  1. Tom, I installed a 2TB Hitachi HDD with 7200 rpm but the lights still blink. I tested it with several programs and the HDD appears to be working normally. Not sure what is causing the DVR to reboot and freeze. No response. Surprising how much information is on the internet that there is not much on DVR problems.
  2. tomcctv, That sounds like a plan. I will find a new HDD and add to the DVR and see if it will work. Thanks for looking at this problem. I will let you know how it works out.
  3. There were two 2TB HDD's and one 1TB HDD at the time of the failure. I am connected to the 1TB HDD now. I removed all the HDD's and all were "unallocated" at the time and I formatted them to NTFS. I copied a file to them and they ran smooth as silk.
  4. tommcctv, Looking from the rear forward there are three black heat sink-looking square components with fins center left to right. There are two blue LED's, LED 10 and 11 which blink slowly. On the far right LED's 12 and 13 are solid green when the DVR is booting up (and every time it reboots). LED 13 starts blinking a steady blink when the unit has booted up and freezes. There is a single green LED, LED 14 that stays lit. The unit was manufactured around 2012 (on the cardboard box) and has 16 channels but I have never run more than nine analog and IP cameras. I paid a king's ransom for it. DVR is connected to a PoE switch which appears to be working. Hope this description helps.
  5. I mentioned in an earlier post (yesterday) that my hybrid Dahua DVR-9116HFI-H16 "Linovision Special" DVR of 2012 is freezing on bootup and rebooting about every ten minutes to the same screen. Mouse is frozen. Power cord checked, HDD checked, mouse checked, etc. Motherboard was sent to China couple years ago when it was under warranty. It worked okay until the power went off in the neighborhood. I created a bootable USB thumb drive using Rufus with a .bin file, General_DVRxx04HX-U-NVR_Eng_PN_TVC_V2.608.0000.0.R.20120917, and two .img files, u-boot.bin and update. The Linovision agent sent me the files though I really don't know how to flash a DVR that is freezing and rebooting. The DVR generated some text files with information about the problem(s). I can't understand it. Is there anyone with Linux code skills who can tell me what the plain language problem is based on the text? It cannot be attached on this site. 6. If my post is "awaiting moderation" by the Moderator will I get a private message? Also, how do we post text documents?? Thanks. RIPE
  7. I never thought about the power adapter. I will check it and see if I have another adapter to test with. I'm also thinking the DVR needs a firmware flash. I don't have a tool to flash it with unless it can be flashed with a USB stick by booting up with the USB attached. Here is my software for flashing the firmware (in an old post on cctvforum.com): viewtopic.php?t=36656. I still have no idea how to flash it. I put all three files, one large .bin file and two .img files into a bootable .iso file on a USB flash drive and ran it at startup. So far, no luck getting it to stop rebooting and not loading the Dahua DVR program. Any suggestions are welcome. GadgetAssistant, it cannot be a "power adapter." There is a power cord to a power supply unit (PSU) inside the DVR.
  8. Is there new firmware for the Dahua DVR-9116HFI-H16? My DVR started running in a loop, rebooting every ten minutes approximately. It occurred after a house power loss but the DVR was plugged into an UPS. I've removed the cmos battery, checked the HDD's, connectors, etc. but nothing has helped. Was thinking maybe the DVR needs firmware.... Anyway, if anyone has an idea I sure would appreciate it. Thank you! Mike
  9. Happy Father's Day. My DVR has been down for a few weeks. It started rebooting to a screen with CAM 1-16 and CAM 17-23 windows appearing. Mouse cursor is unresponsive. It reboots after about ten minutes. I removed the HDD's and cleaned the inside of the box. I checked the HDD's and they all appear normal with no clicks (they run smooth) and all are formatted with NTFS. I removed the CMOS battery and reinstalled it. We did have a strong one-second power outage the day that the DVR started rebooting. It was plugged into an UPS though. Is the DVR is toast or just stuck in a loop? Thanks, Mike

CAT5e Suspended 17.5' in the Woods

Thank you for the reply. It has been about 2-3 years since installation and the analog cameras worked most of the time as did the IP cameras. Squirrels gnawed on some of the ethernet cable where it was connected to trees. Amazon sells rodent-proof cable but it is expensive. Is the direct burial cable compromised if the inner cloth cover around the four twisted pair is wet? Was thinking of replacing or patching the cables but it is quite a tough job running cable 18' feet up in the air through heavy brush and trees. The wire rope has held up okay with only one length of cable sagging - requiring another tree to attach to and reduce the strain.

    Dahua IP Camera Banned

I've seen it everywhere: Web Service (Dahua), PSS, DVR monitor, and Config Tool. The problem prevents access to configuration. I haven't checked it lately. It may be the same camera that populates in Remote Devices but only works if you Add it to the list below as an ONVIF device and not by its IP address. I set up my cameras with static addresses. They are stable today. We'll see what happens down the road.

    Dahua IP Camera Banned

The message to that camera was this account is blacklisted or denied because that IP is blacklisted. I don't see it anymore. Through a series of configuration changes it has gone away. Maybe it will return. I'm still trying to get the ASUS RT-N66R router to work properly and had to upgrade my modem, internet speed, and some indoor cabling. I have about 6-7 IP cameras to port-forward which is a royal pain.
  13. This is not a complete explanation but I will edit as I remember what I did to make it work. Dahua software requires all ActiveX Security in IE11 be disabled (i.e. enabled). Download all of the versions of ActiveX from Bahama Security and have them unzipped. Why? You don't know for sure which version your camera will use. When you open a camera in IE11 with your static IP of 192.168.1.1XX (or whatever, e.g. http://192.168.1.119:377XX) Web Service 3.0 will open and you will be prompted to run QuickTime which you should reject. That is the problem. Now the secret. Add IP address 192.168.1.1XX into the compatibility box in IE11. No more prompts for QuickTime if it works like it did for me. Video works, PTZ controls work, etc. If this changes I will update this information. Edit: The process above did not work on the local port 377XX but DID work on the remote port 40XX.
  14. All, I have 3 Dahua 2MP IP bullet cameras and one of them has been banned. I assume it is my ISP or Dahua. I can't configure it with a static IP address. I think it works with Onvif and 9988. I came home from a long trip and found the cameras misconfigured. Not sure how to get the camera off the banned list. Thanks in advance for any ideas, theories, or guesses.
  15. Anyone have any ideas for connecting cameras to an old Gateway model MA6 running Windows 7 Ultimate? It networks good and I can see it with Teamviewer. Was wondering how to connect a couple of cameras to it to watch a condo while I'm gone. Or if that is even a good idea. Thanks for any ideas. Hopefully, some cheap cameras will work.
