Thanks for the reply and confirms my suspicions.... Its definitely a warning sound not a HD sound.. Me is thinking mainboard failure and time for a new DVR .

Hi all. We have had the above DVR for around 2 years now and when i came in this morning i noticed it wasn't writing to the HDD. Happens occasionally.... SO i rebooted it like i always do, only it wouldn't come back on, so i removed the power and left for a couple of mins. Then when i replaced the power all i got was a continuous high pitched noise and no lights... Nothing. Not feeling very hopeful about this one, but any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
