    dvr Dead help

What make and model number? What about posting a picture, front, back, bottom and of the carton it came in?

    Problem in my CCTV

I almost always connect everything that has to do with CCTV, connected together. Multiple routers, etc. require extra "steps", formatting, etc.

    Adding sound

The one plug is for 12V power and the other is for the audio.

    Adding sound

There are numerous CCTV mikes and cameras with built-in mikes. Get a good CCTV mike (hopefully with a built in amp) and plug it in to the corresponding numbered jack as the camera you are wanting to monitor. Then make sure that the recording setting for that camera has audio enabled.
  5. I have clients with that issue and they have separate DVR's monitoring them all with one laptop (computer). Not an issue with enough bandwidth.

    Internet Bog when remote viewing

One of the systems that I monitor has 3 DVR's and 36 cameras running on Business Band Cable and with my 55MB download speed at home, I'm able to monitor all of the cameras at one time without any issue. Then again, another site that I monitor has one DVR with 16 camera's and it's rare that I can even monitor 6 of the camera's at one time. They are using a small company cable internet system and it's terrible. At times, I'm not even able to connect to the system at all.

    Internet Bog when remote viewing

My general rule of thumb is 1MB minimum upload to view 8 cameras and nothing else going on.

    Internet Bog when remote viewing

As a dealer/installer/servicer of CCTV, I had to go with 50mb+ download and 12mb+ upload to get away from viewing issues. Anything less and you get continuous "jerks/jumps/pauses" etc. Even with that, there are times when I get a pause now and then.

    Port forwarding trouble help

Well look, if you dont want to help, thats fine, just say so. But unfortunately im going to have to work this one out myself. Im not as stupid as you are making out, just need to learn more and there's only one way to do that. Thanks I don't have a dog in this pony show, but many times it's difficult to assist someone on a specific problem without getting into legal issues. I will not assist anyone who, in my opinion, may damage what they have. Particularly when it comes to making changes to a router/dvr or firmware within anything. The best people to go to for those issues, is the router or DVR manufacturer directly via "support". Forums such as this are free and if you're able to get help for a specific issue, then that's a plus, but like I said, I will only help to a point that the problem won't become worse, without being "on-site" where the equipment is physically located. When I'm paid to come to an equipment site and for some reason, you're issue become worse, then it's on me and up to me to fix it. That's a different issue on a "free help" forum. Many times it's difficult to diagnose problems over the internet as each router/dvr/etc has their own versions/software/firmware which can be entirely different with their own versions of "bugs" and issues. Shockwave199 was doing the best for what they were given and able to do.

    Night colour problem

Hey Kawboy12R, where do I buy "h264" camera's? How about MJPEG? LOL!!!! Just being funny. We learned something today!
  11. Upgrading firmware doesn't reformat the hard-drive. I'm with the previous post. DON'T do anything with firmware unless you absolutely know that it's the right one. or that DVR will be junk. Even if the firmware is right, I've seen many DVR's junked with an attempted "upgrade"!

    Dvr through internet failed

I have seen this problem with DSL before. Too complex to explain here. What I had to do, was to get the ISP tech on site to fix it. Even took the ISP tech 2 hours to get it working. Ended up having the local tech and his supervisor on site and in contact with the supervisor's boss in another city at the same time on the phone. Business DSL can be a nightmare. Advise all of my customers of this issue, before I sell them a DVR. That said, double check the firewall in the router. Possibly try a DMZ for that address. Don't advise leaving it that way, just use as a check. I'm sure that you'll get other advise for this same problem that may be in conflict with my advise.

    Problem in my CCTV

Are you entering your network (LAN) address for the DVR or the WAN address? What is the gateway and DVR network address?

You say that you have this error when attempting to login using the "software". Guessing that you are talking about a CMS system software. What happens when you try using Internet Explorer?

Setting Up DVR for remote viewing

Have run into the "out but not back in" with Frontier Business Class. You have to setup a different WAN address just for the DVR.
  16. I have installed several systems with +14 degree minimum temp requirement. We just recently went through temperature's down to -18 degrees and the camera's worked just fine. Even the DVR's in unheated buildings continued to function without incident.
  17. Most DVR's allow you to backup directly to AVI. Most also allow you to save in the h.264 format which is playable with the readily available and free VLC player. I also agree with the previous, as to why are you reformatting the HD?
  18. Still not knowing what the current draw of both the DVR and the camera's at night, there is no way to know if the load is such that you could have that problem. Anywhere around 6A or more could definitely be a problem. Make and Model of DVR? Make and Model of Camera's?
  19. What is the capacity (current handling) of the UPS? Add up the current loads of all your camera's and DVR.

    Problem in my CCTV

Just a guess at this point, but if you monitor the VGA video with a computer monitor right at the DVR, is it ok? If you use a short video cable right at the DVR to a TV, is it ok? If it only blinks on the TV at the end of the 30m cable, then it could be a loss of video amplitude at the TV. If it's only one camera blinking then possibly a camera/cable issue.
  21. That's it, you've got it! Dennis
  22. There are video splitters for HDMI, RGB/VGA and Composite Video. Really not an issue. Just "Google" and you will come up with numerous choices.

    Lines across the screen? Help!

It takes an adapter. If you have a pin coming out of the cable for the camera, then that's probably your problem.

    Lines across the screen? Help!

Disconnect the camera from the cable and temporarily connect the camera direct to the back of your DVR and see what happens. This will check a couple of things. One is a possible ground/shield issue with the cable. Plug the power supply into the same receptacle as the DVR. The 1500ma rating of the power supply is just the maximum that it can supply. You are well under that which is ok. Something else to try. If the DVR has a video out jack, disconnect the VGA cable to the monitor and connect the video out to a TV that has a video in (yellow jack for composite or green jack for component). Process of elimination will figure this out.
