aibudo replied to Mickie808's topic in General Digital Discussion
What make is it? 8216 is a model number that several manufacturers use. -
Bad Picture with NEW swann camera problem
aibudo replied to thompy's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
500ma for each camera should be ok, but if you are using one power supply for 4 camera's, a 500ma supply for 4 camera's won't work. Minimum of 2A (2000ma) is what I would recommend. -
Incompatibility issue between old cameras and new DVR
aibudo replied to Tapioca's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
I'm pretty sure that this an AHD only DVR. If it is, the original analog camera's won't work. -

You're right on this or that is cheaper. I've been in this business a long time (right at 40 years) and just shutdown when I hear that. I purchase and market what works. And in many cases, it's not the "big names, largely promoted" that I use. I have been burnt many times with the big names. Electronics is electronics and I don't care about a "name", just a great relationship with my clients. One thing that I won't do is recommend one product over another. There are some formats that I will recommend not to use, unless you want to become a common friend with your "CCTV Expert" on your speed dial. OK, I'm done!

installing dome on sofit tips please
aibudo replied to woolz's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Great idea. He should still mount the camera on the near side (in the picture) of the light to get away from the issue with it. Or, maybe put a "diffuser" on the camera side. -
What do you get when you attempt to access his Port 80 WAN address? 404 Page, Blank Screen, etc.? Are you trying to access using a PC or phone?

You probably already have emailed them, but,,,,, E-mail:sales@techvision.cn

As long as the replacement surveillance hard-drive is compatible with the DVR, you're good to go. Install it, format it and start using it again. Now if there is a failure not related to the hard-drive, then you're probably done. As far as the longevity of hard-drives goes, I've had them fail in 2 weeks and on the other end, run 10 years or more.

Couldn't find a model DSD8 listed on the Speco website. Could this be a D8DS? There is a function within the software for some DVR's that is "IP Access", where you can enable or disable. That has to be checked as "disable". This may not be the case within his model. Also, setup manually and check "NO" for DDNS.

Installation of BNC connectors on RG59 w/pwr cable
aibudo replied to Cameratom1's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Agree totally with phillipscctv! Use the 2 piece crimp BNC's. Much, much cheaper and have never had one fail on install. Now that I've said that, I'll probably have the next one fail. -
I'm not a "major" poster and/or an engineer, but,,,, NTSC is the standard broadcast format in the United States, while PAL is the standard broadcast format in Europe. Not that Wikipedia is the ultimate source, but you might look at this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAL 960H, D1 (4CIF), 2CIF, CIF, MPEG, etc are resolution options. You can have different resolution options within NTSC and PAL. It's kind of like the difference between the US Standard (NTSC)and Metric (PAL). The are different units of measurement (resolutions) within each. Don't know if that makes any sense to you or not, but that's the best I can do right now.
-
I would guess that this doesn't have anything to do with NTSC or Pal, but of the "mode" of resolution. The HDMI output of the DVR is probably 1080 when the TV is probably only capable of 720. Just a guess on that. The VGA, the same thing. The TV may not be capable of processing the higher VGA defaulting out from the DVR.

Finally figured it out, but won't post it! Also noted, that on the Zmodo website there is no "main" manual. Just supplements for CMS, etc. I have a main manual though in .pdf.

Everyone has an opinion that is based on their personal experience. That said, all info is valuable and depends on the requirement of the system and user. IP has been a nightmare for me as someone who warrants their installs. I have discontinued IP at this time and have returned to 100% Analog/AHD/TVI wired and port forwarding anytime that the system allows it. Wireless is generally very unreliable and I won't even make a trip to service one anymore. As far as "resolution" is concerned, it once again is dependent upon reliability, requirements (distance and what you wish to see) and cost. As a dealer/installer/servicer, I try to supply a product that is as inexpensive as possible to my customers and at the same time a reliable system. And, that said, I won't ever recommend any system or company over another to someone on the net. That is a "menu" for trouble. If you follow any forum, you will find that no matter the manufacturer or type of equipment, someone has had a bad experience with it. Particularly with the newest technology that hasn't been proven yet. Just like a new computer operating system. It takes sometime, before they are reliable at all. Now that I've said all of this, I have unchecked the box "Notify me when a reply is posted" as I don't need to hear it!

video backup files show to have .dat ext. WTF
aibudo replied to TreyBear's topic in General Digital Discussion
If you want to view the files on the original drive, then reinstall it! It would also be a great help for someone on the forum to help, if you would state what make and model of DVR you are using. The ".dat" file extension isn't a video file format. What backup file choices does the DVR give you? -
Audio interference on one channel of security DVR
aibudo replied to oakspi's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Temporarily hook the camera directly to the back of the DVR and eliminate the camera cable as the issue. Switch monitor locations and see if the "crackle" is still on the long HDMI run. If it is, then it's more than likely your HDMI extender cable. -
Audio interference on one channel of security DVR
aibudo replied to oakspi's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I think that he just confirmed the fact that he didn't have audio connected for that channel. Having audio turned on in the software will give you a "hiss" in the audio. I just had one of my customers come to me for the same complaint. He inadvertently turned the audio on for one of his camera's and had a "background" hissing noise for that channel. -
Audio interference on one channel of security DVR
aibudo replied to oakspi's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Is the camera that has the crackling audio a camera that has audio built into it? If not, then turn off the audio in the DVR software for that camera. -
Logging into camera with Internet Explorer
aibudo replied to nickhik's topic in General Digital Discussion
Try not entering any password to start. Leave it blank. On a second thought on that camera, when you first access the activation software, you have to make a password of your choosing. If you don't get an activation screen, it may be the case that you got a repackaged camera that had a password made by a previous purchaser. By the way, the password has to be a minimum of 8 characters, specified in the user manual. -
Cant get different cameras working together on same DVR
aibudo replied to adamfindlay's topic in Digital Video Recorders
You do have 2 different format camera's. As with many AHD DVR's, you are limited to the channels of which camera's will work at the same time. Connect your 720P camera to Channel 1 and the standard analog camera to CH 2.
