need a camera to watch a bar register

not of cameras... of audio recording. most areas, it's a different law entirely. some places, video recording is legal with no signs required, while audio recording is illegal without a federal warrant. audio recording laws are probably more varied and strict than video recording laws. so before you worry about the capability, make sure it's legal first. of the ip models, the ipc-hdb3110 is the only one i'd expect to fit the bill. my experience with the hd2100 is that it's not great in low light; the hdb-3200c has even poorer low-light specs. the 3110 is the only one of the three that's tdn with a proper day/night mode that greatly improves your low-light sensitivity. never thought about the audio, thanks for the advice. both you guys have shed some more light on the subject for me and i appreciate it greatly. now some more thinking

need a camera to watch a bar register

i knew i screwed something in that post up, never thought to check the connections of the first two. yes i know they're ip cameras. yes i know about the legality of the camera system, the business already has camera signs in place. just want to know opinions on thge cameras recording in that environment with concerns about detail and quality with the light levels. thanx.
  3. ceiling height is 9' register sits 40" off the ground looking for a dome camera with audio record function light level is low, but not pitch black. roughly about 200 lux/sq. m. i'm looking at these camera models: dahua hdb3200 dahua hdbw3200 dahua hdb3200c dahua hd2100 dahua hdb3110 which one would work the best out of these, or can you recommend another cheap camera? 24/7 recording use. thanx guys.

    cameras with tinted domes?

thanx for the response. doing a system for a friends bar and he wants smoked domes and was looking for a reason to convince him otherwise. the camera will be mounted @ 9' above the register which sits @ 40" from the ground. with a 1.3MP camera i told him he'd be able to drill down and read a drivers license laying on the register, he wanted more. was looking at using dahua hd2100's in this application, any suggestions otherwise?
  5. i've seen them in the casino's all the time, but i haven't been able to find any myself. can they be had, and if so, what are the draw backs?
  6. i was pulling the specs right from their website but never looked to see if there were any firmware updates to change those specs. maybe its what i need afterall. i'm mostly concerned that the 2mp outside camera will be recorded at the highest quality so that during playback i can drill down and catch a liscence plate at roughly 60-75 feet away. i know that depends alot on the camera but i need to make sure the nvr doesn't impede that. the camera i'm looking to use is the dahua SD6582/82A-HN in a parking lot that only has a single street light in it on the extreme right side. the lot is about 100 feet wide by 180 feet deep and can hold roughly 100 cars if people park correctly. am i on the right track here?
  7. thought the dahua 16 channel was going to be a perfect fit for my design, but after seeing that it'll only accept 4 1080p or 8720p cameras, it's not enough. so where it stands, i need an nvr that'll record 9 720p cameras to start with and allow another 7 cameras as finances permit. i obviously want to keep things as cheap as possible, but i don't want to skimp on options either. i have a mix of 8 1.3mp cams with audio pickup and one 2mp ptz cam for outside. all help appreciated.

can i build a system and get pos overlay?

the output is rs232, but its on a POS hybrid register that was discontinued last year. its a sharp up-810f register with an rs232 printer output that i saw most overlay products exploit to get the data out of, but none of those overlay products i found had ethernet for an ip system. i did find 2 systems that would do the overlay over ip systems, but they were a complete setup that is way out of the price range i have to work with.
  9. i've been all over hell and high water trying to find a POS overlay module for a system i want to build myself. i've read a lot here on the forum and have come up with a modestly priced NVR system with 9 cameras for a friends business, but i can't seem to find a solution to integrate the POS into the video like he wants. everything that i've found is made by a specific manufacturer and is proprietory. can i build a PoE system using a combination of axis/dahua cameras and a dahua NVR and integrate overlay? any help is appreciated.
