stream cctv dvr (brand - Sunluxy) to a web page
aibudo replied to Dan321's topic in General Digital Discussion
If port 5050 is shown on the login screen, then have you port forwarded 6050 and 7050? A phone would require a "mobile" port to be opened. Dennis -
If it's saying that there is no hard-drive and it's a new dvr, then maybe there isn't any hard-drive in it. Did you take the top off and look to see? If there is a hard-drive, are both cables plugged in, in the back of it. If it's a used unit, maybe the hard-drive has failed. Dennis

A couple of questions: Are you only using one router? Have you double checked your web address again. The web address can change and is the reason for websites like DynDns. Double check your web address by going to http://whatismyip.com on a computer on the same network as the dvr. Dennis

OK, things are looking up. On your original post, you said you tried 115.xx.xx.xx:8080 If you now put that address in your browser, you say that you go to the page but don't see anything. Have you tried http://115.xx.xx.xx:8080 ? Is it any different? What does your manual say about port 8888? What does it call it? 8080 is your "http" address, but to able to get to your login page, you might need a "command" address. You may also require a "media" address to see your video. What does your owners manual say about ports to open. It should say more on ports than just the http port of 8080. If you go into the "NET" submenu of the "MAIN" menu in your dvr, Does it show anything in regard to ports? Stay with me, we'll get this thing. Dennis

Don't take this the wrong way, but have you opened it up to see if there is a HD in it? Or if both plugs are plugged in all the way? I have been getting reports of DVR's being sold as having HD's, ending up not. Otherwise, if you've had it for sometime and are just now getting that message, then more than likely it's failed. I'm a bit confused on the 8080 and 8888 ports. What ever they recommend for the http, use that and label it in the router something like DVR1. I don't want to get ahead of ourselves with more ports right now, so instead of just putting in 192.168.1.5, change it to http://192.168.1.5. If that doesn't work and you have set the http port to 8888, then use http://192.168.1.5:8888 and see what you get. What I've found in the past is that if you are using port 80, you don't have to prefix the network address with http://, but if do use a different port number, then you do. I'm sure that there may be exceptions somewhere/someplace, but that's what I've found thus far. Dennis

I'm going to try this post again. The post that I just made prior is gone. The http port is your port "8080". The address of 192.168.1.5 is the network (LAN) address. Before you concern yourself with accessing the DVR on the internet with your browser, we have to make sure you can see the DVR on the network. Before we start, change the "DHCP" setting to "STATIC". That will hold the 192.168.1.5 address and keep it from moving on the network. Maintain your port forwarding for the addresses that the DVR wanted as "8080" and "8888". I actually don't understand the "8888" at this point, but,,,, When you open your Internet Explorer browser and enter the address of 192.168.1.5, what do you get? By the way, are you only using one router on your network? Let's start here. Dennis

You're welcome. Just as a note, if you ever do that again, you can have up to 4 or 5 ports (or ranges) to open. Example: HTTP: Port 80 (or 81, 8080,etc.) - Access the DVR Command: 5050 - Acces the login page Media: 6050 - Access video on PC Mobile: 7050 - Access video on phone, etc. There are other combinations or numbers dependent upon the DVR. I don't profess to be an "expert" as I hate that term, but for all of the DVR's that I have set up (and I'm sure there's probably an exception someplace) you need at least one more port opened for the video. Sometimes there is a command port to get to the login page, but evidently you don't need that as you are in to the DVR software remotely already. I have seen two other ports that sometimes need to be forwarded. May go by other names, but "media" and "mobile". There are many variables, but surely your owners manual for within the "NET" settings in your DVR "Menu" will tell you what ports you need to forward. I wish I knew what the dvr looks like or some numbers off of it someplace to identify what it is. Dennis
-
First off, what make and model of DVR? What parts are shown in the menu (software) or manual that need to be forwarded? Second, what ports have you forwarded in your router? Third, did you download and install any ActiveX that is required? Fourth, what operating system are you using on your computer to view the video? Dennis

If I was going to replace a hard-drive in a dvr, I would start by checking the owners manual and see if they have a recommended list of HD's. If it didn't, I would have two options: One, contact the manufacurer for HD suggestions or Two, remove the original HD, check the company and model and order the same thing. As far as formatting, DVR's have a different operating system than your computer. Don't install any software on a replacement HD, before you install it. If you have an external drive adapter for the type of HD that's in the DVR, then install it in that and see what you get. Dennis

Reboot and select proper boot device or insert...DVMS 16000

I may have missed something. Did you start getting this error right out of the blue on the original hard-drive or did it start after installing a replacement hard-drive? Dennis -
stream cctv dvr (brand - Sunluxy) to a web page
aibudo replied to Dan321's topic in General Digital Discussion
I'm not acquainted with Sunluxy dvr, but that's really not important at the moment. You still have to port forward some ports even when accessing the dvr on the LAN. The general default is port 80 for the HTTP and at least one other. Sometimes port 80 is blocked by some providers and then I just use port 81. What they are is dependent upon the info in your owners manual for your model. The 5050 example was for a dvr that required a port 5050 for the command. Which allows you to get into the login page for the dvr. Yours may be entirely different, but the owners manual will tell you what the necessary ports are to forward. Dennis -
I'm not quite sure why I'm suggesting this, but,,,,,, After trying GrouchoBoucho's suggestions and if that doesn't work, go in to your router's port forwarding, leave your port 81 alone, but set another one for a port range 37777 to 37778 and selct "both" TCP/UDP. Either way, let us know what you find out. Dennis

That "yellow" jack is "composite video". Have you tried that yet? Dennis -
I'm guessing that the HD is crapping out. As far as formating, the HD must be formatted in the DVR to work in the DVR. Dennis

Maybe a "VGA" resolution compatibility issue. There are multiple resolution "mixes" with "VGA". Maybe that the one of the DVR isn't really "liked" by your television. As it was stated, you may have to settle for BNC if it is "Composite Video". You said that one of the choices is "Component". Not acquainted with the DVR, but does it have the Red, Green and Blue jacks, which is Component? Dennis -
Older DVR Connection Window and BMP/AVI save issues
aibudo replied to aibudo's topic in Digital Video Recorders
OK, found out what the problem was. UAC!!!!! Found out how to allow the specific web address/software not to be stopped by the UAC. Did this through trial and error. This is for Windows Vista: When in the internet browser, select "Internet Options". Click on the "Security" tab Click on "Trusted Sites Click on "Sites" Un-check "Require server verification...... Add the desired site (s). In my case, added two for the DVR program Click "Close" Didn't realize that this would affect the UAC, as I read on the internet where they said it wouldn't. They were wrong. Dennis -
Older DVR Connection Window and BMP/AVI save issues
aibudo posted a topic in Digital Video Recorders
Issues with older DVR saving connection changes and saving BMP and AVI: No name on the DVR. Remote software version: 5.8.002.26ENCUTAP Screen Shot of the Local Setup Window attached: Remote Software "Window" attached; Following is the HTTP Address that comes up in the "Blank" browser when accessing the DVR remotely via my DynDns address. (Have removed the part that shows my DVR address for security): hxxp://dvrlink.net/webdvr/webdvr0.0.0.0_26.0.0.0.htm?param=xxxxxxxxx.dyndns.org¶m2=¶m3=16¶m4=¶m5= The "Local Setup" connection window will allow you to enter the appropriate information to access the remote DVR, but will not save anything. You can click on the "Modify" button and then "OK", but nothing is saved. When you come back to access the DVR again, you have to enter the connection info again. Leave the window and you have to do it all over again. Also, when clicking on the "save" buttons, nothing is downloaded to your computer, either BMP or AVI. There are buttons at the bottom of the DVR "View" window for downloading "SystemPack.msi" and "LanguagePack.msi". I have downloaded the "SystemPack.msi" but haven't done anything with it. What is the "SystemPack.msi"? If anyone recognizes the Connection Window and/or the Remote Software version, I could use some help with this. Dennis -

I would like to save it. I have become to wonder if maybe there is an original CD available someplace. Either that or a software/firmware upgrade. Always hate to throw electronics away. Dennis -
