Recently bought a PTZ camera from Empire. I asked them about a pole mount. The lady wanted a picture of a pole mount!!! She says no problem just send me a picture of the pole mount. Empire is the USA distributor for Dahua, Inc. I asked them what is the status of the pole mount. I get three word emails back from them. That after buying a $1,050 camera!!! I have a deadline. They don't give rat's -ss. That's how they do business in North Carolina. EDIT: See last post. Empire came through just in time with a Dahua PTZ pole mount before the cold weather sets in where I live. It is a great camera and the price cannot be matched.

Does anyone know of a company on the planet that has a Dahua PTZ pole mount in supply? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Maybe they are a great camera store. All I know is my own experience. The camera came fast. If I don't get the pole mount the camera is going back fast. They are the distributors for Dahua. Does that mean they have a line of communication with Dahua and a special relationship based on sales / profits? I just want to see a pole mount so I can mount my PTZ.

MindTwist, very good. Thank you. It doesn't include the instructions but another hour of digging and I might find it. Why are the oriental vendors so secretive about their primitive camera software? My real question is, after this (or if this) software bricks my DVR.... will the vendor honor the one year warranty? Do they understand the term RMA? If not then someone should be building these security toys a little closer to home. India? No! Russia? Yes. Attaching the instructions in an IMAGE file (cats out of the bag). Now you've got the whole bag of wax, I hope. To open click the picture and then the full screen button that will magically appear. EDIT: The purpose of this software may be to restore a DVR that is completely hosed up as opposed to just needing a fix. The jury is still out. EDIT: Dahua DVR Upgrade tool 1.16 upgraded the BIOS per the attached instructions but channel 17 is still the only channel that I can add an IP camera to. The vendor will fix or swap the motherboard out; I pay for delivery to China and vendor pays for delivery back to me.

Sorry for the delay. I'm working on getting my wife to turn on the laptop so I can access it with Teamviewer. Okay, I see the Prolific serial port and (COMM 5) in Device Manager. Under Advanced it says 9600 bits per second. Not sure if that was important to know using NCOM. The screen showed 11XXX BPS and Port 1. Maybe it should have been set to 9600 and Port 5. I could be way off on this though. Just speculation.

I have the DVR problem mentioned on this site many times. The vendor said to go out and buy an RS-232 to USB cable so I went to Amazon. The Dahua DVR has male pins sticking out so I needed a female serial DB9 RS232 cable. I opted for a male serial DB9 RS232 cable and a female to female coupler. Okay, so far so good. Plugged the serial cable into the DVR and the USB end into my laptop. I opened the NCOM program and waited for the, "Hit any button to stop boot process." There was never a message and I could never get into DEBUG mode. The DVR kept booting completely. Anyone ever get a DVR into "debug mode" and how did you do it? Thanks in advance. The vendor didn’t offer any answer. Then the vendor sent me the firmware and a tool. The second file is a .img file that would not open. The third file is an .img file and content were opened with 7zip and a picture of contents is attached. Not to make too big a deal of this DVR/Security Camera fetish but can anyone identify the files in the pictures I attached and what they do? If so thank you. A friend told me to create a new account and password. I did it and when I could not log into my Dahua DVR I went to the new account and used the password I set up and I was in. It is a backup that will save your azz when the machine does what machines will do. Anyone know how to upgrade the firmware for a Dahua DVR? I have the firmware and instruction that I cannot understand. Thanks. Hope you got the password somehow. Have you tried six zero's? Just a shot in the dark....

Anyone ever seen or heard of RECUpgrade Ver1.15 (2003) also known as REC Net Upgrad?? This is the tool I am suppose to use to upgrade my firmware on a Dahua DVR. PDF and DOCX files were not allowed in this post and the limit for images was only three images per post. Yeah... here is 3 of 4 pages? " title="Applause" /> This is "the tool" I am supposed to use to upgrade my DVR firmware. Where it is located is unknown. Maybe it runs on my laptop and that is how the firmware is upgraded. Dahua hybrid DVR-9116HFI-H16 sold by Linovision directly from China ( http://www.linovision.com/en/products/dvr-nvr/hybrid-dvr/dvr-9100hfi-hx.html). IP cameras can be logged into and viewed with Web Service 3.0. DVR can be logged into and viewed with Web Service 2.0. One IP camera shows up on channel 17 but no other cameras can be added because Encode in the DVR Config is grayed out. The real issue is how to add firmware and fix the DVR encode problem so all IP cameras will display on DVR and monitor in channels 17-32. Vendor supplied the firmware he is willing to replace the DVR if the firmware does not fix the problem or bricks the DVR. Expense of shipping the $728 DVR back to China are the last resort. Vendor said only .bin file is necessary. A knowledgable cctvforum member said solution was (see below): "To apply the firmware put the image file (it will prob be something like "kernel.img") into the root of the thumb drive, (take it out of any folders or zips it might be in).You may have two USB ports in the DVR one may be USB back up put the thumb drive in there switch the DVR on wait till it does its thing switch DVR off take thumb drive out reboot DVR, if your lucky away it will go all fixed." I just need a second opinion on that. I see an "update.img" and a "uboot.img" and a "General_DVRxx04HX-U-NVR_Eng_PN_TVC_V2.608.0000.0.R.20120917.bin." If the solution is to place all into root of the USB thumb drive and start the DVR then MAYBE its that easy.

Final Verdict: Toss is the prick.

I use 4" PVC pipe and 4" PVC cap. The cap holds all the wires. A 3/4" hole for in the bottom of the cap for the cable taped and sealed shut works fine. Mine are in the woods on trees and painted camo. Has worked so far in the summer and through very rainy season.

Was everyone going to keep the DSD website "secret" (see p.1)? Thanks Kawboy for saving the day and not being a DxCK. We've talked before about takers. I don't think it is a crime to help other people on this forum. At least not yet.

Any technicians on the forum know how to connect computer to DVR for remote access to a Dahua hybrid DVR with a ZyXEL managed switch. I think there are some YouTube videos but they are kind of vague. I think the idea is to have a static IP address that will never change when your internet service provider changes it. I think it is on the WAN side of the router but I could be wrong. I hear that the cameras can be controlled remotely. Is there a down and dirty on accomplishing this task?

You should know you need a lot of bandwidth for IP cameras and a processor and video processor that can display everything. I use CAT5e but I might have gone with CAT 6 even though its lots of wires coming into the house. I'm a DIY'er too and got my start here. The networkcameracritic dot com reviewed the Dahua (NVR3216) 16 channel system. I would check out his review. I made the mistake of buying an expensive Dahua DVR that does not have the power to display IP cameras. I can see my eight cameras, 4 IR bullet, 3 2.0MP IP cameras (Dahua), and one 1.3MP network speed dome with the Dahua PSS software on my ASUS G73S laptop which is a gaming machine. It uses less power than my desktop. I also use an eight port, four PoE and four PoE plus switch made by ZyXEL (all my specs are mentioned in my post above and elsewhere here) with great success. The analog cameras was the other mistake - the pictures are poor (outdoor) compared to the IP cameras. I weather-proofed my cameras as best I could from rain and debris and ran CAT5e to the IP cameras and CAT5e to the analog cameras with balun on each end and wall warts. The speed dome required a wall wart and CAT5e to get it functioning. I still have an issue with alarms not set up yet and camera LED lights staying on all night but it is one step at a time. I started with only rudimentary knowledge of computers and very little knowledge of networking. I could still use some help but with over $5K into the project we busted the budget about $3K ago. I also suspended my CAT5e with black vinyl covered wire rope (1/8th" inch) from tree to tree in a forested area 18 feet in the air. In my case, the problem lives next door so the cameras are a stop gap measure until nature takes its course or the Navy transfers him.

jeromephone, Does the power problem occur even using PoE plus ports from the switch? I know we we couldn't get one camera to display at a certain distance that was out about 300 plus feet. I pulled it in about 25 feet and it displayed without a problem. I was going to double-check it again at the original distance but didn't have the time. I was going from tree to tree and attaching cameras at almost 18 feet on a ladder.

wkearney99 and SectorSecurity, Thank you very much for your replies. I used CAT5e direct burial (without gel) for cable. The switch has four regular PoE ports and four PoE plus ports. The switch will negotiate with the IP camera how much power it requires and then supply it. What I find interesting is the instuctions in the ZyXEL manual that warn not to run cable outdoors from the switch. Wonder if the Chinese are suggesting thunder and lightening might be an issue. Wonder if there should be grounds per the DVR instructions. So far the cameras are powered sufficiently. I do have a question. How do I get the LED lights to shut off at night? It would be unfortunate to burn the LED's out before their lifespan. It is probably just a matter of setting up motion alarm and activating it. Is that the solution and can it be done through software or will the CAT5e have to be connected to the DVR alarm? I have four other cameras that are analog and go directly into the hybrid DVR (Dahua). I guess the analog camera would have to be connected to the DVR to activate the motion detection. I've got them powered with wall warts at present. Also, does anyone have a method of keeping spiders away from cameras during the summer? Thank you one and all for your help. Do I need the Premium Access Account to download files from bahamassecurity? Is there that much information? Are there firmware updates from Dahua for newer DVR's? I will pay the $20.00 if I have to but the commercial internet and the nickel-and-diming that goes on is too Micro$oft. Hence, IPVM which makes basic information accessible if you have the money. Just my humble opinion.

I've never set up cameras in my life. I need to set up cameras in my backyard to catch the thief who is stealing Leyland Cyprus trees I planted and trespassing. If the cameras don't work an M4 and suppressor will. I bought four analog bullet cameras, SB-620SID240, three IP bullet cameras, IPC-VEC8253NF-EI, one 1.3MP PTZ camera, SD6980-HIN, and one hybrid DVR, DVR-9116HFI-H16 (equivalent to the EH-16RTHD-1T/2T hybrid standalone DVR). All the IP equipment is Dahua which I have not received yet. I have no idea how to power them; if it will be self-evident or Murphy's Law (always harder than you think). I want to use CAT5. The farthest run will be 300 feet and it is a one acre forest in complete darkness. What else should I look at buying such as: 1. Cable and connectors 2. RS485 for the PTZ camera 3. Some way to power the cameras 4. Vendors don't show the back of the DVR - any good sources for what is back there? 5. Brackets for trees Do I need a switch and if so how many PoE ports for 4/8 cameras? Should I use any kind of PVC to protect cable? Will there be cross-talk if I bundle the CAT5 together? Should I set up some other kind of light in the dark or will the IR LED's be okay? I need to save money on this project. Thanks for any help. I need to power 4 IR analog cameras. I want to use a TP-Link L-PoE10R Poe Splitter from my PoE switch. A splitter basically has a CAT5 RJ45 with a male DC plug to plug into the camera. Need an adapter at the camera end to turn it from PoE power(48v variable) to standard 12v DC power. One idea was a 2A 12V regulated wall wart with a barrel connector and a four way power splitter? Is it a better idea than a TP-Link Splitter? How do the power/video/audio balun pigtail connect to the camera? Question: What to buy that connects to the BNC and green connector on this IR camera to have the splitter and/or a balun. Thanks!

What power connector to use to connect four IR cameras to a 12V wall wart for camera above. Just connect RJ45 wires for power, data, audio, alarms to the green connector? I think the question was answered and I will revisit a previous post. I would rather connect four IR cameras to four PoE splitters from the PoE switch to take the power to 12V. Switch is a 802.3at PoE switch with four stardard PoE ports and four ports up to 30W each. Can it be done or is there a better way?
