  1. Hope this is the right place. I'm looking to replace my 15 year old B&W 4 camera system. The current setup has microphones built-in, a quad-capable monitor, and uses cat3 wiring (6 leads). We use it to watch the front door, kids playing in basement or backyard. Low quality, but serves its purpose well. Would like to get an 8-channel color system, indoor/outdoor, with 4-8 cameras and at least 2 microphones (or 8 cameras with built-in mics if possible), some level of night vision, with network and view from any computer or smartphone capability. A DVR would be optional, but they all seem to come with that. Longest run is about 60 feet. Looks as though will probably have to re-wire, everything seems to be BNC now. Have looked at Costco & Sams Club (where I bought previous unit), and a few other places, but it looks as though built-in audio has gone away. Preference would be an all-in-one, out of the box system. Don't need professional grade anything, just a respectable home use system. Want to know when someone is coming to the door or where the kids are. Won't need to identify anyone in a line up or anything. I'm guessing the 400+ line cameras will be more than adequate. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thx.
