Question 1 - You can add 4,5 or 6 Geovision IP cameras to your system without having to purchase an IP license. Geovision allows you to add up to 8 of their IP cams without a license for 32 cameras total. You can even take 2 of your analog and replace with IP's if needed without a license. Question 2 - Any number of 3rd party IP cams require a license. When you receive the dongle, it will be marked with the number of cam licenses it supports. With your existing 26 cam system, you can add up to 6 more 3rd party IP cams.

Baluns are basically a transformer that allows you to match a balanced line to an unbalanced one (Cat5 to coax). Video is easily carried by UTP. Max distance of coax depends on construction of the cable itself, material, core, etc. I've read specs that they can use it to 650 feet (200 meters) but I've personally never come close to that distance or would I want to.

400 meters is a bit far for RG59. I would look at cat5/6 with baluns. Be cheaper and gives you the option of upgrading to IP's in the future. The camera recommendations will require more info such as how much area you need to cover, distances, etc. Floodlighting the area will definitely open up your possibilities, though.

That is a 3 meter (10 foot) consideration but as it'll be mounted on the 2nd story, as you said, it shouldn't be an issue. Also, if you have adequate lighting, you can disable the black & white if needed.

Can't say about the temperature aspects but if you plan on capturing any kind of motion with this camera (other than a snail that fell asleep half way thru the image area) you'll be disappointed. Do a search of this forum on Speco Intensifier for thoughts and opinions.

A question with a lot of particulars. In affect you can run up to 32 cameras total. How many analog cameras are you using? If it's 16 you can add up to 8 Geovision IP cameras license free and 8 more with a license using Ver 8.3.3. If you upgrade to Ver 8.4 NVR, you can run 32 Geovision IP cams, license free and yank out your GV800. If you want to add non-Geovision IP's to your GV800, you can go up to 32 (16 analog with 16 IP's) but you have to purchase the license/dongle for the number of cameras you're getting. Existing ones can be upgraded for a fee. One note. Make sure your computer is up to the task as far as processor and storage

Just started playing with the BL110D 1.3MP. Not bad but have a couple of concerns. One, every time you open the lens, you have to replace the silica beads packet to prevent fogging of the cover. The other is the IR LED's. Once they kick in, anything in the middle of the shot closer than 3 meters is really washed out. Not a closeup unit. Dusk Shot

What is your main purpose of the CMS software? Do you want to monitor and record events from the different cameras (Center View) or be able to monitor and control the DVR's at the various locations (Control Center)? CV2 is nice if you need the the redundancy of storing video at a remote location and you have someone monitoring 24/7. Downside, you'll need a lot of storage for all the cameras/events, bandwith considerations, and no way to lock the camera views on the screen (you can "pin" the live shots but if a system goes down it could pop up anywhere when it comes back up). Event window takes up to much sceen area unless to dump it off to another monitor. Control Center will allow you to monitor all your systems on one screen and "fix" their locations. You can group all cameras by location or group by entrances, cash registers or whatever. You can also remotely access each DVR to configure the system or access each systems video log. Bandwidth is better managed with Control Center also. Both systems will allow audio and PTZ. Another option is to just set up Multiview (free) at your home and office with multiple hosts. You can look at just one site at a time or list them all and drag and drop up to 32 cameras at a time from different locations. It all boils down to needs and cost. One recommendation, to get the most out of the remote monitoring, stay away from DSL at the various locations. Upload speeds are terrible. Cable at minimum.

When you add the IP cameras to a screen position under Install IP Cameras, you can select any position up to 32. Once you do, the software does the rest and you'll notice on the main screen to the right of the screen division selection, a right arrow to select additional screens for display

Is this workstation viewing the stored video on the LAN? If so, you may want to use the LANViewLogControl.exe app located in the Geo GVXXXX folder. Look at page 172 of the User manual for configuration info. You can also try using the the Remote PlayBack server. Just load the RPB client on the workstation.

What version Geovision are you running? The Fisheye wasn't supported until version 8.4 so if you're running 8.3X it would show up as a non Geo IP cam requiring a license key.

Starting with version 8.4, you can run 32 Geo IP cams without a license on their NVR. Only need them if your mixing 3rd party IP's. As for their IP offerings... Getting better. 1.3 to 3MP box, bullets and domes/speed domes. Not crazy about the minidomes. Also have a new 4MP fisheye Mobotix knockoff. Want to try that one.

On the main screen, click on Configure then General Settings. You should see AutoReboot Setup. Remove the Check from the box to disable the autoreboot function

Can you get into your DVR's Configuration settings? If so, you should be able to see and possibly change your HTTP and data ports. At the least, see what has to be forwarded.

Have you got all your required ports forwarded thru your router to your DVR's LAN IP?

Did you have to download any ActiveX programs into your computer to view it on the LAN? If so, you can rule out using Firefox or quicktime. You're IE bound.

As long as the main system has the Video Source set to 640x480 and you set the Webserver Video tab to Medium or Large, you should be able to set the DMMultiview Quality on either all or individual cameras from 80x40 up to 640x480 (video source and webserver dependent) using Geo 264 or Geo MPEG4.

We use Geo Control Center to view 7 sites each having anywhere from 4 to 18 cameras on a 52 inch LCD. Customer can choose to view one host's cameras or all of his 64 cameras from all sites, full screen. Of course, Control Center is not a freebie like CenterView is for up to 5 sites but it's simple to use/configure and eliminates all the "clutter" notifications.

IPcamviewer is a 3rd party app that works well with the droid phone. Assume it will work with the tablet also. Quality is pretty good but the initial setup is tedious, you have to setup each camera separately. Should be available from the droid app store.

Swapping the boards around means reloading the software for the particular board installed. As for Remote View, you still have single camera Live View available with a lot more info and capability or you can use Multiview to look at all cameras at once from each DVR. You can even set up Multiview with all 3 of your DVR's as hosts and display all your cameras on one screen or drag and drop cameras of interest from the host list. Depends on your requirements. 8.4 has a couple of bugs yet but does add more capabilities for PTZ's and IP cams plus it handles the new Geo IP's without the license requirements. If you can get 8.34, I'd stick with that for now.

Go to Configure - A/V Settings. You can check/uncheck DSP Overlay.

Did you run the Repair Database utility in the Geo folder to "fix" the video files?
