  1. Anyone know how this tool is used? It upgrades firmware on a Dahua DVR from your laptop or does it? The best I could do was convert the .pdf file into 3 of 4 .jpg files. That is the limit per post and document files are not permitted on site. " title="Applause" /> If you were going to pick a location for this program where would it be and would you run it on a laptop? See below: - General_DVRxx04HX-U-NVR_Eng_PN_TVC_V2.608.0000.0.R.20120917 (VLC media file .bin) 13,586 KB - u-boot.bin (disc image file) 173 KB EDIT: Vendor sent Dahua DVR Upgrade tool 1.16 which updated the BIOS per the instructions; it didn't fix the channel problem and the motherboard is being sent back to be fixed or replaced. My expense to send and vendor's expense to return motherboard.
  2. I have a problem with my Dahua hybrid DVR-9116HFI-H16. All cameras and DVR are able to connect outside of network via my external IP address : xx.xxx.xx.xxx:http port. When configuring the cameras to the DVR with the remote device setting only channel 17 is able to be configured and make a connection. Channel 18-36 are unable to be configured. In the encode settings for cameras 18-32 DVR does not show any changeable settings. In other words, only channel 17 can be displayed on the monitor. I have the firmware from the vendor but few instructions that I understand. I tried to connect to RS232 to find the port with NCOM but cannot stop DVR from rebooting. Vendor provided firmware. I want to apply the firmware and want to know if anyone knows how to apply the firmware without bricking the DVR. I would like to use a thumb drive if possible. Here is a list of the files in the 9100HFI-HX NTSC eng .rar archive: - General_DVRxx04HX-U-NVR_Eng_PN_TVC_V2.608.0000.0.R.20120917 (VLC media file .bin) 13,586 KB - u-boot.bin (disc image file) 173 KB - update (disc image file) 13,417 Assume that I know nothing about these files or the procedures to add firmware to the DVR.
  3. If my post is "awaiting moderation" by the Moderator will I get a private message? Also, how do we post text documents?? Thanks. RIPE
  4. Happy Father's Day. My DVR has been down for a few weeks. It started rebooting to a screen with CAM 1-16 and CAM 17-23 windows appearing. Mouse cursor is unresponsive. It reboots after about ten minutes. I removed the HDD's and cleaned the inside of the box. I checked the HDD's and they all appear normal with no clicks (they run smooth) and all are formatted with NTFS. I removed the CMOS battery and reinstalled it. We did have a strong one-second power outage the day that the DVR started rebooting. It was plugged into an UPS though. Is the DVR is toast or just stuck in a loop? Thanks, Mike
  5. Tom, I installed a 2TB Hitachi HDD with 7200 rpm but the lights still blink. I tested it with several programs and the HDD appears to be working normally. Not sure what is causing the DVR to reboot and freeze. No response. Surprising how much information is on the internet that there is not much on DVR problems.
  6. tomcctv, That sounds like a plan. I will find a new HDD and add to the DVR and see if it will work. Thanks for looking at this problem. I will let you know how it works out.
  7. There were two 2TB HDD's and one 1TB HDD at the time of the failure. I am connected to the 1TB HDD now. I removed all the HDD's and all were "unallocated" at the time and I formatted them to NTFS. I copied a file to them and they ran smooth as silk.
  8. tommcctv, Looking from the rear forward there are three black heat sink-looking square components with fins center left to right. There are two blue LED's, LED 10 and 11 which blink slowly. On the far right LED's 12 and 13 are solid green when the DVR is booting up (and every time it reboots). LED 13 starts blinking a steady blink when the unit has booted up and freezes. There is a single green LED, LED 14 that stays lit. The unit was manufactured around 2012 (on the cardboard box) and has 16 channels but I have never run more than nine analog and IP cameras. I paid a king's ransom for it. DVR is connected to a PoE switch which appears to be working. Hope this description helps.
  9. I mentioned in an earlier post (yesterday) that my hybrid Dahua DVR-9116HFI-H16 "Linovision Special" DVR of 2012 is freezing on bootup and rebooting about every ten minutes to the same screen. Mouse is frozen. Power cord checked, HDD checked, mouse checked, etc. Motherboard was sent to China couple years ago when it was under warranty. It worked okay until the power went off in the neighborhood. I created a bootable USB thumb drive using Rufus with a .bin file, General_DVRxx04HX-U-NVR_Eng_PN_TVC_V2.608.0000.0.R.20120917, and two .img files, u-boot.bin and update. The Linovision agent sent me the files though I really don't know how to flash a DVR that is freezing and rebooting. The DVR generated some text files with information about the problem(s). I can't understand it. Is there anyone with Linux code skills who can tell me what the plain language problem is based on the text? It cannot be attached on this site. Moderator is unreachable as of Monday, 19 Jun 2017.
  10. I never thought about the power adapter. I will check it and see if I have another adapter to test with. I'm also thinking the DVR needs a firmware flash. I don't have a tool to flash it with unless it can be flashed with a USB stick by booting up with the USB attached. Here is my software for flashing the firmware (in an old post on cctvforum.com): viewtopic.php?t=36656. I still have no idea how to flash it. I put all three files, one large .bin file and two .img files into a bootable .iso file on a USB flash drive and ran it at startup. So far, no luck getting it to stop rebooting and not loading the Dahua DVR program. Any suggestions are welcome. GadgetAssistant, it cannot be a "power adapter." There is a power cord to a power supply unit (PSU) inside the DVR.
  11. Is there new firmware for the Dahua DVR-9116HFI-H16? My DVR started running in a loop, rebooting every ten minutes approximately. It occurred after a house power loss but the DVR was plugged into an UPS. I've removed the cmos battery, checked the HDD's, connectors, etc. but nothing has helped. Was thinking maybe the DVR needs firmware.... Anyway, if anyone has an idea I sure would appreciate it. Thank you! Mike

CAT5e Suspended 17.5' in the Woods

Thank you for the reply. It has been about 2-3 years since installation and the analog cameras worked most of the time as did the IP cameras. Squirrels gnawed on some of the ethernet cable where it was connected to trees. Amazon sells rodent-proof cable but it is expensive. Is the direct burial cable compromised if the inner cloth cover around the four twisted pair is wet? Was thinking of replacing or patching the cables but it is quite a tough job running cable 18' feet up in the air through heavy brush and trees. The wire rope has held up okay with only one length of cable sagging - requiring another tree to attach to and reduce the strain.
  13. Here is the result of the project I started many months back with a 16 channel Dahua hybrid DVR (9116HFI-H16z), 4 IR bullet cameras (SB-700SID540), 3 Dahua 2MP bullet cameras (IPC-VEC8253NF-EI), 1 1.3MP HD Network IR Speed DomePTZ (PTZ-HD6980C) and a ZyXEL 8 port, layer 2, managed gigabit PoE switch (GS2200-8HP)::: The project mission was designed to protect a rectangular treed lot, 300’ plus boundary line separated with a privacy fence from trespass by a toxic neighbor on one side and a less toxic neighbor on the other side. CAT5e was suspended in the air from the house to the end of the lot from tree to tree which was roughly 350’. I used 1000’ of black vinyl coated aircraft cable 1/8” in 2 trunk lines in the back and 1 trunk line in the front. It was connected to trees with 3 ¾” open screw hooks using aluminum sleeves to create loops on the wire rope for each 40’-60’ run. CAT5e direct underground burial was attached to the wire rope with electrical ties to each camera. No distance problems for the IR cameras with baluns to the DVR. They work as well as an IR camera can work. The IP megapixel cameras probably had a distance limitation but I did not double check that issue. The IP cameras were connected to a ZyXEL 8-port managed switch with four POE+ ports. They produced a beautiful picture. The PTZ camera was attached to a 3” pole with a plywood overhead to protect from radiant heat and strong rain. For the bullet cameras I used 4” PVC with a 4” PVC cap as weather enclosures attached to 1”x 6” lumber with two 6”-7” hose clamps with one large lag screw and washer in the wood to attach to the tree. White PVC was camouflaged with flat gray primer and brown paint and everything else was coated with liquid tape or primer. Camera cables fit tightly in the PVC cap and the CAT5e ran out through a ¾” drilled hole on the bottom of each cap. Each hole was covered with strapping tape and sprayed with Rust-Oleum Leak Seal flexible rubber coating. So far I can only get the IR cameras to work on the DVR. I tried to add the IP cameras through the Web v.2.0 Dahua software but the DVR dropped the display even when I reduced the IP cameras to D1, 15 FPS, 1280 Bit Rate (Kb/S), and extra stream disabled. Do I need a different DVR or maybe an NVR?? I can see all of the cameras on my laptop with the Dahua PSS software, Web v.3.0 but would prefer that the DVR do all recording and display (as it should). I need my laptop for other uses. If anyone has a solution that is cheap I could use the help. I have Teamviewer and can let you remote into my laptop to try to configure it. I would also like to have remote access as my wife will be here by herself. I have assigned a static IP address to each IP camera, the DVR, and the ZyXEL switch. Turning off the IR lights, setting up alarms, and getting remote access are my big issues. I am not good at networking. If you think you can help please contact me at guidecca@hotmail.com or call or text me in the U.S. at 757-202-7722. Thanks.

    Dahua IP Camera Banned

I've seen it everywhere: Web Service (Dahua), PSS, DVR monitor, and Config Tool. The problem prevents access to configuration. I haven't checked it lately. It may be the same camera that populates in Remote Devices but only works if you Add it to the list below as an ONVIF device and not by its IP address. I set up my cameras with static addresses. They are stable today. We'll see what happens down the road.
  15. All, I have 3 Dahua 2MP IP bullet cameras and one of them has been banned. I assume it is my ISP or Dahua. I can't configure it with a static IP address. I think it works with Onvif and 9988. I came home from a long trip and found the cameras misconfigured. Not sure how to get the camera off the banned list. Thanks in advance for any ideas, theories, or guesses.

    Dahua IP Camera Banned

The message to that camera was this account is blacklisted or denied because that IP is blacklisted. I don't see it anymore. Through a series of configuration changes it has gone away. Maybe it will return. I'm still trying to get the ASUS RT-N66R router to work properly and had to upgrade my modem, internet speed, and some indoor cabling. I have about 6-7 IP cameras to port-forward which is a royal pain.
  17. This is not a complete explanation but I will edit as I remember what I did to make it work. Dahua software requires all ActiveX Security in IE11 be disabled (i.e. enabled). Download all of the versions of ActiveX from Bahama Security and have them unzipped. Why? You don't know for sure which version your camera will use. When you open a camera in IE11 with your static IP of 192.168.1.1XX (or whatever, e.g. http://192.168.1.119:377XX) Web Service 3.0 will open and you will be prompted to run QuickTime which you should reject. That is the problem. Now the secret. Add IP address 192.168.1.1XX into the compatibility box in IE11. No more prompts for QuickTime if it works like it did for me. Video works, PTZ controls work, etc. If this changes I will update this information. Edit: The process above did not work on the local port 377XX but DID work on the remote port 40XX.
  18. Anyone have any ideas for connecting cameras to an old Gateway model MA6 running Windows 7 Ultimate? It networks good and I can see it with Teamviewer. Was wondering how to connect a couple of cameras to it to watch a condo while I'm gone. Or if that is even a good idea. Thanks for any ideas. Hopefully, some cheap cameras will work.
  19. So find out what the input for the DVR and run audio cable like this stuff on Amazon: amazon.com/gp/product/B006VQATDK/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to the microphone. I shoot pictures of my neighbor. He goes out and buys a nylon vertical shoulder holster for a .38/.357 and two speed loaders. Getting neighbors to live on their property and stay off my property is a challenge. This (relatively) new neighbor is a military chaplain and he thinks he owns the subdivision.
  20. What do I need to set up an external microphone so that I can hear it in the house? I have a Dahua Hybrid 16 channel DVR. None of my cameras are close to the location I need the microphone to be placed. Please list parts either generically, individually, or as a kit. My budget is limited. Thanks CCTV Forum member in advance. Assume I know nothing.

    Need help identifying a camera

You tough guys don't know what your're talking about. There are two sides to every story. Who knows why he put it up? Its not illegal unless the City ordinances say it is illegal. You would put every business owner in town out of business and most of law enforcement by restricting camera use. He is doing her a favor in case a real criminal shows up there. He doesn't have to warn anyone. If she has a beef with him, which she obviously does, there is a reason for it. Is she stealing stuff? Is she a slacker getting paid withl taxpayer dollars and working one day a week? Have her put up her own camera if she is concerned. The rest of these jokers don't know what they are talking about unless their City laws are different than mine.
  22. The Ative X version for my DVR is 3.0.0.1 according to the Bahama Active X finder for my WAN address. They only offer 3.0.0.00 which is off. Is the 3.0.0.1 some kind of vunerability glitch???? I can't get past the login screen in IE. I can get into the preview mode in Google Chrome but can't see the cameras in Live mode. I can get into Setup and see every camera by number. How do I configure my computer to view cameras remotely in Web Service from a remote location. I've tried software from Bahama. I give up. PSS works fine. I should be able to see the cameras in Web Service but I don't think I have the right version of Web Service or maybe Active X. Any help is appreciated.
  23. Shockwave199, Thanks for all the ideas and for sticking to it. The port is static to the WAN and the TCP is still 37777 on the LAN. I typed "internet explorer" in the run box and I only get two choices the IE64 and IE with addins. I assume the plain IE is x86 but when I tried to add IE v.9 (86) from Micro$oft I got the "wrong version" prompt. I downloaded IE8 and IE8 64 and they gave me a "this program is not supported by this operating system." (cctvforum webmaster the pages are unstable) Start over with the second half - I copied the paragraph above for problems like this. I changed the Active X boxes (3) to prompt and the compatibility mode gives me a box to add a program so I added the WAN address. I deleted the webrec in Program Files. So, (that said) maybe not having three IE options is a glitch (the cross I must bear). PSS is a better program but because I had Web Services running before I kind of expect to get it running again without wiping my computer. Its definitely not worth that. Thanks, you've helped a lot. If you have any more gems of advice or a silver bullet post again. Thanks Shock. EDIT EDIT EDIT The solution was to download IE 11, use the plain internet explorer as administrator, and change the three Active X boxes to prompt. Not sure if all are necessary but that is what got Web Service working again. I used Revo Uninstaller and got rid of two Active X programs - so that was also one of the ingredients. Success at Last. Thank god I'm free at last. Time for a cuppa.
  24. Does it make any difference that I can't ping my WAN IP address? I can see that cameras in Chrome in Setup/Layout, I just can't see them in Live. In IE it prompts me if I use the wrong password. Still, with everything deleted IE 64 shows nothing. Maybe do a repair with Windows 7 disk and see if all system files are lined up like little ducks in a row. Seems like I should be able to ping the WAN.
  25. IE doesn't even login. Some "Packet" downloads from the internet (webrec) and then nothing happens. The computer previously worked with version 2.0 and version 3.0. After downloading software from Bahama Security those versions did not work. PSS works finally. There was a firmware upgrade to the DVR that was completed successfully. I am not home and cannot see the cameras with Web Service. Chrome gets past the login screen, shows all cameras with a "no symbol" icon beside cameras 1-32, and even opens each camera in Setup, Layout by number. In Live view the Quicktime "Q of Death" pops up and then stops. There is no malware according to Malwarebytes Pro. This is a simple matter of not having the right software or not having the right software configured properly. I give up on it. I use the correct WAN address and port number for http access from a remote IP. The DVR is a DAHUA hybrid and displays analog and digital cameras. I can't even log into the cameras with Web Service. PSS has no trouble. My Android cell phone program (3rd Party) has no problem. So life could be worse. I'll go to a cyber cafe and use a different computer and see for myself if the network works and my computer is hosed up.
