WiFi IP Camera
51cent replied to QC444's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Well, if I was the manufacturer and I "intended" to be able to view peoples private cameras, I would probably be able to suppress logs of my log ins and activity....this might be a bit paranoid....but again it's China so is it necessarily? Imagine if people who work for Lockheed Martin or any one of our defense contractors and they put one of these in their home which can also transmit audio..... I can all but guarantee you that while our government spies on us regularly, they probably have given ZERO thought to this. Did you even try looking? Does your router have logs? -

Look to see if your camera saves logs, then you can see if anyone else has been using it. -
With a lens calculator. http://polarisusa.com/lens-calculator You can google for more to help you decide.

If your bullet camera has IR lighting, the spiders building webs will drive you crazy. A turret or eyeball camera will be much better.
